Hi ladies! I want to get together with the Okinawa SCS'ers to do some STAMPING! I have lots of ideas, but I would like to know if there is any interest in it before I start planning. So, if you live on Okinawa and love SCS, please post here so we can start making some plans!

Hi there! No, I hadn't made definite plans yet. I was trying to see how many people would be interested in getting together. So far, we have 4 (including me!) LOL

I would love to come, but I'm in Korea. I don't quite know the logistics of getting there! I know that I can take a hop to Japan. Is Okinawa near Kadena or Yokota? I know we have flights from here to there. The only problem is that I think I'll be stuck there for a week. If I find out anything different about the schedule, then I would love to attend.
Maybe I can convince DH to plan a vacation around this time. We'll see. Let me know what dates you decide on.

Hi Rebecca,
It would be great if you could come over here to stamp with us! I thinking of a date in late September. I wonder if that's too soon for everyone. If that's too soon, maybe November would work. I'll be a little busy in October!

Rebecca, Kadena is on Okinawa. You might also check and see if there are any flights into MCAS Futenma - they are few and far between to Futenma, but you might get lucky! Kadena is your best bet.
Lisa, I would love to get together with other SCS's here on Oki! Let me know when! My hubby leaves with the MEU end of this month so I will have my 6 month old. Never done any of this as I am really new to SCS so is it supposed to be without the kids?

If this is before the end of the year, I will be to the next one for sure!! I am so excited for our move to Japan. I know this is totally off topic (and I am really not trying to hijack), but how do you all like it??? So the thread doesn't get totally off topic, I would love it if you could PM me if you have any advice. :-) This is my first PCS.

Hey y'all, treat Melissa good! She's a great friend of mine, and one of my downline. I tried to get her to join SCS the whole time I was in Oki - she had to wait until *after* I left!
Where has Diana been? I'm surprised she has not been on here yet!!!
She is busy baking her heart out in her new cake class! LOL I directed her and a couple of others to this thread. Hoping we can get a big crowd. I was asked the question of what is a shoebox swap and what the deal would be. I answered the best that I knew but never have actually been to one before, so, Lisa, care to enlighten us?
Ooh! I can answer. Everyone designs and creates a card that she thinks others might also enjoy creating. Then each person brings the supplies needed for her card to be made: cut paper, ink, stamps, ribbon, brads, stamp cleaner, etc. Each participant would need to bring her own adhesive and scissors. If your card requires setting eyelets or brads, then you would need to bring the tools for that.
I was at the Austin, Texas gathering back in April. There were about 10 tables set up. At each table, there were 4 to 5 cards. We were given 45 minutes at each table and then switched to another table.
We had such a blast. Depending on how many participants you get would depend on where this could take place, and how long it would last. The one in Austin started at 0930 and didn't end until 2030. This was with a lunch and two snack breaks. It was mad crazy, but it was a blast!! Something I'll never forget! I came home with over 40 beautiful cards.
I hope that you all get a good number of participants.

LOL, I've never been to one, either! But, I've read that you make a card and cut and bring the supplies (in a shoebox, or other similar container) for everyone to make one of your card. The amount of supplies you bring just depends on how many people sign up to come.

Ok, saw Jeanne Marie at the gym and she told me what it was. I am still debating whether I can do it or not. It depends on how long we have to get our stuff together. LOL. I am so bad lately. I've had van troubles and like swimming in cakes lately.
I'll keep watch and see what the details are and I'll jump in if I think I can swing it. Sounds like a lot of fun!!!

I hope you can come! I'd be glad to come pick you up from the terminal if you land on Kadena, Okinawa. Yokota is on mainland Japan.
Allison, I wish I had good advice for you. Okinawa is like another world from Misawa. But I can tell you to stock up on all your cold weather gear! LOL. Not much advice to give cuz Okinawa is all shorts and flip flops. LOL.

Roseanne, it's been forever! We need a good chat. I miss your sassy smile! LOL. I've been bad, very very bad. I don't come on Splitcoast very often anymore. I think I burned myself out. I am now in my end course of cake decorating. I've always wanted to take the classes and I will be SO glad when it's over cuz I am wayyy caked out! LOL.
Big hugs to everyone, can't wait for this. I just hope I can participate. Lisa, I hope you give me a long time to prepare for this. LOL. Should I already be thinking of a card to make? Would that help??

The info reached me...from Jeanne to Katrina to me...has anything been decided as to when this might take place? I think it would be fun to get together with other SCSrs here in Oki.
What would you guys think of having it November 11 and we could make Thanksgiving or Christmas holiday cards? It was a crazy week last week with the exercise going on so I haven't done much planning, but hopefully things will settle down this week. So ladies, give me your opinion. Will Nov. 11 work for everyone?

Great! We have 7 ladies so far! I've got a list started on my computer. I'll get a few more details hammered out and I'll get back to you guys about the time, location, etc.

Hi Lisa - I just checked my calender and Nov. 11th won't work for me. DH is on nights now and will be sleeping that day (unless this is an afternoon thing - he usually sleeps until 1:30 or so). So he won't be available to watch Taylor.
But keep me in mind the next time because it looks like there are a lot of us here and it sounds like a blast!!!

Hey Lisa,
Just wondering if you had anything set in stone yet? With us being all the way over here, we need time to order supplies and really plan our projects.
Thanks!
