I know the demo side usually has this thread... but I'm not a demo anymore.
So... all in fun, ladies! Anyone with the catalog ready to 'fess up about the things that make you say, "Huh?!" or "Hmm....?" as the case may be ;)
Example: The set with the log cabin premiered last time -- the eagle looked like a flying fish and I could swear the Unabomber lived in that cabin LOL!!
I think last time there were a lot of samples in the catty that were way over the top.
Seriously -- I got to page through the catalog the other day (I get my own tomorrow!!!), and I love this one more than the last few. There's great stuff in it. Just hopin' we can pull out a few giggles this time as this thread has always been a hoot in the past
I'm still waiting to see a new cattie....ugh! It's so hard to be patient. Please tell me there are no new sock monkeys! :-( I remember there was a divided group last year - half of us hated it and half loved it. :-)

Waiting on mine. Should be here Saturday. I know that I love the new IN colors but haven't seen the stamp sets. Well, not many. PLEASE tell me they quit putting those sets in that look like stick figures (sort of) that my 4 year old granddaughter drew.

I think there are a lot of really nicely drawn stamp sets this time. And I was pleasantly surprised by the hostess sets. Last time, there was nothing I even liked. This time... yikes... wish I didn't have to *earn* them, so thank goodness for SCS's BST forum LOL!!

Sock monkeys are scary!!!! I don't know why, but they creep me out. Then again, maybe I'm just a big ol' weirdo!!

As a child my sister had a real sock monkey and I was soooooo fascinated with it. I just loved it and wanted one of my own. So when the stamp set came out I was surprised that I had NO desire to own it. Just didn't do it for me either!!
I haven't seen the new catalog. I'm not sure my demo is really into doing Stampin' Up anymore, and my little group of stamping friends seems to be losing interest. But maybe I can go online and check out the catalog
The new catty has a lot of great new images and the hostess are terriffic, but the Owl in "Whoo's Your Valentine?" (pg. 45) gets my vote for hmmmm... the feathers on the tummy look like a mouth of teeth and the poor little thing looks scared with those bugged out heart eyes or maybe he's wearing his Elton John sunglasses!
However I love the rest of the stamps so that weird little guy might make to my collecti on anyway!

That is soooo funny. I just saw the new catty a couple of nights ago and thought that exact same thing about the owl! He's just a little too "hmmmmmm" for me. I thought he looked like a Halloween stamp. I do love the new Christmas sentiment stamps. Will definitely order those, even though they are a little spendy.
I finally have my catalog in my own possession... but haven't had a chance to look with a really critical eye yet.
But that set Whoo's Your Valentine? I totally don't get "Chew, chew, I like you!" Why not stick with "Choo, choo???" Hmmmm..... Love "fishes, wishes & kisses" but not sure why LOL!!
The first few times through the catalog, I tend to only see what I like... down the road, I'll probably look at ones I passed over and find something "hmmmm"-worthy LOL!!
This time 'round, I have to say I think they 'done good.'
Oh - almost forgot. Awhile back talking about retiring sets, a lot of people seemed to be tired of Loads of Love. Now there's an add-on set for it! I bet people will love the camper. I think the trailer could have all sorts of things piled up on it. Do you all like the Loads of Fun set?
Am I the only one that thinks the giraffe in Animal Stories is getting ready to poop on me and/or my card?
Oh no! I guess I asked for it LOL!! I liked this set as I've always been partial to elephants and giraffes.... plus it's one that I've seen samples of in the SCS gallery.
Ugh... I do see what you mean though, Meg. Darn it!! LOL -- may still go for this one although the owl is a little....I don't know... missing something. Like wings. Or feet.
Bottom line... will I really pay $16 for a sweet elephant, and a pooping giraffe?
I wasn't even sure what that little grey blob was supposed to be! Penguin? Owl? Rock? I've just seen the gallery version... don't have a catalogue yet. To me, the giraffe looks a little "valley girl", with a pony tail and her butt and chest thrust out! Am I just sick and twisted or can anyone else see what I mean?

I was thinking they meant for these to go on candy items to give to kids (stick of gum... chew... chew; fishes, wishes and kisses... hershey kisses, etc.), but I could be wrong about that :o)

I love Loads of Love- I can't wait to see the add-on. Definitely a must have in my book! It was one of my first sets and I reach for it for so many different kinds of cards.
am i the only sock monkey fan? i couldn't wait to get it! but i love that so much of the set, and the accessories you can use by themselves, without the monkey!

