Hi there ladies. I know that Michelle has organized a card front swap for 6 groups of 10 to be swapped out at the event prior to registration. Her swaps filled up really quick, less than 24 hours I believe.
I figured I would start this thread to see who might be interested in a convention style full card swap as I didn't want to bring cards and then not have anyone to swap with.
Here's my question to you all...................
Is anyone planning on bringing FULL CARDS to swap convention style outside of the event prior to the start of the event?
As I am not a demo I like to swap full cards and not card fronts since I use the cards that I swap as well as case them. So card fronts don't really work for me. I would love to bring some cards to swap with all of you talented stampers that will be at the event.
My understanding of convention style swapping means that people bring however many cards they want and swap them with other people at the event. You might swap all of your cards and you might not depending on how many people bring cards.
If you are interested in swapping convention style out front prior to the event registration beginning then please post in this thread and we can see about how many people plan on bringing cards to swap. Also please post if you're planning on bringing full cards.
This is not a commitment to make a certain number of cards to swap, I'm just trying to see if others will be bringing cards. This way we can see if there will be 10 people swapping or 50
To identify everyone participating in the Convention Style Swap please make a quick blue colored tag to wear that says "Convention Swap", nothing fancy just quick. Thanks to Carol for the suggestion.
Thanks everyone for reading my long winded way of asking a simple question.......
Per Str8Fan's suggestion, how about some guidelines? Here is my take on the guidelines. I believe at convention you are supposed to use current SU only, but this is an SCS event and the vendors used on SCS are limitless as seen by our member companies. So with this in mind make whatever represents you, whatever you like, whatever your passion is at the moment, let your creative juices flow and bring a big WOW to the swap. Please use quality products, there should be at least two layers on the card base and whatever embellishments tickle your fancy.
Please include a recipe - make sure to list the vendor products used. Have fun and let's see what everyone comes up with.
Per Gardenia's suggestion I thought I would add a blurb about swapping out in front of the building (like last years) and we can start around 10:45 which will allow 45 minutes before registration begins. How does that sound to everyone?
Per TinaTuna's suggestion I am adding a list of swappers. If you are interested in swapping full cards please post below and I will add your name to the list of swappers. This does not mean that you have to bring enough cards to swap with each person on the list, it just means that you are bringing some full cards to swap.
1. Mama Kim - Kim
2. Gardenia - Ellen
3. alliohran
4. TinaTuna - Tina
5. Str8Fan - Rebecca
6. JSinnott - Jenny
7. ikebana - Tina
8. Carol Scheevel - Carol
9. Tonistamping - Toni
10. thumbunny
11. amyroo
12. StampinSandyH - Sandy
13. Serendipity Laura
14. Tangerine Dream - Tangi
15. JoniP - Joni
16. GisselaG - Gissela (2 different cards)
17. katv
18. justheather - Heather
19. Ginger Prestwich
20. sunnyinsocal
21. stampinatad
I voted maybe. I'm pretty sure you're asking about the possibility of another exchange, outside Michelle's? I'm in Michelle's swap but wouldn't mind doing another one as long as the commitment isn't too many and would of course follow the rules. Totally understandable why you want full cards. You probably already thought of this, but it is possible to mount the card front to a full size card.
Thanks for checking in and looking forward to meeting you!
diane
Meant I would follow the rules of your swap, i.e. complete cards. Sorry, didn't mean some other rules outside the actual swap.

Hi Kim,
I'll swap with you. I joined the swap group with Michelle (from San Diego) where we'll swap card fronts. But I 'd be happy to bring 10 cards or so to swap convention style if there are others doing so, too.
You could always start a swap thread and see who and how many sign up. I bet there are a lot of others out there looking to swap convention style. The only thing I'd add is an organizational tip: have a time and place to swap convention style outside of Stamp Mania. Keep me posted if you decide to have a convention style swap. ;) I look forward to meeting you, too! HTH,

I don't want to add an official swap thread since I don't want people to feel obligated to make a certain number of cards. My demo has told me that at convention people make however many cards they want to try and swap. Sometimes they swap them all and sometimes they come home with some that they didn't swap.
I think if we just leave it open to get an idea of how many people are planning on bringing some cards then everyone can decide for themselves how many cards they can comfortably make to swap.
I am in 3 of Michelle's groups, but I think I might make some full cards as well for general swapping. Just don't know how many, since most March, I'll be on my honeymoon - hee hee

Congratulations Gissela. I'm sure you will have a blast.
Maybe ... I'm in 2 of Michelle's cardfront swap -- so if I have time to do some more swaps, I'd consider making some full cards to swap.
Knowing that I wait until the last minute, I'll probably be putting my shoebox together and finishing my cardfront swaps at 2am that morning with the intention of trying to get to the Fabric Barn before StampMania.
I think I should sign up to do the challenges prior to SCSM5 to make sure that doesn't happen!
At this point I am not planning on doing any swaps. We are going to be on vacation. At the moment I am becoming swapped out but that COULD change come April. But at this point, no.

