My plan was for a chicken ring (Pampered chef recipe) and/or Greek pizza type of thing, but feel free to bring what you'd like as well! Somehow I think we'll enjoy ourselves eating, chatting, crafting away!
Yummm... just reading the food list and updating and now I'm hungry!
I may hold off on the chicken ring since sounds like we have burgers and chicken chili too! I will wait to see what else we need and add to things then. If my garden keeps up at this rate, I will have plenty of tomatoes to share and bring, as well as other items!
Perhaps I'll bring some good bread, and snack foods too. I will have bottled waters and Pepsi for certain too.
Garden tomatoes sound wonderful. Had some at a recent visit with my sister but forgot to bring some home with me. Looking forward to relaxing with you all soon. I'll be bring a few stamps and punches for the "yard sale" table. And I'm make 8 kits for cardmaking. Are we going to be doing the projects all together? Or set up stations so that everyone works on different projects and moves to another one?
Hey! Checking in for retreat
I will bring enchilada casserole for potluck and some bread/chips and Pampered Chef oils/salsa for dipping (snacks).
I have not decided what I am making for a craft yet! I need to get busy :/
Looking forward to seeing you all!
Chris

Hi Terrie --
I was thinking we would each take a turn and share our project to be able to "instruct" or guide as needed, but if preferred, we can set up stations if they are projects that don't need specific instructions. I'm open either way! I was rearranging my craft room today and putting in a new shelf unit, and getting things ready for the retreat too. Getting excited!
How about late October or early November? Before the holiday rush kicks in. Could we try for one of the library rooms in Northern Virginia? I am open to ideas if anyone knows of a good location.
Marti had reserved the one in Leesburg I think last time for us but we ended up cancelling due to weather. I am not in that county so can't reserve it there. I'd be happy to host at my home, I think we could fit up to about 10 of us here comfortably probably -- I'm in Falling Waters, WV though -- just off I-81 south of the Maryland border/I-70 so not sure who would be able to make it to attend here?

EVERYONE!!!
I just talked to the Martinsburg, WV Michaels and they were very nice and willing to host us if we like. They have a classroom at the front of their store now -- it has 6 tables and a sink, and we can bring in food if we like (they do not have a fridge) and depending on what classes are being offered, we just book a day/time and can use it as long as we like that day if there isn't any other events/classes. Its a $50 rental fee is all, so if we can get 10 of us, that is $5 a piece, or if we have less, a little more each. What do you think?
I can find out what dates they have open for a Saturday afternoon perhaps in October. He said on Saturdays they often have classes til 2pm -- but nothing after that. Would that be too late for any of you? What if we did 2pm start and went til 5pm or so? Snack foods and fun?
He also said Thursdays rarely have anything but I know it would be hard for many of you to make it to that. Sundays also but I know many have church and family commitments on that day but let me know what you think about Sunday afternoons? SATURDAY OCTOBER 15 is the best for me -- HOW ABOUT YOU???? I could also meet on Oct 22 or 29 also. If we have at least 5 interested and agree to pay up to $10 for the meeting if needed, then I'd reserve it.
Hi Chris!!! You are awesome!!!! If you want to pick a date sometime and just post, I am always open to driving down there -- I just am hoping to move it around a bit too so we don't drive your DH nuts too every month! Haha! I am open to having it at my house too -- I know we could fit up to 10 in my dining area, and if we overflow into the living room, even more.
hi--just wanted to put out a quick "hello"--I would so much love to have been able to hook up with you all at the upcoming retreat---post lots of details after you all get back--I am in Western PA (60 miles North of Pittsburgh)---any interest up this way?? W VA is not too far from here---so maybe sometime we all can connect
I called Michaels about that date, and they said they won't know until Mid-September what corporate classes they have to have in October there, but here is what I'm suggesting for now --

If we have enough people and Michael's in Martinsburg, WV is available, we may book it in their classroom for $50 (split out between us all) --- if they aren't available, Susan Farrell-Jones will host at her house in Falling Waters, WV (just off I-81, about 10 min south of I-70 and the MD border/Hagerstown, MD area).
Theme: AUTUMN SPLENDOR!!!!
Potluck!! Please bring a snack or finger food to share. Its a late afternoon/early dinner kind of thing.
ShoeBox Swap: Make and bring enough of your craft to swap with each person in the meeting. Can be anything that involves stamping and/or papercraft! Ideas: jewelry, cards, hat pins, bookmarks, notepads, magnets, tags, boxes, card candy sets, etc!
Seeking at Least 3 Teachers to teach their swap items:
1.
2.
3.
I'm always open to driving to craft. Any good LSSs there who have room to host?

Do we also want to start looking now for a November meeting location? Maybe Nov. 19th? That is the weekend before Thanksgiving though --- anyone available then?
If we do Oct. 15th, maybe we meet Nov 12th? That might give us time before the holiday nuttiness and weather kicks in? We could do a Christmas theme in November, maybe cards, tags, small gifts and swap?
Hello everone!! I am in for both October and November! I will keep checking back to see what is happening. Thanks Susan you do such a great job or organizing all of this!!
Sounds good to me.....Oct and Nov.....The only LSS store roughly in the area that I know of is Photoscraps in Eldersburg, MD (Carroll Co). Wonderful gals and have an assortment of stamps as well.
Also, what about a weekend retreat place? Memories in the Making Home it's in Cascade, MD...Also, isn't there a weekend place in WV - 2 I believe.....Hobby House which is south of Harrisburg is open for day things but during the week I think though. Just throwing out ideas.
I can host in November but it depends on what day is chosen for Oct...I have made a commitment to the Cedar Creek Battlefield re-inactment on Oct 15/16 and may have house guests on the weekend of 21/22. Looking forward to the retreat!

Hi Karen --
We have a retreat in Harpers Ferry next weekend for 2 nights/3 days.
I'll add you for the Oct & Nov dates -- hope to hear from Michaels soon to know for certain if we can use their classroom!

I was at Hobby Lobby yesterday and spoke with the manager. They have a nice sized classroom and it's open for FREE to any group as long as they don't have classes scheduled. The only thing is Saturday is usually the Bob Ross painting class....but not always. I'll keep an eye out for openings there in the future.
Susan, the school year is good so far but the honeymoon will end in about a week or so then will be the real test of how my classes will pan out. I am praying this will be a terrific year!!! Someday maybe I can have my basement cleaned out enough so that I can host a gathering here. It would be so much fun to entertain!!
Susan, do you think the group would be interested in covering a flavored coffee can for a project? I have plenty of cans and might be persuaded to do a demo.
Everything is okay here...just some rain & wind this weekend.
Hi Susan! DH is taking off an hour early to be home for the kids on Friday. So I have the freedom to be there whenever. I was planning on making my way mid-morning and arriving after lunch. I may make a stop or two along the way just because I can=). How early do you plan on being there? I can always come later.

I would love to make a covered coffee can. Please bring your supplies!

We are only a block from the river but we had no major damage for which I am grateful. It could have been a lot worse. We lost power for about 24 hours and had a large tree come down across the road and a small tree landed on our shed. No damage though. Praise God!
