hi there,
A few weeks ago, I started a thread to show appreciation for the people that were the first to inspire or mentor you.
Today, I want you to take a walk down memory lane!
Go back to the very first card you ever posted here. Remember the thrill of the very FIRST comment you received and tell us who that was.
I sure appreciated my first comment. It will also give you a chance to see how far you have come as well.
So here we go:
I uploaded my first card on Jan. 28, 2007.
My first comment was from the wonderful Maddy Mason.
I uploaded my first card on Aug 23, 2008.
My first comment was from princessp1971.

Whoa ... very cool idea, Karen!
My very first card shared here was actually made for my 1st Grandson in March, 2004. (He wasn't born until April ... but the card was for the baby shower.) Why it isn't showing in the gallery any more is a mystery ... the thumbnail is empty.
So the next card was uploaded on Mar. 22, 2004 ... and its 1st/only comment was from member 'Joelyn'. I remember that card ... for my FIL's birthday! LOL
My super embarrassing first upload was in June, 2007 and sweet droseball was my first comment ever. Amazing.
Every comment I get to this day makes me so happy - it's such a great thing.
Can't wait to see the other responses - it really makes me happy that sweet Cheryl Scrivens (and others before her) work so hard at welcoming new users to the gallery. It matters.
First posting in 2014 got a response from Miss Boo. Then soon jandccc notified me that it was in the Favorites for the Week. Wow!
Now I can't get my photos out of my phone and into my computer to post any!

My husband is challenged on the photo transfer from phone-to-computer, so he emails them to himself and snags them from there...
My first post wasn't a card, and didn't have any comments. My second post was a little gift set and had a comment from MsDanielle, bless her! My third post was a card CASED from one of Karen Barber's Black Magic cards, and steelviolet80 was kind enough to comment. I remember being SOOO excited if I got more than a handful of views, with or without comments!
My first upload goes back to 2012. Seems like yesterday and I pretty much skipped most of this past year due to family stuff. That said my very first card had a very sweet comment from Palparis which meant the world to me.
December 30, 2009 was the date of my first upload (was my photography ever lousy back then!). My first comment was from Redbugdriver - I was so thrilled to receive it!

My first gallery card was posted January 22, 2011 and was commented on by MariannneLamb. I still make this card for various occasions such as weddings & anniversaries. I was really excited to receivee comments. Thanks for the memories.
So happy that you thought this was a fun idea and played along!!
I have to giggle as I read through the comments about you all thinking your first cards were 'ugly'! or that you don't like them. I think it's great to realize how far we have progressed and that we keep trying to better our skills.
For me, it's also about appreciation. Especially this place and all the inspiration and support it offers.
My first upload was on Nov 7, 2010 and I was so uncertain as to what I was doing I uploaded it twice! So I have two first commenters. :-) They were KopyKat and misshelenstamps. I was so thrilled and still am at each and every comment.
I just looked and tomorrow, February 1, will be the 9th anniversary of my first upload! It was a scrapbook page and Michelle Goodrich left me such a nice comment!

I'm so glad Michelle Goodrich is mentioned here! She was a great encourager to me in the early days. (Don't know if she comes to SCS, but I loved her encouraging words!)

Memory lane is a great place to be! Thanks, Karen.
My first upload was a pocket card done in Jan 2007. I thought it was a darling little pocket card and kept it for a long time--then it got ratty. Softangelkisses was the only one that commented on it, but it was a thrill nonetheless. Thank you, Softangelkisses for commenting on my pocket card. It mattered then and it still matters.

Growing through challenges
Great thread Karen. I joined SCS in March 2011 and lurked until a few months after I retired. My first upload was February 11, 2015 and Susie Australia welcomed me into the fold with a sweet comment. Those comments thrill me just as much now as they did then.
I was a lurker for a few years befor getting up the nerve to post anything. My first post in 2007, didn't receive a comment until 2 years later. My guess is that Niki was doing a specific word search a stumbled on this card. But she was kind enough to post a comment!!
I cherish each and every comment! It means someone to time out of their busy to look at my cards, and post a comment. I have been very bad about taking pics and uploading them lately. I hope to be better about that this year.
What a lovely idea! My first upload ( and how proud I was ) got no less than 16 comments! It was a trip down memory lane to see the SCSers who commented. English Rose was the first one
My first card was uploaded on Nov. 6, 2011 for the Hope You Can Cling To challenge.
It received only one comment and that was from the person hosting that day's challenge, stamp_momma (aka: Lori Craig).
My first upload was on Dec 9th 2005.
First comment was by athena308, with a total of 13 comments. That totally floored me!
Back then in 2005 you could comment on every upload for the day, there was only a hand full.

What a fun thread! My first upload was Feb. 13, 2008 and it was a valentine card I made for my Mom. My first comment was from LeisaJane and I received 26 comments. I was scared witless but everyone made me feel so good!
April 1, 2008! It was an anniversary card for my parents. The first comment was from belledancr who may no longer be active here. I was soooo nervous but haven't looked back. I always encourage new demos to post here and feel the love. Thanks for starting this thread, Karen.
This thread made me think of Ravioli Girl! Sure do miss her! She was always so kind and encouraging! Love all the awesome people here who make it so enjoyable to visit here...
Here is my first upload. A friend actually made me the cat background; it was on a memo holder she made me; I incorporated it into my scrapbook page. My Chi Chi is on it; she was such a a sweetie! 8x8 scrapbook page by hoptownracer1 at Splitcoaststampers

And, although she wasn't the FIRST person to comment on it, Vicky Gould commented. She and I are still great "cyber" friends. I met her IRL at a stamp camp hosted by Markie's Mom.
Yes, this is a fun thread! Thanks Karen for bringing it to the community! My first upload was 5 September 2007. S. Dailey was the first commenter. I don't have as much time these days in the galleries, but I always try to find a card that has no comments and add one. Goose eggs are lovely, but not on comments!
Thank you to everyone who has encouraged me along the way. SCS is home sweet home.

This is such a fun thread! Thanks for starting it, Karen My first card upload was made on March 8, 2008. It took almost a year after I joined SCS to get up the nerve to post a card. patsmethers's comment was the first one I received and I could have hugged her because she made me feel soooo welcome and said such lovely things. Thanks Pat Smethers!
Oh my. My first post was February 2007 of "Noble Deer" and commented by Ischrsaw. If anyone happens on my gallery now, you'll see that I've not posted for many years. I didn't realize it had been so long. I've kinda been out of the loop in making cards and have been using my stash that I accumulated over the years. I'm hoping one of these days, I'll get back in the mood and start up again. Wanda
JANVSNS by SuG - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers
this was my first upload to SCS, it was for a VSN. I had never participated and I remember I thought we had to get it done within the time allotted, until the next challenge was posted. I was so stressed, rushing around and trying to think of an idea, color, stamp etc LOL! LOSTchick was the first to comment. It was 5 months after I joined here.
My first upload was Sat, Mar 19, 2005 @ 10:48 PM. uchy2us was the first comment and she said, What a great idea! I might just have to copy!
My first upload was a mug with 2 chocolate suckers and flowers.

I have enjoyed reading all the great comments and the thing that struck me was how long so many of us have been here and when we did our first uploads.
Nice to read about how people felt the same way I did....just a stalker at first and too nervous to add a card then finally when I did, amazed at the comments.
How nice to see some "oldies but goodies" people's names show up on this post! Thanks, Karen. For me, I joined on 7/4/2007 and my first gallery post was 7/29/2010. Oh my gosh, what a long time lurking! The first comment was by Handmadebyme on 7/29/2010, and yes, comments are thrilling! I'll try and do better.
