I am so envious seeing the various states having gatherings for SCS ... I would love to organize something for the LR metro area in Arkansas. Last year, I asked about an Arkansas gathering and did not have alot of interest. I thought I would start out smaller this year.
If you are interested in gathering together for a Saturday, please email me at [email protected] with the following information:
1. Your SCS Name
2. Your real name (at least first name)
3. Your preference for a month: July, August, September or October
4. Your preference for a 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. or a Noon - Midnight type thing.
5. Please make the subject line of the email: Arkansas Gathering
I am meeting several SCS'rs for the first time on August 12th in Branson. Anyone is welcome to join us. "The Crafty Pig" and her family are coming from Washington state and Susie is coming from Florida. We are meeting two other SCSrs that live near Branson. We are going to craft all day on Saturday the 13th! 3 weeks from Friday! Yippee!!!
Kimberly - that sounds like fun but that will probably be the day we are arriving in AR! I will be ready to get together in September for sure!
OH and by the way I am originally from AR - born in Rogers, lived in Bentonville (or a itty bitty town on the outskirts and I can not recall the name right now!)
So I am very excited to live in AR again!!!!

I live in Arkansas as well, but don't know if I can make it that far as I live in the most norhteastern corner just as you cross over into the west side of the Missouri Bootheel.
If it was held at Searcy I might be able to make that.
I am so excited to see this thread again! I would love to get together with other local stampers and have some friends who might like to join us also. I have a final to take (graduate school) on the 12th but count me in after that.

It definitely sounds like there is interest. Let me first say ... please don't wait on me! If everyone can get together for a craft day in August .. please do so! I can catch the next round. Since I am going to Branson in August, I don't think I could swing two craft get togethers in one month.
Another idea would be for us to all meet for lunch. I could do that on Saturday, August 27th .. maybe like 1-3 at a local resteraunt? I think a later time would be better to avoid the lunch rush and to be able to sit and chat for a few hours.
Some suggested spots would be:
Chilli's on Rodney Paraham
Red Lobster in LR or NLR
Shorty Small's on Rodney Paraham (they have a large area upstairs).
Lilly's Dimsome and Then Some (LR) (Asian healthy food - love the atmosphere).
U.S. Pizza Co in LR or NLR
These are all places that I think could accomodate 10-20 people easily. Of course, suggest away!
We could do an Artist Trading Card swap .. and let the cards reflect our personalities and put a little bio on the back about each of us. If you have not done an ATC before .. they are very quick and fun to do.
Let me know what you think .. and post here if you are interested ... I'll keep a running list of those that would like to come.
1. KEagle (Kimberly)
2. PrideStampers (Holly)
3. CindyLCook (Cindy)
4. Cpdenton (Christi)
5. JKinAK (Janice)
6. Cockapoo51 (Debbie)
7. ARHawg (Darcy)
8. LisaAnn26 (Lisa)
9. Mary in AR (Mary)
10. Jennifer (Friend of Pridestampers from Fort Smith)
11. Carol (Friend of Pridestampers from Little Rock)
12. Lisa (Friend of Pridestampers from North Little Rock)
13. Lori (Friend of Pridestampers)
I am not sure about the 27th .... my dh will be headed to AR on that day and I will not have a sitter for my youngens....unless I could get a relative to come and sit with them....I know I could be avail. the 10th of September or anytime after that.

I'm not in Arkansas, but I'm originally from Arkansas...my family and friends still live there, too. I would love to come crash a gathering, but Sept would probably be the earliest for me--I just moved to OK City, am 14 weeks pregnant, and would need to coordinate with my dh a trip that way b/c I don't think I can make that drive by myself right now...get too tired too quickly!!
BTW, I have eaten at every restaurant you named...Lilly's Dinsome and Then Some is really good, but it may not be as "universal" as some of your other suggestions. I think U.S. Pizza Company would be perfect, but then again, I have been craving their salads lately...
Let me know if I can crash your get together...I'd LOVE to meet you guys!!!

