Default SU Precision Base Plate

So my question is this, I was looking at the Bloomin Heart Thinlits Dies on page 16 of the Occasions Catalog. It looks so pretty for Valentines and Mothers Day cards. For those of you that have it, is the Precision Base Plate a real must have to get it to cut properly? I was going to get the new brush on that same page but really don't want to spend another $25.00 for the base plate. I don't have any of the other thinlits yet. I'd appreciate any comments and thank you in advance!

I believe it is suggested that the plate should not be used for thinlets. I have this Base plate but have not used on thinlets as advised it would cause them to warp. I am sure someone here can link to the vid explains how it can be used. Perhaps someone who has this die will be able to advise.

This die is exactly what the base plate is made for. It's the 'open' dies, like rectangles and circles that will get warped using it. You may want to use even thinner paper than SU for detailed dies.
You can get the base plate at Michael's with a coupon. It's made by Sizzix. They also have die-cleaning brushes, like Spellbinders makes. Also, at Joann's online, who often have 40-50% off sales.
This die will only be available from SU. It's beautiful!

Yes, thinlits. No framelits. Framelits are only an outside frame and tend to warp. Having said that, I have a very intricate heart die from IO and it cuts perfectly without the baseplate. I'd try it first without. I do have the baseplate, but I got it at Michaels with 50% off. I rarely use it. Just don't have the dies that need it....yet.

ttemby,

Thanks for your question, I too wondered if the base plate was required for the heart die.