I just took a look at Michelle's Stamp Mania card front swap and it scheduled to begin at 10:45-11:15 am. Would it be possible to start the convention style swap at 11:15 am---or is that too late? Just trying to figure out the overlapping times. .....

Last year people started swapping whenever they showed up so I assume the same thing will happen. There will be some people that start swapping at 10:45 and I'm sure some that won't get there until 11:30 and will try to swap before going in to register.
Last year they let about a dozen people go downstairs at a time to register so I'm sure it will take a little while to get everyone downstairs and people keep swapping until they head downstairs.
I'm hoping to do some swap cards (or other items...we'll see), but I have no idea if I'll get any done- or how many. I would prefer full cards, simply signed on the back, to fronts.
Hi! I am planning to swap and prefer full cards as well. I missed getting in on the other swap, so this would be great! Thanks Mama Kim for starting this thread. :-)
I would like to swap full cards as well. Why don't we try to keep track of how many people will be bringing full cards so I will know how many I should bring. Mama Kim, why don't you start a list of people who want to swap full cards??

Great. It looks like there are some people who want to swap full cards convention style. We'll give this thread and the poll some time and see where we end up on the number of yes and maybe participants.

Sounds great. I'll edit the first post and start a running list.
I'd like to swap full cards. It will be my first swapping experience EVER. (Be gentle). Just not sure how many I will actually get to make. So I better start tonight. Thanks Mama Kim!
HI Kim.... I didn't get in on the other swap in time, so I'd love to sign up for the convention style swap. I'm hoping to bring at least 15 - 20 cards. I LOVE bringing home a big ol bag of cards from Stampmania! I would also like to add one more suggestion. With over 100 people coming to stampmania, and apparently some people doing BOTH the card front swaps and the convention style swaps simultaineously, and because the hallways and corridors of the church can get confusing and crowded, ( I work there full time), I would like to suggest that each group where a button or ribbon or some kind of tag on their shirt chest area, so they can be easily identified, similar to the green and pink ribbon groups last year. Even a "stick on name tag" that says "Convention Swap" on it would work. What do you think? Thanks for helping plan this.

Carol,
Great suggestion. I added a note on the opening post. Wow that opening post is getting very large
I will make a poster too that says "Convention Swap" that we can tape on a wall where the swapping will take place. That should help too. An excuse to use my cricut to make really big letters unless I find precut ones.;)
Hey Kim! I'm pretty busy with the other swap going on, but as we get closer and *if* I'm on the ball, I might try to make a few full cards too! Thanks for starting this thread.
If you are participating in the full card swap and you have extras at the end, please consider dropping them in the box for Ronald McDonald House. It's for a good cause.
Thanks,
Karen Moody
I'd love to swap full cards. I'm not a demonstrator, and realize card fronts can be adhered to a full card, but would prefer the full up enchilada! It actually helps/compels me, design-wise, to remember to treat the inside of the card as important and worthy of embellishment and thought!
So thankful for this opportunity to get together in southern CA!
I'd love to know how many (or close) full-card swappers we have, so I'd know whether to make 10 of two different kinds...or 20 of one kind...etc.
Kim, take me off the maybe list and put me down for your convention style swap. Guess I had better get in gear. I have 30 cards to make for Michelle's swap, plus however many for this swap. WHOO HOO!!!!

Add me to the list. I'm not sure how many I'm going to make yet, probably 10-20. Can't wait to swap with everyone and I love getting the full size cards.
Ok - I've designed 2 full cards. I hope to make 20 of each. I'm almost done with my card fronts for Michelle's swap and then I can start on these. Fingers crossed I will have 40 cards (2 designs) to swap on the day of.

Gissela, how much can I pay you to design my cards and start making them for me? I haven't started yet, and I am in three of Michelle's swaps as well.

LOL - unfortunately, there is a reason for my stamping madness. I leave in 2 weeks for my wedding and honeymoon. Will be gone most of March and only back just in stime to make it to stamp mania. So sorry, can't much help you there as I'm frantically trying to get all my stamping stuff done, coordinate the wedding and the honeymoon

First of all, congratulations. You have a wonderful wedding and fantastic honeymoon. (I was just kidding about you doing my cards). I do have a few ideas in my head, but getting them on paper is another story. Bring some of your wedding pictures to the stamp mania, if you have just a few. I would love to see some of them.
