Is it at all possible for us to make all the cards at the swap? Especially if the number doesn't get too high? I'm coming regardless, but was excited to see and do all the cards there in case there is a technique I don't know yet. I know it will be fun either way, so whatever you decide is fine.

Sure is! My plan was to have each person make 1/2 the cards ahead of time. Then when we are going around from station to station you can choose to make the card or you can choose to take a pre-made card. Your choice!
Last year when I hosted this we had 18 people attend...it took us 5 hours for everyone to get all 18 cards made. This time we have more time to stamp, but we have lots more people attending.
Also, some people may not be able to stay for the entire time. So it's good to have pre-made cards---that way we don't have to speed stamp

Ummm...as someone actually living in NORTHERN WI, shouldn't your gathering be the EAST CENTRAL get together? Unless you're north of Wausau, you "ain't" up north! :p
Our summer place is near Minocqua, so I qualify! Where are you?
Actually, I would love to come to this fun thing, but don't think we'll be in WI by April 28--phooey!
Just wondering, will there actually be stamping, techniques, anything like that going on? Like a crop for stampers? Or just pure social FUN?
Wish me luck in trying to arrange to get there.

Well, of course I posted the last note before I got to the end of all the posts! But I've never been to a "shoebox swap", so have no clue how it works. But sounds like fun!
Any spaces left?

I am looking forward to this event. I was just at a SCS shoebox in Madison over the weekend and it was a blast! Just got me more excited to have this one coming up as well.
Jennifer I am glad that the Madison shoebox was a blast!!! Hopefully if they have one next year, I will be able to make it down there!!
I am really getting excited too!!! I updated the list today with 3 more registrations...that makes 39!! Wow!!! This is gonna be SO much fun!
Hi Mandy!
I hosted the Madison/Sun Prairie one - and Yes! I'll do it again next year. I've been keeping an eye on this one, in the hopes that I could make it, but it looks like that's the only good date in April to schedule my stamp-a-stack. Bummer. But I'll keep an eye out for next year!

Ok, this may sound like a silly question, but can we make our shoe-box swap cards out of any stamp set, or do they have to be current sets in the catty?
I just wanted to know before I start stamping and cutting and going all crazy!
Also, is there maybe a way to see what sets are going to be there??? Just wondering since there are some sets I would like to buy, but would rather see in person first....
TIA,
Location: I don't stamp, I just talk about stamping on the internet!

Well, I'm only going as an attendee, but it would sure be helpful (to me, as a demo) if the stamp set was a current SU! one. I would use it as a sample for my customers. Other ones I would just probably give away as a gift to someone. That's up to Mandy, though!
I've designed my card already because I needed to order the supplies. I'm using the Bodacious Bouquet stamp set and the matching classy brass template.
-The shoe box swap is for full cards or 6x6 scrapbook pages.
-You do not have to use current Stampin Up stamps. Please just make sure you are using all high quality products.
-Having written directions with your card is always helpful. ( I type up one set of instructions, and leave it with my supplies)
-Make sure you have *everything* needed to recreate your project (tools, embellishments, inks, cardstock, etc.) (You do not have to supply envelopes or adhesive)
-Each person is responsible for bring their own adhesive that you will take with you from station to station.
-I have found it helpful to individually bag the card supplies. That way each stamper grabs a bag and has all of the supplies they need. (plus it helps keep things organized)
-Right now we are at 40 participants (I would guess, that we will reach 50 by April 8th) it is necessary that we pre-make of the cards prior to the event. When you arrive at the swap you will be given a number. That number will determine which cards you will be making at the event and which cards you will be taking a pre-made card. Doing it this way will be less confusing, will help everyone with planning, and will allow us more time for games, food and visiting!!!
-I will not have time to stamp that day, so when you come in I will have a basket up front and I would really appreciate it if everyone would drop a pre-made card in the basket for me. I will be busy playing games, keeping things organized, visitingand keepin the party going!!! : )
Also I am looking for ideas on door prizes.
What kind of prizes do you girlies wanna win????.... Stamp sets Punches Ribbon -- Embellishments -- Handmade items-- Tell you what you would like!
Are you only interested in winning Stampin Up items, or would you like a variety of items that are popular right now. Like Bella stamps, Paper Trey stamps, scallop punches, etc
I am also working on getting us all a discount coupon from the local stamp store. Keep your fingers crossed!
If you have any other questions that I did not answer here, please let me know.
On april 8th I will post our final # of stampers.

Just a thought! Do we have anybody coming other than myself that have a homebased business? I sell Tupperware and would be willing to put together a door prize or two! You have some great ideas though and thanks for the update!
I know most of you may know this but....make sure you remember to label ALL of your items you bring to make your swap. We're probably all busy with trying to figure out what to bring (unless that's just me....lol) & labeling your items may slip your mind. This will just clear up any confusion if things get moved around....see you in April!

I for one would love to see a variety of popular items for the prizes. I am a SU demo, but just a hobby one, so I buy & use only thing things that I LOVE for my stamping & scrapbook projects. I do use all SU ink and cardstock, and many (many, many, LOL) of their stamps, but also love my cuttlebug, TAC stamps, Primas, May Arts ribbon, etc. etc. Lots of the Bella stamps are on my wish list too.
Anyway, that's my 2 cents on the issue. Can't wait until next month! I'd better start thinking about card designs....

I 2nd that!!!! (I'm not a demo but I LOVE everything mentioned!!!!!)
I would love to see embellishments as door prizes or premade items with templates/directions - like nugget boxes - scrap mini albums, etc. Maybe the Ribbon Origianls - split them into 2 packs. Just an idea!
Thanks for organizing this - I know it must be a HUGE undertaking!!!!

It may be my computer acting silly, but I was checking how many people were coming to the swap and I saw the #32 slot was empty. Are there actually two openings yet? I can't believe how fast the numbers are climbing! My cardstock order just came in so I have to get busy cutting/assembling. Should be a great time.
oh, and I will need directions to get there from Green Bay!
I think that I know how to get there, but I want to make sure.
Oh, and maybe some hotels that I can call for reservations? something close... I am actually from Pulaski and would rather not have to drive 45-60 min late at night when the stamping fun is over....

#32 was empty, but has now been filled. ;)
The facility I rented has lots of room, and I have had a few stampers e-mailing me about being full. So I have added 5 more spots. We will still have plenty of room, I just can't turn away a fellow stampers ;). I hope this is ok with everyone. I will be sending out the final number of attendees on April 8th as promised.

With the new spots being added, can we all maybe make 30 cards or even a couple more ahead of time? Two out of the four in my group stamp kind of slow and we just won't be able to get them all done. Please let me know what the majority thinks of this.
Thanks,
Melissa (pokeypuppy)

My two cents - I would prefer to stamp the cards vs. having them pre-made for me - I'm traveling several hours to stamp not just swap. But, I'm happy to do whatever Mandy decides is best!
