I went to my 1st Shoebox Swap last week, loved it (thanks Cindy!), and decided to host one of my own! This one will be on Saturday, April 14, from 9am - 2pm, at All Saints' Episcopal Church in Reisterstown. I'm starting out a bit smaller than Cindy's swap - there's room for 20 people, with each person bringing a shoebox swap for everyone to make, and something to share for lunch. There will be a $5 charge to cover the rental of my church hall.
All cards are to be full cards. There's no theme for this swap, but please bring enough supplies for everyone to make your card, including all cardstock, stamps, inks, embellishments, and tools. Bring your own adhesive and scissors to use throughout the day. Please make sure that all of your supplies are labeled with your name or initials, in case items tend to wander. It'd be helpful if you could "package" your individual kits in envelopes or small bags, and please also include the instructions for making your card.
All cards must be made using Stampin' Up stamps, cardstock and inks. The stamp sets and ink/cardstock colors can be current or retired ones.
I realize that April will be here soon, but hope that many of you can make it! If the seats fill up, I'll start a waiting list. There will be fun and food for all, plus door prizes throughout the day. I look forward to meeting some fellow stampers! Please RSVP soonest if you'd like to join me; let me know what you can bring for lunch. Directions will be provided as the date gets closer. Tell your friends!! Thanks! Cathy (Cathleen7)
Please sign me and Mom (FranT) up for this. I'm so excited!! If you need any help, just give me a holler. Mom will bring veggies and dip, and I'll do brownies. Looking forward to seeing you again.
Darn it. I wish I could go (it would be a great way to celebrate my birthday after-all) but I'm already committed to volunteering at my children's preschool fundraiser silent auction. Bummer!! Please keep me posted if you do another one.
I wanted to let you know that not only will I be there, but I would like you to save 2 additional spaces for me - one for Amanda and one for Jen, who will be coming with me. They are so excited - as am I! I will bring my Broccoli/Cheddar Dip with crackers and I will let you know what the others will bring. See you then!
Pat

Pat - That's great - thanks for recruiting your friends to join us! I've got them on my list, and will count on you to pass info to them (unless they've got SCS accounts.) We'll see you on the 14th - more info to follow! Cathy
Cathleen, I have just recently moved to Maryland. I'm in the Calvert County area, but not sure if it close to you. Please let me know, that maybe I could come as well If I would know how to get there. You can email me as well at [email protected].
Hi Penny - Calvert County?!? Wow, my family is originally from Lusby, and my brother lives there now with his family. Depending on whether you're down by Solomons, or further up near Dunkirk and the Anne Arundel County line, I'd say it'd be about a two-hour drive to Reistertown at the outset. The address of the church is 203 E. Chatsworth Avenue, Reisterstown, MD, 21136 - in case you'd want to enter it into Mapquest or Yahoo Maps and see how long of a drive you'd have. If you're up for it, we'd love to have you join us. I promise I'll have a large thermos of coffee ready and waiting! Just let me know, and I'll be happy to add your name to the list. Cathy
Cathy, I am so looking forward to meeting everyone that is coming. I need to know what you mean by a full card though. My full card maybe considered different then your full card. Please let me know measurements. Thanks! I am getting so excited. I have a lot of stamping things going on in the month of April.
Cathy, sorry for asking so many questions. For the cards do we need to have everything cut out or we just bring the supplies and everyone cuts there own?
Penny - We'll be making full cards versus card fronts, and they'll measure 5.5" x 4.25" - basically half of a piece of 8.5" x 11" cardstock folded in half. They can open from the bottom or the side, doesn't matter. You should precut all of the cardstock for the folks to make your card. The only personal supplies that each person will need to bring will be adhesive and scissors. Everything else, including stamps, inks, precut c/s, embellishments, and tools, if necessary, should be in your shoebox. Please include your card instructions in your box; envelopes are optional. Let me know if you have any more questions - I'll be happy to answer! Cathy

