Amanda and I will host a shoebox swap on Saturday, September 27, 2008, from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., at Potomac Place Community Center, Ft Meade, MD. This Community Center has lots of space available for us to spread out. Plus we wanted to let you all know this facility is handicap accessible. For those of you that do not have a military ID you are still able to come, you will just need to have a drivers license or a state ID with a photo, and car info that is required by state law in order to drive onto post.
There is room for 60 stampers with each stamper bringing a shoebox swap for 30 stampers to make. There is a $20 non-refundable charge per stamper to cover the Community Center, lunch, dinner, snacks, prizes etc. Please fill out the attached form and mail in your $20 to reserve your space by September 13, 2008. No children under 18 years of age please.
All cards are to be full cards. Please bring enough supplies for everyone to make your card including all cardstock, stamps, inks, embellishments, tools, etc. Please also bring your own basic stamping kit, which should include your adhesive and scissors to use on all the projects we make. Please make sure all of your supplies (stamps, ink pads, scissors, punches, etc.) are labeled with your name, so we all go home with the stuff we brought. We'd like each stamper to have a sample and typed instructions in their box telling how to make their card. Everyone should have their swaps in baggies or envelopes containing everything each stamper needs to do your card. This helps make the swap go smoothly.
There are no vendor restrictions on cards or projects. However please use quality card stock like SU!
We will have a door prize drawing for all who want to participate in it, please bring something altered or stamped along with a $5 value of product. It can contain partial packages as long as the value is at least $5. Please make your swaps look pretty so whoever receives it will be surprised!
There will also be small door prizes given throughout the day with a large door prize drawing at the end of the swap. All stampers will walk away with a door prize!
For all of you that would be willing to donate cards, we will be collecting them to give to the Fisher House on Ft Meade, for their families to use while visiting their sick/injured love ones at the hospital and/or to the Stamp for a Cause scs program. It all depends on how many we get.
We will also have a silent auction for whoever would like to clean out stamping/scrapping items they no longer want. Just let me know if you will be bring items for the auction so we can have space allocated for your items.
So for a recap here is, what you should bring:
-shoebox swap (no theme) for 30 stampers
-door prize drawing (if you are wanting to participate in it)
-any cards that you would like to donate to the Fisher House or Stamp for a Cause.
-any silent auction items you are wanting to get rid off.
So start posting your RSVPs. Please feel free to post or pm any questions you may have.
Once I receive your form and payment, I will mark you paid.
Amanda and I can't wait to see you all there!

Tracy - this is the one weekend I was hoping it wasn't going to be!!
I will have to see what I can do.
Oldest DD has a big band competition at her school that weekend. I missed it last year, two years in a row may not be good!
LOL! Don't worry. I thought if you were available then it might be more fun for you since there would be more stampers around. But anytime you are available will be fine. We are also going to plan another shoebox swap on Nov 8th if that time frame works for you.
Sorry I've been out of the loop. Having lots of trouble with Comcast. They came yesterday and repaired my connection and it didn't even last 3 hours! They just left repairing it again, so we should wager how long it will be on before it goes down again.lol

Tracy, The news reported a website called "twitter.com" that corporate America is paying attention to and where the public can discuss the service they receive from the corporate businesses. The news cited a COMCAST problem that had gone on for several days and the woman was losing business (she worked from home) because of the COMCAST lack of service. She had her communication problems fixed in just a few hours.

I say, what have you got to lose? Give it a try! Good luck
