Default Stampin Up vs The Angel Company?

Which is your favorite? Which company do you order from the most?

I just put in to order my first TAC catalog. I was looking online and they have some nice products.

Just curious as to what your opinions are between the two.

Well, I guess I'm partial, because I just signed up to become a TAC angel demo in May!! The prices are terrific, and so affordable!! But SU has great products as well, only made differently. Wood mounted vs acrylic mounts. Both very nice rubber stamps, so you can't go wrong with either one. Enjoy your purchase with TAC!! Karen

I love SU! I've been a demo for 2.5 years but have used their products for over 11 years. I love the co-ordinating colors and sets. I love that our ribbon matches our card stock, ink, etc.

Stefanie, I think it boils down to preference - and for me that is Stampin' Up! IMO their quality is first rate and I love their color palettes and stamp designs. I was so impressed I signed up as a hobby demo 2 years ago and I haven't looked back. Stampin' Up! sets also seem to hold their value nicely when it comes to resale after they retire. It's nice to know I have a real good chance of making all, if not more, of my money back after I'm done with the SU! set.

Nothing beats Stampin' Up's quality cardstock! In addition their inks and so many coordinating colors (ribbon, CS, ink, embellishments, etc.) are so nice. Oh, and not to forget their fabulous stamps...good quality images, best stamps around! Gotta love Stampin' Up!

I was originally a SU gal all the way...had eyes for no other stamp company. Until recently when I was introduced to TAC. Oh my...it was love at first sight! I love the images, love the prices and am seriously considering becoming an angel. Don't get me wrong....SU ROCKS! But for me, I feel that I'm getting more stamp for my buck with TAC especially with the new price increase. I still love the papers and inks from SU, but the price difference and the fact that TAC is unmounted (space is always an issue) are too hard to resist.

I like them both stamp wise. I don't know about TAC's cardstock but I love how the ink colors coordinate with the cardstock and ribbon.

I have a huge problem with the high min. shipping cost with TAC. Min shipping for TAC is almost $7. Min for SU! is less than $4.

Krista! Your dog is gorgeous! <Ahem...> Sorry for the hijack.

Obviously, as an SU demo, I am somewhat biased, lol. You may want to take that under consideration! Still, I've loved SU's stuff for several years now. When I signed up to be a demo, it was right around the time that TAC came out with their new catalog, and everybody was just raving about it.

I really liked the idea of TAC, and I was seriously thinking of signing up with them. I was really excited, until I actually saw a catalog. Didn't take but a minute for me to realize that I still didn't like their stamps! The images just weren't "me," kwim?

I do believe it IS a question of somebody's own personal taste. I never try and sway person to my way of thinking about which is better, lol. I say check 'em both out and make up your own mind.

I like both companies. Just a comparison of set prices.... on page 154 of the new SU catalog, Everyday Flexible Phrases has 57 stamps and is $41.95. On page 77 of the new TAC catalog, Soft Spoken has 107 stamps and is $19.95. Very similar sets. Not identical, but close.

I'm an Angel but I buy what I like. SU, TAC, or from any other stamp company.

I prefer SU over TAC. I love the color coordination of SU and a lot of the images. I've browsed the TAC catty online but haven't bought any sets yet--don't get me wrong, a lot of the images are cute but they're not screaming at me to buy them.

I think it is really a matter of personal preference. I am SU all the way. I prefer the stamps SU offers, especially for watercoloring. My best friend is an Angel. She loves the stamps TAC offers. She is more of a cutesy girly girl than I am. I prefer clean, simple lines and more realistic images. We stamp together but our styles are worlds apart. That is the awesome thing about this hobby. Everyone can share the hobby and celebrate all the diverse styles available.

It's all a matter of personal taste. I love SU, buy a lot of SU, but I'm a TAC demo. I love our palette ink pads, match maker paper, our prices and our lines of papers. I use a ton of SU products as well, and have nothing bad to say about SU products. Half my stamp collection is from them, and I have a nice list going from the new catty to purchase. So, ya can't go wrong with purchasing from either company.

I just got another TAC catalog, and I really want to like their images...but I don't. The catalog itself was difficult for me to find the embellishments they used in their samples. Some are in the front with their papers, some in the back. I will probably place a small order, but there isn't enough to interest me to host a party.

That being said...I'm not overwhelmed with SU's stamps this time, either! However, there paper, punches and scrapbooking kits will send me well on my way to host a party. It will be odd to not get much rubber, though!

It truly just comes down to your personal style.

I, too, prefer SU over TAC. I have a lot of both but I just think that SU stamps hold up better. I also prefer SU images to TAC...just a personal preference. My fave thing about SU is the coordinating colors!!! I can't resist them!

I have been with SU for over 4 years. Signed up to be a demo about 1 1/2 years ago. Love their stamps, love the new catty, but I have so many SU sets now (ok, it is a lot to me, I am sure most of you have at least twice as many as I have) I don't really feel like I need to buy more SU stamps right now. I just got my new TAC catty today (thanks Chris ) and there is definatly some stuff in there that I like and is a little different from all the stuff we see in the gallery here all the time. I know I will never quit using SU paper and ink, but I kind of like to start using some other stamp sets. Plus I like TAC's angel policy.

Default Tac vs SU

I love them both! I am a TAC demo but i buy my share of SU products too i don't like the price increase tho with SU and i really hate paying for wood since I always put them on ez-foam to save space . They both have quality rubber stamps both have beautiful artwork and georgous paper ( I love it all actually) I can just afford more with TAC

I love em!

I prefer SU over TAC. I have one TAC set and the quality is very nice. But, I'm a wood-mounted gal and prefer SU's designs. Plus, as long as I'm a demo, I'd rather buy from me.