I would be interested in a get-together, too. I live north of Jacksonville and we moved here in March, so this would be a good way for me to learn about this great state. As for a date and time, I'm pretty much open.
Janice -
Are you interested in getting together for lunch on the 27th of August? We can do some kind of swap .. get to know each other a bit and then plan for a day in September for everyone to get together.
I can accommodate about 8 people (including myself) at my home fairly comfortably. I live in West Little Rock. I have all inks, all stamps (just kidding .. but a bunch of them), lots of embellishments, etc. I do have a cat - just in case someone has allergies. One friend has to "dope up" pretty good before she comes over. ;)
The apartment complex that I live at has a club house which could accommodate 12 (I believe).
I look forward to meeting everyone!
Kimberly

Kimberly,
If ya'll don't mind, I think I could make it the 27th also. I'd love to meet everyone. I live in No. Little Rock but don't mind where we meet. If we go to a NLR US Pizza, the one by McCain is newer and has better parking!
Do I just need to keep checking this thread for final details?
Cindy -
I look forward to meeting you! Please feel free to bring along anyone else that you think might enjoy getting together as well. I added your name to the list above.
What did you think about the idea of making an "Artist trading card" for the swap item for that day? Do something decorative on the front and the have a little info about yourself on the back? SCS Name, real name, as much personal stuff that you would want to share, etc?
I think I would like to keep the conversation going on the thread .. so that if another Arkansan sees it they can join in on the fun.
All -
As we think about getting together for a stamp day .. let's think about how often we would like to get together (monthly? once a quarter? only once?) that kind of thing and brainstorm ideas of where we can have our Stamping Parties! ;) I think it will all depend on the number of people interested.
Would Sept. 17th or 24th be a good first Arkansas SCS Craft Day?
Spread the word ....

The 27th should work for me. As for the artist trading cards, these sound interesting, but could you explain them a little more for me? What size are they?
If this is a go I will need directions to where ever it is held. I'm not even sure if I've ever been in WLR!
Janice
I would love to meet up for lunch in Little Rock. All of those places to eat sound great. I have never done any kind of swap and I'm not really sure what an artist trading card is...but it sounds like fun! I know another SCS member that lives in Conway. I will get in touch with her and tell her about this thread. I will let you know for sure if we can make it on August 27 for lunch. I look forward to meeting everyone.
There are some great examples in the Aug/Sep issue of PaperCrafts.
And if you "google" for "Artist Trading Card Stamping", you will come back with a bunch of websites. Some of them are very "artsy" ... so do not let that intimidate you! LOL! I look at them as a small area for creating! And once you decide on your design, then producing 20 of them or so is a piece of cake.
I have added people's names to the post earlier in this thread. Please let me know if you are bringing more people with you. I will need a rough head count when I make reservations. We will also need to know how many ATC cards to make for the swap.
I'm pretty sure a few of my crafting buddies are coming ... just need to get confirmation before I post their names.
Sounds like NLR will be a good place to meet .. I think I am the only one in LR so far. Let's meet at the U.S. Pizza Co. that is close to McCain Mall as someone suggested earlier.
For discussion of having a craft day in September, please come with ideas of where to meet .. if the facility that you can get for us has a charge and what the conditions are ... (example: Saturday only .. must be out and cleaned up by 7:00 .. stuff like that). We should also discuss what we want to do when we get together in September. Do we want to just bring projects we are working on and do them in a group setting? Or do we want to do a "shoe box" swap. Each person brings supplies to make one card or project .. and we each take turns doing one item in the box? Or any other suggestions ...

Little Rock, Arkansas Stampers
Please count me in! I should be able to make the 27th lunch! Also, for further meeting places, my house would be fine to meet at! You can ask Hollie! We have had team meetings here and I have all kinds of stuff! I have a room that is dedicated to stamping and scrapbooking! I have all of SU! colors, MANY stamps, Sizzix, Xyron, etc... I could easily fit (once I clean up MY mess) @ 10 people with plenty of room to work or if we would just be meeting then I could fit @ 15 or more. I live in West Little Rock, actually just down the street from Kimberly.
HI Kimberly and all other AR SCSers.
I also live in west LR and would like to be counted in for a get together on the 27th. I agree about all of the meeting places -- they are all great.
I have two other friends who may not have seen this thread; I will talk to them on Monday. If there is anything I can do to help, please email me and let me know.
Mary
On the 27th of this month, we are meeting for lunch (1-3) at U.S. Pizza Co. by McCain Mall. For those of us who want to ... we will be swapping Artist Trading Cards ...
See you all soon,
Kimberly

Hollie -
I'm getting excited too! I have been chatting and/or swapping with a few of you for more than a year now. It's about time to meet in person. ;)
As far as how many ATCs to make ... I'm going to make about 5-10 more than who is on the list for lunch. That way .. I would have people covered who bring friends with them. If I don't use them all that day, then I can use them later with other crafters.
Looking forward to it!

Will we know about how many trading cards to make closer to time? I love swapping!
