To all of you in the area:
Our Christian Music Ministry is hosting the 2011 Concert for Christ, a free concert on Friday, August 5, at 6:30pm, in War Memorial Park, at the Main Pavillion. You are invited! We are asking if you can to bring non-perishable donations for the local food shelter, Loaves & Fishes. Come on out and bring some friends!
Be sure to come up and say hi to me if you are there!
Sounds good. I have my sewing machine I can bring if needed, and I think the twins still have some basic straight stitch little machines that would work if you want me to check on those too.
CHRIS, ANNETTE AND ANY OTHERS IN THE WINCHESTER AREA:
Wanted to share with you that a new Christian store has opened in your area:
Messages of the Messiah, located in the lower level of the WTRM new offices -- at 2047 Valley Ave, phone is 540-535-0355.
Owner is Julie Taylor, a good friend of ours, and she also has owned a store in Charles Town for many years. Please tell her hello from us if you go. Great shop, has all sorts of wonderful Christian cothing, books, music, DVDs, gifts, and she can also order any supplies you need for church flyers or events, bible studies, Sunday school or VBS, and if she doesn't have it, ask her and she can probably order it and get it for you very quickly.
The store is open now, I think 10am-6pm daily except Sundays, but when she has the official grand opening, I think we'll be playing there, right now tentatively on September 17.
JEN, ANNMARIE and MARTI: We're still hoping you can find a way to join us in September at the retreat!
For the retreat, although I'm hoping each person will share/teach a project, its optional, and you can just bring projects you want to work on, hang out, relax and enjoy the friendship, go for walks or just sit and laugh to your heart's content! I'm bringing extra projects as well to share, but know also there is no pressure to have to do any or all of the projects if you prefer to just relax!

How fun! I'm getting so excited about the retreat! I'm in Denver and my sister and mom treated me to a shopping trip to Archivers... well, you can just imagine...
Needless to say, picked up a fun quick project for the retreat, and far too many supplies... Its a good thing I flew Southwest and can take back two suitcases up to 50 lbs... I'm going to push the limits...
And on top of that, my other sister took me to a storage lots sale... where they were selling truckloads of items that had been left in storage units unclaimed...
They just wanted to get rid of stuff... and for $50 we filled her car up with a ton of stuff... I bought nearly 80 movies, collector albums, CDs, book sets, craft supplies, vintage lace, and all sorts of things plus several big ceramic planters for my mom and my sister got a big pile of supplies too and fishing gear... all for $50! Well, now I have to figure out how to get them home!
Yes, August is right around the corner. DH and I are going to a BBQ competition/camping in mid August and then I get girl time at the end of the month. I sure am looking forward to all the fun.
Just checking in. This has been a busy week around here. How many are attending the retreat at this point? I will be working on my projects soon and want to make enough for everyone.
I'd like to start asking too what everyone wants to have/bring for the potluck on Friday night? Since I am nearby, I can bring something to have as a main course and cook. Do we have any food allergies in the group or particular dislikes/dietary restrictions? I was thinking of making some Pampered Chef recipes... like the Lemon Chicken ring or the Greek appetizer pizza.
Does anyone want to do a salad to go with it, any other items, and of course, who wants dessert?
I suggest we all bring some drinks if they have particular tastes or requests for those over the weekend. Also any snacks you would like to have or share.
Remember there is an organic continental breakfast on Saturday and Sunday morning included, as well as an organic lunch and organic dinner on Saturday.
Marking my spot and saying hello...it has been a crazy summer with lots of travel. I also focused less on stamping and more on mixed media art journaling etc lately.
With the beginning of school coming soon it is my hope to get baack into more stamping of cards and things. Will see how it goes...construction is to be started around Christmas on on basement which will infringe on my space..
Thinking about it! Mostly figuring out what tools and supplies to bring. And of course I have a nifty new tool bag! I'l bring some kind of chocolate dessert (cookies or candy).
Susan,
I will bring a veggie dish. Not sure what it will be exactly, but I will check my recipes and post later this week. We are going to a BBQ competition Fri - Sun so will be sampling lots of awesome food. I'm still figuring out what I need to take to that. After all, it's all about the food.

Carol and I will be there! I am just getting back from a wonderful trip to Wildomar, California, to meet our newest granddaughter (3 weeks old) and spend time with love, laughter and the rest of the family. It was truly grand.
Carol meanwhile has been driving across the country (Maryland to Boston to San Francisco and back!) and is currently attending Pennsic in Pennsylvania.
We are both looking forward to ending our summer travels with you all over Labor Day. Count me in for fresh fruit salad for the potluck. Carol may bring a dessert but I can't speak for her directly.
Looking forward to all of this!
Oh, and Susan, I don't know if I can pull together everything to make the flip-down card but I'll try. If not, I will definitely bring a more simple project to share.

ATTENTION ALL THOSE ATTENDING THE RETREAT:
The owner reminded me that if you would like to schedule a massage, they are available during that weekend. I personally am thinking of scheduling one on that Friday if I can... nothing like a massage to start off that relaxing weekend if you ask me!!! If you want to schedule, you can call her directly through the website phone number or let me know if you have a day/time you'd like and I can relay that to her also. $70 for a one hour massage, and she has a private room at the retreat center so comes there to do it!
I am planning for sweats and comfy clothes all weekend, and may bring some jeans and walking shoes in case we go over to Harpers Ferry or walk the C&O canal path any as well.
Hello everyone - I found a recipe for "Grilled fingerling potato salad with feta, green beans and olives (Bobby Flay) I would like to make. If no one has signed up for a meat/main course, I can bring hamburgers to cook as well. Any other ideas?
Ellen