Another disclaimer that I'm an SU hobby demo. I'll drop soon and just go back to being a regular customer to cut down my spending a bit

BUT - I am partial to SU. While they both have good products, I like the style of SU stamps better, like the way the products are displayed in the catty better, and love the coordination.

Also, I find that I can buy a lot of the TAC items (paper, etc) in my LSS or other craft store. But they do have some cute images - just not enough to attract me other than a stamp set here & there.

But the beauty of it - nothing to prevent you from buying what you like from either company (and others!)

I have to say I love SU's stamps just the design team alone makes it so hard to leave them.

However TAC has some cute stamps . Love thier sentiments and how can you not love the fact that they have unmounted stamps and thier prices . Well that says enough alone you can't get any BETTER.

CTMH has great ideas. In thier catalog. I love thier layouts thier scrappin kits are the best ever. I ony wished I made more money. still like the idea of acrylics but hate the stains. Trying really hard to get used to the fact that you get that off the stamp.

I have stamps from both companies - what it boils down to is preferences...because the rubber and image quality is right on par with one another

Images and Themes...some sets are very similar in nature...but then TAC has images and themes SU doesn't and vice versa -

Stamp preference - Wood mounted vs Acrylic blocks - I am a grab and go sort of gal - plus I tend to be a messy stamper...so I personally prefer the grab and go convience of wood mounted - I do find I use my TAC scentiment less because I have to find it - find my acrylic block, slap it on (get it positioned just right) - stamp, and clean it off (half the time I don't clean my SU stamps right away - I'll just throw it in the box when I am done with it - especially if it is an outline stamp that I usually use only black on)

Personally I buy what I love...

Well, I'm a TAC hobby demo- so I suppose there is a bit of bias, but the reason I'm a hobby demo is because I prefer TAC's stamps, and the minimums are so low- I might as well just get the discount.

So- for stamps TAC. I haven't purchased SU stamps since I found TAC. The price is just way too high. And it just got even higher.

For cardstock- SU solid CS all the way.

For designer paper- I'll stick with my LSS. With coupons and sales I can get it less expensive than either SU or TAC.

For inks- a mix of what TAC and SU sells. I have all the classic spots, but I also have gotten quite a few Palette and Brilliance ink from TACs.

Yep, you can find some of TAC's stuff elsewhere- but SU started like that too (and they still have many accessories that are available elsewhere- cropadile, coluzzle, stampamajig, many punches) so it's not all exclusive. I love love love TAC's scrapbooking cardstock, and it's worth the price, but even still I can't afford it.

As for shipping- the TAC minimum shipping is higher, but I usually wait to put in a order big enough to pass the minimum, or combine shipping with someone else- so it comes out to only 10%, same as SU.

TAC vs SU? I don't feel like it should be one *or* the other!

I like to buy what I *like*, reagrdless of which company has it! To me, I'm a TAC Hobby Demo, I do not have to *choose* either, I can have both without a problem!.

Different companies, different styles, I find a *fit* for every need!

I am a TAC demo, so do prefer them. I do like some of SU's stamps, but they are becoming farther and fewer between as TAC's stamps are getting better all the time! SU does have great card stock, but I prefer the textured that TAC offers.

I also much prefer the Palette Ink that TAC offers. I hate the SU ink pads as over half of mine have warped in the center!

Of course, you can't beat TAC's price and space saving!

The color coordinating with SU is nice, but you can always find colors that look great without being "matchy-matchy". Just my opinion...

I'm an equal opportunity buyer - if I like the set and the price is something I can deal with, then I buy what I like. Sometimes SU doesn't have the theme I'm looking for (like baseball), so I go looking elsewhere. I became a SU demo two years ago because I was buying enough that it just made more sense to sign up as a demo and get the discount. I still buy TAC occassionally as well as Inkadinkado, Bellas and others. I love the images I can get with the unmounted stamps as well as the lower storage space they require, but when push comes to shove, my first choice is usually the wood mounted stamps because I just prefer the feel of the wood. I like being able to see exactly where I'm stamping with the unmounteds on an acrylic block, but I hate the feel of the acrylic block in my hand and the mounting, unmounting of the images all the time. I like the grab and stamp of the wood mounted stamps.

When I'm buying, I buy whatever fits my purpose and needs at the time and also what I like the best. I'm not an exclusive purchaser of any one company because no one company will have everything I need at one time (wouldn't that be nice!) I prefer the color coordination of SU and usually their images (and the wood blocks), but I have my fair share of lots of companies' stamps, including TAC. All comes down to what I need when. If one company doesn't have it, then I look for it someplace else. My demo-ship anymore is simply for the personal discount and not as a business, so I'm basically a regular customer with SU who happens to get an extra discount.

I love them both - along with lots of other great companies! TAC is unmounted, which saves a tons of space on storage, but some people prefer a wood mount. There is no reason you can't have both!! Just buy the images you like.

Any TAC Demo on SCS will do a CDO for you, just ask them or ask if they have ismyangel website you can go to and directly order!

I've been a demo with SU for six years now, and really like the images they offer. I must say, though, that TAC has come a long way and I've purchased my first stamps from them this past year. There wasn't a ton that I wanted, but they do have some lovely stuff!

That's the great thing about the stamping world - there really is something for everyone!!

I just checked out the TAC stuff. And I discovered that I can order from anyone there (how cool is that!!!---thanks for the info. above) I really like that I don't have to hunt down my demo and place an order--TAC is ready whenever I am. Also, they DO have cute stuff--and much cheaper than SU! I love SU! but I do think some of their price increases were a bit much and I am just not in love with the new catty (please don't throw things!) I think I am looking for something new to look at.

thanks for the help,