I think the grey blog must have been the "end" result of giraffe. I don't think many other people know what it is either, since I haven't seen it as much as the giraffe. And, yes, that giraffe is a total valley girl! Like, gag me with a spoon!

OH MAN!!! Maybe "the blob" is really meant to be stamped in brown and go under the giraffe's butt!!!!
(Sorry! It's been a long week and I've apparently lost of sense of decorum.)

Ok I love the new Military set "Courage" but $20 + tax and + S/H on top for only 2 stamps, 1 image and 1 sentiment, sure makes me "rethink" what I work so hard for my money for. I think the set is nice, but needed a few more stamps for that price.
Don't worry, I said it was a gray "blog" instead of a gray "blob!"
Man, I almost want to buy that set just to make that card! "Wishing you a wonderful colonoscopy prep!"
:mrgreen::mrgreen: LOL!!!! Love it! :mrgreen::mrgreen:
They totally need us on their design team... or at least the "What NOT to put in the next catalogue" team!! (...and if they don't have one of those, they obviously should!)
Add to that pile the "Friend. Good. - Frankenstein" stamp (Frankenstein is the doctor not the monster!); the "There's just one you." stamp (Uh... No way, really??? Are you sure? I thought I just saw myself walking around the corner. Better hurry so you don't miss me! No, not me. Me. The other one!); the set of teacher stamps with the cutesy misspelled words (just a personal pet peeve as a teacher who knows how difficult it is to get kids to spell correctly in the first place!!! Especially the homonyms...); and "Happy o' birthday" (what the heck does that one even MEAN!?!?!)

I just got home from a party tonight, and received my new catalogue. I love, love, love it! There are some very pretty things in it. However, just like anything else, there are some things that are not pleasing to me, but may be for someone else.
As I was reading the posts, I had to grab it, and look at the animal one everyone was talking about. I saw that stamp set before, but all of you shed new light on it. The giraffe DOES look like it is trying to poop...may constipated??? LOL!
How about : Hard to Say : on page 138. Some of the sentiments are just so weird. ie
You know that thing I said? I wish I hadn't. I'm sorry. OR - Things have been rough between us. I just want to say I'm sorry.
Who the heck are you going to send sentiments like that to??? Surely if things were that difficult you'd phone up your friend our spouse or better yet speak to them in person? Surely you wouldn't send a pre printed sentiment in a card???????

I dunno what's up with that set!!
We were laughing about those sentiments---how many times do you think you will use those two, and if so, you have alot of issues, doncha think?

I thought I read at work someone mentioned the wierd little human faces on the bees. I just love that set but may never get it, as I'm thinking there will be lots of new sets I need/want!

I know exactly what you mean, Emily.... it's a reason I'd love to buy without blocks and hopefully save a bit of $$.
A lot of people will try to compare SU sets to singles you might buy -- yes, people will pay $7 or $8 for a single stamp. BUT -- when you break down SU sets (not Courage in particular), it's usually a group of maybe 4 stamps that coordinate with eachother, and at least one is something pretty simple. I will pay $7 or $8 or $10 for a wood-mounted stamp that's a gorgeous image that I "can't live without (LOL)" !! Not for a little sentiment or decorative element.
The prices are high on stamp sets and that often leads me to second-guess my decision to buy. I completely agree about "Courage" though - I love that image. But, eek - it is a lot of $$!
I know someone might think he's cute, but to me, he looks like cancer dog and I would NEVER put him on a card! It doesn't help that his thermometer looks like a cigarette at first glance. ugh.
There so much that I do just love tho. I love the new herb set. That's a must have.

Is the teacher one new? I'm going to have to check that one out; I'm the OCD proofreader in our house (and on SCS, but fortunately only in my head, although can I mention that isles are in the ocean and aisles are in stores?).
I think Happy o' birthday corresponds with "it's five o'clock somewhere", right? "What time is it?" "Oh, it's Happy o'birthday time somewhere, bring on the cake!" Or maybe there are a lot of Irish babies born on March 17th?

Well, it would make sense the cancer dog is smoking a cigarette. I haven't seen it yet, should the new catty have a "Pets in Peril" warning?