Hi there Cathy, I know I posted last week that I couldn't come due to my girl's preschool's auction, but I've shuffled things around and I think I can still make it back here on time, so please SIGN ME UP and my friend/upline Anna would like ONE spot as well. It looks like you still need a few more, so I've e-mailed a couple of friends to see if they are interested too. I'll let you know if I hear back from them.
Oh, and Anna and I will brign some sweet-dessert-type-thing.
Hi Cathy! Her name is Rose-Ellen. Thanks for adding us to the list. If you need something other than a dessert brought please let me know and I'll bring something else. There is no theme for this swap is there? Just thought I would find out prior to stamping my creation.
Hi to all - We're only ten days away from our Shoebox Card Swap on the
14th - can't wait to see all of you! It looks like we're holding at 17 people, including myself, so please bring your card sample and instructions, and enough supplies in your shoebox for 16 others to make your card. Other items to remember include 1)your own adhesive and scissors; 2)your potluck lunch item; and, 3)$5 for the use of the church hall. Remember, there's no particular theme for the cards, just be sure to use SU stamps, inks and cardstock - current or retired. Embellishments can be SU, but don't have to be. I just know we'll have a terrific variety of card creations!
If you're bringing a friend who doesn't have a SCS screen name, please pass this info along to her. I don't have lunch sign-ups for everyone - if you haven't chosen something to bring yet, please try to let me know. Thanks!
Here's some info about the church. We'll be meeting at All Saints' Episcopal Church in Reisterstown, from 9am-2pm. The exact address, in case you want to use Mapquest or Yahoo! Maps, is 203 E. Chatsworth Avenue, Reisterstown, 21136. Easiest directions from the Beltway (695) would be to take Exit #19, Rte 795. (It only goes outside the beltway and not inside, so there's only one choice to make at the exit.) Proceed about 7 miles to Exit
7A, Franklin Blvd. On your way there, you'll pass the Owings Mills Mall and Metro Station on your left. Proceed on Franklin Blvd to Reisterstown Road, which will be the first major intersection you'll come to. There will be an EXXON station on the left corner. Turn left onto Reisterstown Road, and proceed approximately 4 miles. When you pass the Chartley Shopping Center, with a brand new BRICK Bodies facility in it, on your right, Reisterstown Road will go down to one lane (vice two), and you'll be heading around a curve and into the older, antique-shop section of Reisterstown. Just past "The COW" on your right, and Franklin Middle School on your left (at a light at Cockeys Mill Road), you'll come to another light, which is
E. Chatsworth Avenue. Turn right at the light, and proceed about 1/4 mile. All Saints' Church is a small church on the left. Park in the lot behind the social hall (Groff Hall), and then come on in for a day of stamping and fun!
I'll have my cell phone with me that morning, if you have any questions while driving. My number is 410-458-7788. Or feel free to send me a message if you have any questions about the directions above.
Here's who's coming:
1. Pat (stampinnewbie) - broccoli/cheddar dip & crackers

7. Michelle (heart)
8. Lori (ltecler) - black bean salsa & chips, breakfast bread
9. Karen (a friend of mine from work)
10. Pam (pamparto) - sodas, chips, pretzels

If by any chance you hear of someone else who'd like to join in, let me know right away, and I'll see if there's time left to add more folks. I think we'll have a great time with the group above, and I'm really looking forward to seeing all of you! Happy Easter, and see you on the 14th. Cathy
Ladies - I've forgotten to remind you to be sure to label all of your supplies - stamps, ink pads, tools, embellishments, etc. so that things can end up with their rightful owners at the end of the day. We try to keep things contained in the shoeboxes, but those guys have a way of jumping around the room during the day! I'm finalizing my cards today, and I'll see you on Saturday. Cathy
I've designed my card and have to cut up the cardstock....I'm really looking forward to a day of stamping. Thanks for putting this together Cathy! Is there anything else you might need food wise???
Hello Cathy, I will have to cancel myself and daughter for saturday. I know that you don't know me personally but some of the other ladies attending do. So I would like to give you all a reason for the cancellation at such a late date. My son-in-law has been fighting Brain Cancer since 1998. He was rushed to the hospital last wednesday night. He is now in ICU at University Hospital and we just found out this morning that there isn't anything they can do for him. They will be taking him off the breathing tube today. So we don't know what will happen from this point. I would love to come and have a great day of stamping with everyone but I know that my mind won't be there. I'm sorry for posting this bad news but I would like some of the ladies to know and don't know how else to tell them. Hopefully next time I will be able to get together with everyone. Pam + Courtney
Pam & Courtney, I am so sorry for your ailing son-in-law. My prayers will be with you and your family through these hard times. Hopefully the next shoe swap we can meet your daughter and you. God's Peace be with you.
Dear Pam,
Such heartbreaking news!
Please know that we will be praying for you and your family.
May God's grace surround and comfort you all.
We will miss you.

Teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom. Psalm 90:12
Pam - I just saw your post, and am so sorry to hear about your son-in-law. You will be in all of our hearts, thoughts, and prayers, and hopefully we'll see you another time. Spend this precious time with your family, and take care. Cathy
I am starting to get everything ready for Saturday and I was wondering when we bring our paper trimmer, adhesive, paper snips do we take them with us through out the day or do we need to leave them at the station where they make the card? Please let me know. I am really looking forward to Saturday. Look forward to meeting you.
Penny - I'm glad to hear you're getting ready for Saturday! When you get there, you'll pick a seat at one of the tables, and that will be your seat for the day. So you won't have to move your personal supplies (adhesive, scissors, etc) at all throughout the day. All of the shoeboxes will be together on one table, and you simply go back and forth to the shoebox table grabbing one that you haven't made yet. You'll have a checklist with the shoebox numbers on it to help you keep track of what you've done and what you still have left to do. You'll want to label all of your supplies that will be in your card-sharing shoebox, so that you end up with all of your stuff at the end of the day. I'll see you in 3 days!! Cathy
