I haven't heard of any SCS community gatherings, either... But, Lynn, can I please see you for more than 3 minutes this show? And Joy can't wait to hug you, either!? How many days?
Now that I know when it is, I just need to find out what it is! I'm just about 40 minutes from Rosemont and I've heard reference to CHA, but don't know what it is. Does anyone have a link where I can get more information about it?
Thanks!

I went to the website you provided. Since I am not a demo (or industry professional) it doesn't look like I am eligible to attend. Hope everyone going has a great time and a fulfilling experience!

I'm not going to CHA but I will be visiting during that time. Chicago is my hometown! I'd love to meet up with some folks at a SCS get together of some sort . . . ;)
I just found this thread. I'm going Thursday night to the Taste of Rosemont and then on Friday and Saturday. I'm not sure if I can convince my hubby to have the kids on Sunday too.
I'm going, this will be my first time! Is there a thread that gives me the scoop, like what everyone wears/brings, if anyone swaps, makes name tags etc etc? I wanna come prepared!!
TIA!
I've not heard of anyone swapping. Wear comfortable shoes because you will do TONS of walking and standing...when you get tired, just find a booth that has a make 'n take...lol You will see people in jeans, khaki pants, shorts, sweat pants...in general it's pretty relaxed.
Name tags are provided by CHA, which must be worn when in the convention center.
Bring business cards for sure because many vendors won't give you a catalog without one.
A rolling card/backpack of some kind is also a big bonus...trying to carry a bag, which will get heavier and heavier as the day goes on will get to be a burden, not to mention a real pain in the neck and shoulders.
A camera is great, but just remember to ask the booth personnel if it's ok to take pictures. Most of them don't mind, but some will, so it's just polite to ask first.
...hey you other veterans to CHA...have I forgotten anything?

YIPPEE! This will be my first CHA, too (attending on Friday)! Great info for first timers; one more question...is there a food court available or do you have to go off site for munchies/lunch, water, etc??
Yes, there will be food available....sort of like buffet, cafeteria style.

A few things I've found either necessary or handy:
1. A bottle of water
2. Pens / highlighter - I've found it helpful to get the floor map and highlight the booths I want to be sure to hit. Also, having a pen handy so you can make notes on catalogs or a small notebook. By the end of the day, you can easily be overwhelmed by what you've seen. Taking notes while you're in the booth helps when you're going back through things at the end of the day.
3. The rolling cart/suitcase is a MUST! I tried last year to use a back pack and an over the shoulder bag and just about died. I think there was about 400 pounds of stuff I was trying to haul back.
4. If you are flying in - consider bringing a few of the flat rate USPS boxes and pre-printed labels to mail stuff back to yourself. This is less you have to haul back and I had most of my boxes within a couple of days of returning home.
5. Chocolate (need I say more )
I just found this thread. I'm going Thursday night to the Taste of Rosemont and then on Friday and Saturday. I'm not sure if I can convince my hubby to have the kids on Sunday too.
I think you can!
It's only the largest show during the summer!!! ;)
what's the taste of rosemount?? that sounds like food is involved, and well, I love FOOD!!!!
The Taste of Rosemont is a CHA sponsored event. It happens right before the Key Note speaker. They bring in local resturants and do a mini tastings. I'm not sure I can go now. We just got soccer practice schedules and Colin has his 2nd practice on Thursday from 6 - 7. Roger is the assistant coach so I have to watch Evan until after practice.
I am going to be there on Friday and Saturday. Sunday is still up in the air.
My daughter, Melody, and I will be driving in from Virginia Beach - we have classes scheduled for all day Thursday, Taste of Rosemont Thursday night, then the keynote speaker. We have a crack of dawn class Friday morning and dinner scheduled with 2 gals from my design team Friday night. Saturday we'll be enjoying the event, and hope to connect with other online friends at the 2 peas gathering Saturday evening. We'll be hitting the road toward home after that and drive as far as we're able before we stop for the night since I have to get back to my day job on Monday... this will be my first CHA and I'm totally revved about attending.
Hey - I've been in the fan club for ages now! if there's a Friday meet, I'd love to hear the details. Please email me so I don't miss out - [email protected].
