Ok gals! We are all set. If you remember last year, I was pregnant and scatterbrained. This year, I'm a sleep-deprived new mommy which by definition means scatterbrained...so if I've forgotten anything, bear with me - Sign up list is in post #3
"Mad-City Madness": A Madison Area Splitcoast Gathering

Who: SCS Members & Guests (limit 1 guest per member) - Max. 40 people
What: Shoebox swap - a fun day of stamping
When: Saturday, March 22nd, 2008
Time: Check-In/Set-Up - 9:30 am. Stamping from 10 am to 3 pm (I need to be cleaned up and gone by 3!)
Where: Prairie Athletic Club, 1010 North Bird St., Sun Prairie, WI 53590

You'll come away with up to 40 new card ideas! Your entry fee covers lunch, the cost of the room and fabulous door prizes! And of course, a lot of laughs and great company!!
Anything else?
What....that's not enough? Anything left over after expenses will be donated. I will split it between Splitcoast and Imagine A Child's Capacity. ICC is a Madison-area, non-profit organization providing a variety of therapies for children with various special needs. My middle son, Zack, has autism and receives occupational therapy from this group. If you'd like more information, please PM me and I will provide you a weblink.
What do you need to do?
Design a card & supply enough materials for everyone to have one. You will bring 1/2 of your cards pre-made and we will make the other 1/2 that day. Based on feedback, this year we ask that all supplies be current SU! merchandise. If you have questions about this, please PM me.
What else can I do?
There are 5 additional swaps that are completely optional: Card Front, Anything But A Card, 6x6 page, 3x3 card and Lottery.
Card Front - simply that....make a card front for everyone who participates
Anything But A Card - make one for everyone who participates
6x6 page - any theme - make one for everyone who participates
3x3 card - full card - make one for everyone who participates
Lottery - create one fabulous, hand-stamped item and you'll go home with one!
Anything else?
Stamping is always better with chocolate. And other munchies too. If you'd like to bring a dish to pass, please let me know. Lunch from Jimmie Johns will be provided.
We'll also do the garage sale again. Bring your "gently loved" stamp/scrap items priced to sell. SCS TOS will apply - so no current SU mdse - only retired stuff can be sold. Current SU can be traded.
Now........just fill out the attached form and send it with your check made out to:
Tracy Filter
1215 Cardinal Crest Drive
Sun Prairie, WI 53590
by February 22nd, 2008.
This should give everyone a month to plan and prepare their swaps. Also in the attached document are tips/suggestions and directions. If you need information on lodging in the Madison area, please PM or email me: [email protected]
I look forward to seeing you there!

Reason: final details set
I really enjoyed the lottery and anything but a card swaps at the Northwoods Gathering.
Of course as a demo, I like to see when a card utilizes SU! products.
I would love to come! End of January would be best since SAB begins in Feb!
Thanks!
Elizabeth

Reason: adding attendees
I am in and will bring 2 others. I would rather see it held in March or later as the weather is so unpredictable this time of year. I am cancelling/resheduling a stamp camp today as two of my members can't get out of there yard today. Elaine
hmmmmmm---sister-in-law lives in McFarland! Would you guys let me come even if I rooted for the Cowboys this weekend? (dh born and raised in Green Bay though)
I plan on comming and hope to bring a few extra people with. I live in SP so it's no big deal on travel, but March might be better for those out of town. January is getting full fast and I do need advance notice since workingas an RN I have to request off in advance. I do prefer SU products only. In regards to rooting for Dallas, that's alright with me as I have a brother and nephew who are die hard Cowboy fans.
I'm in if it isn't January 19. I'm doing a Milwaukee shoe box swap that day!
Where? Is it a splitcoast one? I'm not surfing here as much as I used to since the baby was born. Can you share details? If there'd be a lot of cross-over, I wouldn't want to plan for January then.

Several have mentioned March so far. I'm only available March 22nd. How does that look for you all?

and speaking of baby...thought you might like to see a picture from his latest photo session. :-D

It's in the demo "events" section. If it doesn't fill with demo's only it will be opened up to all.
Tracy--March 22nd is the weekend of Easter next year--that may not be a good weekend for many people.
I would come again any date as long as I able. I agree that I would like SU samples and supplies too.
Last year I think we got rushed in making all of the cards with the number of people we had--I would rather do half of the cards in advance and half there if that same number is in attendance. We did that at the South Milwaukee one that Carrie Ann ran this fall and it worked well. She ran into some issues with people taking already made ones instead of making them as they "looked hard" I guess--I think in the future she is going to collect all of the pre-made samples and hand them out to each person at the end. We were divided into odds and evens (flowers and hearts for name tags) and she had a sheet we checked off for the cards we were to make and ones that were already made for us.
I loved the additional card front swaps and the 3 x 3's too. The lottery was awesome as I got a great prize! The "anything but" was also great for ideas. Keep the rummage sale too.
Now that I have tossed out more than my two cents, I will stop.
Yours was the first shoebox I attended and now I am hooked...................
I think Jan or after March 17th. I woud come on Easter weekend! My April is pretty booked especially with the Milwaukee Regional in there!

