Any extras I make that I don't need myself I send to the troops via Sue Salsburg here on SCS or through individuals who post here requesting cards for their husband's unit (ie Montigg). I'm married to the military myself and know how appreciated the cards are over there.
I had several answers - RAK/Need a Lift, Sue Salsburg, and sales. I sold a couple of dozen this a.m. at a weekly craft sale in our RV park - plus post it note holders. Now I don't have many left over!
Thinking of them as "Spares ... just in case!" does sound better than hoarding them ... but how many qualify as just "keeping a supply on hand just in case'?

I sell some, keep some, give some away, send some as RAK's, and am starting to set some aside so that I can donate a box of them to a charity organization that can use them.
because I use my RAK's and make my own cards for a
card ministry in our church.....and for friends and family as well.
For those who need encouragement as well as just thinking of you
Sympathy and Get well...........also birthdays and anniversarys too!
I began this ministry 8 years ago........when I was first introduced to SU
First I scan the images (and label them by creator) in case, in the future I would like to case the idea.
Then I recycle the card, I remake the base card if there is something written that I can't reuse.
I will send the recycled card out, with a message that says recycled, as a RAK, or add to my collection of blank cards for future use.
To me it's the best of both worlds, I get the gift of the card (or from a swap), I get inspired and inspiration (by keeping a scan of the card for future reference) and someone gets blessed by the card being sent and received.
I chose number one because what I mainly do is just make the cards I need for friends and family. But, I also make them for everyone at work and get paid for it. And, sometimes, I give collections of cards as gifts.
I voted "other". I make 13 for my stamping group and 3 extra. I keep the cards that we swap, and the extra cards I make I send out as needed or keep until I need them.
I voted other because I make what I can use which includes those I give as gifts and to my TOPS club sunshine lady and then I have made some to sell... What I don't sell, I give away or use.

I mostly just make the cards I need as I need them. However, sometimes I end up with cards I don't need right away - like if I'm playing with a new-to-me technique or participating in a challenge here, or some of the projects my demo has for us at stamp club. I hang on to those and use them when the need arises.
As far as donating goes... I'm on the PTA board at my sons' school, and this year I offered to make and send birthday cards to the teachers and other staff members. I also offered to send sympathy cards and congratulations/new baby cards when those occasions occur. Usually I make the birthday cards as needed, but I have used cards from stamp club and past VSNs to help with that and to fill in for sympathy and new baby.
I had LOADS of cards just sitting around ... some (most) I made, some were from swaps, some from classes. I just boxed them all up and shipped them out to SCStamper carriefeliciano. Her DH is about to ship out (he's with the Navy) and she was kindly collecting cards to send on board with him to share with everybody so they would have cards to send to loved ones and friends back home. I used to keep all my cards as an source of inspiration but now I have the SCS gallery for that! I'm glad to know my cards will be used in such a good way! I think my next box (It will prolly take me a while to build it back up again) will go to the Walter Reed Hospital for our wounded and recovering troops.
I do a combination of things.....participate in the CCRAK group here onSCS....donate to military groups, and donate to individual patients in convalescent hospitals for their personal use.....
i sell a lot at christmas, and i also gave a bunch to my siblings to give away... for the cards i make for challenges, i try to give them away as much as possible so i tend to use "thankyou" or generic sentiments. i hoard them too!! and the cards that i've taken a lot of time to do, or am particularly pleased with, I KEEP THEM!!!!!!!

I design for: Stampendous!, There She Goes, Technique Tuesday,
SRM Stickers and Deconstructed Sketches.
I kind of do all these but sell them. I haven't gotten into that mode ....yet. I may have in order to feed the habit. I haven't RAK many but know I should do that more. I just can't find the extra time to do it ( full time teacher here). Maybe tomorrow will be a snow day!! or a stamping day as I now call them.
I picked other since there wasn't any option for "let them pile up and dump them in bins". ;)
That is becoming my method also. I need to donate mine and let someone use them.

I send cards to the troops so they can send them back home to family and friends. It's something that makes me feel good and I've received some very nice notes and e-mails from guy and gals who enjoy having something nice to send home.
I hoard them...I always intend to send them out but if I really like it, I keep it! I have soooooo many cards that I have no idea what to do with but I can't give them away then if I need one, I won't have it....Such silly logic huh?!?!
I voted for almost all the choices! One thing that wasn't on the list...is give them to downlines, sidelines, uplines for ideas. I do that quite a bit too. HTH!!

i have a friend who is a missionary in boliva, and it is very hard for her to find cards and stuff there. so....all of my cards (esp card swaps) go to Beth. Speaking of which, here is a link for cards that I am sending her to give to her husband
Too bad I couldn't vote twice -- I really don't make that many extras unless someone asks for a supply, then I'll make quite a few. I keep a few extras on hand but they are usually the ones I really like so will keep them to remind me how to do it. After a while, I get tired of those and will send out then make some new ones to keep.
I am a big fan of the charity auction on ebay. There are so many worthy charities, and you can even pick a local charity to donate to if you like. If you have a bunch of cards sitting around that you are not going to send or use, ebay is a great way to donate. People seem to pay quite alot for cards in these types of auctions. Plus, it's a tax write off!

I give as gifts, as well as send quite a few out and hoard.
I also make birthday cards for residents of a nursing home near me. They only have 25 residents. I just started doing the nursing home thing.
