Saturday, November 8, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Collamer United Church, 6865 Fly Road, East Syracuse, New York
(different location but same easy access from Routes 81, 90 and 690/481)
Join us for a day of stamping fun!
It’s time to talk about the next Central New York Get Together. Here’s the info:
Cost – $17.00 per person ($18 via PayPal). Your registration must be paid no later than noon on Friday, October 17. Mail your registration form and payment to me. There are no refunds, but you may offer your spot to someone else. Here’s what’s planned.
Swaps – You’ll know how many to make when we post the final counts, and you’ll have plenty of notice since the deadline is about three weeks ahead of the event. Participating at least one swap (see below) is part of the “price” of admission so everyone must participate in a swap (plus the shoebox, also required). You can, however, participate in any one, some or all of the four swaps.
Card Front Swap: Gayla (snowcountry311) will give you some guidance on this swap. See Post #7. FINAL SWAP COUNT: 27
Recipe Swap – Nancy (njbaker) will provide more information about 6x6’s. Info is in Post #6. FINAL SWAP COUNT: 24
ATC Swap – Judy (Judy K)will tell you more about Artist Trading Cards. Check Post #10. FINAL SWAP COUNT: 16
SU! Demo Quality* Swap – Check with Michele (tillyhead) on this. See Post #11. FINAL SWAP COUNT: 15
*This means only current SU! products can be used but you don't need to be a demo to participate.
Shoebox Project – Bring your idea and all the supplies (precut but not prestamped or prepunched) needed for making your project with a small group. Again, current Stampin’ Up! products are preferred but other quality products are definitely acceptable. We’ll break the shoebox projects into small groups (tables of based on our final count. Tables will be set up to stamp the day away. You will need to bring four extra completed shoebox projects (door prizes, hostess thank you, and one for your table so that everyone can follow it for directions). Participation in the shoebox is mandatory. A shoebox project will generally be a full card, with layers and embellishment(s). Please provide any special adhesive that’s needed. FINAL SHOEBOX COUNT: Please bring a project for 7 at your table (and 1 additional if you'd like to make your own) plus 4 completed projects.
Food – We’re going to have sign ups for food and drinks again. Everyone enjoys sampling others’ treats at some of our other gatherings, so please indicate on the registration sheet what you will bring to share. (Also see note below about Make & Take for All.)
Garage Sale – Bring your unused stamps and stamping supplies to sell or trade. Current Stampin’ Up! items must be offered for trade only; you can sell retired items. Sorry but we can’t be responsible for missing items so bring things at your own risk.
Make & Take for All – Earlier CNY gatherings featured several large group Make & Takes. If you would prefer to do this instead of providing a food item, please say so. Please pick one or the other (unless, of course, you want to do both!).
Goody Bags – for everyone! Everyone will leave with a bag of fabulous goodies.
Gift Swap – If you would like to participate, bring a wrapped gift related to our stamping passion. We will draw for those so that everyone who brings one will also leave with one. Value on these should be about $5, and stamped projects are always appreciated! If it’s something you’d like to take home, it’s probably perfect! This swap will be done “Yankee Trader” style. Be sure to include your name somewhere inside so the lucky winner knows who to thank.
Other Stuff – Please bring your own labeled items for your personal stamping needs, especially your favorite adhesive. These are the items you just can’t stamp without, like: bone folder, paper cutter/scorer, scissors, straight edge, stamp cleaner and whatever else you can't stamp without! Did I say adhesive????? Adhesive! You will likely need lots of it.
Make and wear a nametag with your name (and your SCS name) so that we know you on sight. There may be a nametag contest so keep that in mind when you’re creating your nametag.
Don't forget your camera!
So complete the registration form and forward with your $17 payment ($18 via PayPal) by October 17. All funds collected will be spent on the event . The small price increase is due to an increase in the cost to use the facility.

If you can stay around after the gathering, we'll take a drive out to We B Scrappin' for some shopping (Kathy has given us a 20% coupon good for the 8th only) and find a spot for dinner as well. Hope you can stick around.
Directions to Collamer United Church, 6865 Fly Road, East Syracuse. Get the specifics from mapquest.com or randmcnally.com. But, generally speaking, most everyone will be taking Rte. 481 (from 81, 690 or 90) and exiting at Bridgeport. Take a right onto Collamer Road/Route 298. You’ll pass Dunkin’ Donuts (on right) and Adirondack Colonial Furniture (on left). Turn left at the light (corner of Fly Road). The church is a large white building on the right, just past a couple of houses. If you get as far as the next light (Fly Road Market and New Process Gear are at that corner), you’ve gone too far; turn around and come back the other way.