Just ran into a potential conflict with the 22nd. I'm going to have new godchild soon, and they're thinking of doing his/her baptism at Easter Vigil services. So, if we go with the 22nd - I need to be done and gone at 3pm so I can be in Milwaukee for a 6pm church service.
If we start on time and pre-make half...think we can make that happen?

Okay, not being a SU demo, I would like to keep it open to NVR.

Yay! The Third Annual Mad-City Madness...and this year I only have to drive ten minutes!! Whoopee!
Either the last Saturday in January or March 22 work for me. I will be traveling quite a bit in Jan/Feb/March, but those two dates work. If the actual date that everyone picks conflicts with my travel, then I'll send my shoebox projects and swaps...and ask a kind soul to be my "shoebox surrogate."
So happy to know we'll be getting together sometime soon!

As of now we're pretty unscheduled in January and March, so keep us posted Tracy!! After having to miss the Northwoods at the last minute due :( to *extreme* pre-term labor, I need a fun event to look forward to!

*waving from the other end of town* Hi Melanie!
I think at this point I'm leaning towards the March 22nd date. I have a feeling that January will sneak up on me too fast with all the other things going on for us right now.
I hope you can make that...and if not, I'll definately 'surrogate' for you!

I was just thinking of you the other day! How are things?
Good! I had the baby on 11/19 - the day before my scheduled c-section, so scheduled turned into emergency as I was 6 cms when they checked me in triage. Let me tell ya, those doctors and nurses can move fast when they want to! I felt like one of those military scenes in a movie - everyone's all "go, go, go, let's MOVE!". So much different from standard v-delivery with my first, lemme tell ya.
I would have gone for the 17th but only if it was in the evening - that was OOAK and I had things to buy! LOL. I did talk to him about it but he wasn't having any of it. Let me tell ya, this kid has a mind of his own already! Lucky for him he's adorable so he can get away with it.
He is adorable! I love the pic of his older brother touching his cheek! Sweet! Thanks for posting the photos.
Ditto! And I love the papasan (she says as she's staring at the same one in her living room ).

Hey Tracy, just saw this thread. The last two years have been a lot of fun. I'm pretty open to any date but I definitely prefer if it wasn't limited to SU only. NVR on stamps is a definite bonus in my book.

Forgot to say that Sam is looking mighty cute, too, Tracy!
I think we could pre-make half our cards, and follow the system barbaralynn described above. Then you would be able to leave by 3 p.m. If I'm in town, I could close up for you, too.
Better get back to work!

HI! just found your thread. Is this SU demos only or can anyone attend? I live in Waukesha so, it is possible for me. I subscribed for now and I'll wait to see what you say. What a bunch of cute babies you girls have!
Hi everyone! Looking forward to this event! I was with Barbaralynn last year, and we are both hooked! I am also looking forward to seeing some of you again that I have met before! I think if we premake 1/2 we will be fine. March works much better for me. I would prefer SU, but if we decide to go NVR that is fine too. Thanks for putting this together. I may have another person interested in joining us too!
How exciting! My friend and I attended last year and had a great time! I would prefer NVR also as I have stamps from many vendors; however, most of my stamps are SU. I do feel that this gives a bit more freedom to those who are not demo's and still like to participate!
I would prefer not to have in January, as this is not enough time to prep with the holidays sneaking up so fast!!
While I really enjoyed making all the cards last year, I would have to weigh in that 1/2 & 1/2 is a fantastic idea. I would just caution to be sure you balance the techniques and card making so that one half is overwhelmed while the other half is just breezing thru!
The lottery was great, the swaps were great too!
Looking forward to hearing what the decision is as to when it will be held!

I'm interested - so have subscribed. I have no preference as to NVR or SU, only that SU not be limited to current stamps only. Can hardly wait to find out details.

I need to tell my Mom to come. Remember she was the one I labeled um, oh, Perky!
I like Laurie's suggestion to have 1/2 premade. I was really rushed at the end last time.
Do we have a location yet?

I think we had 32 or so last year. We can take up to 40 in that room and still have room to eat, socialize, etc.