Directions to We B Scrappin'
Starting from Collamer United Church, 6865 Fly Rd, East Syracuse
1: Start out going NORTH (left) on FLY RD/CR-77 toward COLLAMER RD/NY-298. 0.1 mi
2: Turn RIGHT onto COLLAMER RD/NY-298. 0.5 mi
3: Merge onto I-481 N via the ramp on the LEFT toward N SYRACUSE/OSWEGO. 4.4 mi
4: Merge onto I-81 N via EXIT 9N toward WATERTOWN. 2.4 mi
5: Take the RT-31 exit, EXIT 30, toward CICERO/BRIDGEPORT. 0.2 mi
6: Turn RIGHT onto NY-31. 0.4 mi
7: Ending at We B Scrappin’, 5962 State Route 31 Cicero, NY 13039-8800
FOOD INFO: Please remember when making/purchasing your food item that you do not need enough to feed an army. There should be a very nice variety coming: donuts - cake - muffins - sticky buns - cookies - brownies - chips & dip - specialty dips - casseroles/main dish items - salads and side dishes - bread & butter - cheese & crackers - fruit - and more. There will be bottled water, coffee, assorted sodas and, of course, candy for the tables.
So, my suggestion is to make/bring a "normal" amount not a super size. I am sure there will still be leftovers but everyone should be able to find something they like. If you don't believe that to be the case, please feel free to pack a sandwich. If items to be served cold, especially the sodas, could arrive on ice that would be very helpful. There are outlets to plug in crockpots. There will NOT be a microwave available unless someone brings it!
REMINDER: If you are bringing something that is to be served HOT, please remember that there is NO microwave available. I also dont expect to have access to either a refrigerator or stove. If you are bringing drinks, please bring them iced in a cooler.
Swapping etiquette -- Since we will all be swapping at least one item (card fronts -- info in post 7, demo quality card fronts -- post #11, recipes -- post #6, and/or ATCs -- post #10), I found some good general guidelines on SCS. I hope everyone will take these guidelines seriously so that we all make and receive wonderful swaps!
These are also good guidelines to keep in mind for your shoebox project, except that you're providing materials to make a full card rather than just a front and you won't need a "recipe".
1) Quality work -- This isn't about the quantity of layers or embellishments, or whether you are new at this or not. "Quality" means straight cuts with no crooked, fuzzy edges, tears, wrinkles, etc. (unless that is part of the design), attaching your layers straight (again, unless part of your design), stamping images clearly with fully inked stamps, etc. If you make a noticeable mistake while stamping your swaps, turn the cardstock over, or cover with another layer.
2) "Recipes" -- appreciated but not required. This means: your SCS name; your IRL name; listing the colors, stamp sets and embellishment you used; any techniques or tips you want to include. If you choose not to include a recipe, please include at least your name so we know who made your fab creation. I often use an Avery label for my info, but a plain piece of paper works just as well.
3) The only one of these swaps requiring all current Stampin' Up! products is the demo quality swap. All other swaps can use any quality stamps, cardstock, inks, etc.
4) Would you like to receive your swap or make your shoebox project? Then it's PERFECT!
Please ask any questions you might have and someone will be sure to answer. We have all made a lot of great friends getting together at these gatherings so we hope you’ll join us at this one!
We B Scrappin' http://www.webscrappin.com/index.html
We B Scrappin' will be providing everyone with a 20% coupon valid for shopping on 11/8 only so we hope you're planning to go shopping with us after the Gathering. Kathy has also donated some great door prizes.

In addition to a gift certificate for one lucky winner, MFT will also be providing us with a coupon code for online shopping valid for just a few days after the event. Check their website to have your wishlist ready!
Stacey McElyea (Shimmering Products) http://shimmerzpaints.blogspot.com When Stacey heard that Diane (cookiestamper) was going to be demoing her Shimmerz for us, she generously donated some for door prizes.
6x6 scrapbooked page that includes one of your favorite food recipes. Two layers of cardstock minimum, please use at least one embellishment. Please make sure there is something stamped. Please do your best work. You can check out the gallery for ideas if you need some. There are many 6 x 6 recipe swaps.
You will know how many pages to make when final numbers are tallied after registration is closed.
