There is a special Staz On Cleaner that you need because Staz On is a solvent based ink. I believe there are other ways to get it off, but I only use Staz On - hopefully someone else can help or try a search!
Sometimes the stains don't come off - even with the Staz On Remover. Permanent, non-solvent-based ink sometimes won't come off either. However, you should be able to get most of it off.
Ditto on the Ultra Clean...it works way better than Stazon cleaner...I think GinaK sells it!
Yes Ultra Clean works great. I cleaned my stained stamps which I could not clean correctly with the Stazon cleaner. I was stained for more than 6 months. I just do not like the smell of the Ultra Clean it smell windshield washer :-)
It bugged me so much that I wrecked my new Stampamajig with stazon. I don't have a craft store near me and I wanted to clean it NOW - so getting the recommended products wasn't an option for me right now.
Thinking-thinking-thinking ... WD-40!!! Someone said the remover for Stazon was oily and had a strong odor. So is/does WD-40!
In my opinion the pleasure of my Stampamajig was ruined already with the stamped images - so what was there to lose?
Squirt, squirt, rub-rub with paper towel (it's disappearing!!) -- squirt, squirt, rub-rub with paper towel ... IT'S GONE!!!
And my Stampamajig looks brand new. I put a little dishwashing liquid (grease cutting) on it, rubbed it around with my hand - a quick rinse and dry and it's PERFECT!!!
I'm a genious!!! I won't hesitate to use it on my stamps either.

Just a note, as far as not hesitating "to use it on your stamps," I'm hoping you meant the SAMJ. I would definitely not use the WD40 on your stamps. It is very much apt to break down the rubber. It would be fine on the SAMJ as long as you used the dishsoap afterwards as you did.

I second the Magic Eraser! I use it to get Staz-On off my acrylic blocks (since you can't use the staz-on cleaner on your blocks) and it works wonderfully! Is there nothing those erasers can't clean??
OMS (odorless mineral spirits) is a great cleaner. I use it to remove sticky gunk and ink from my scissors, SAMJ, and other tools. I don't use it on stamps, especially do not get it on clear stamps as they will melt.
After I clean the tool with OMS I wipe it off with a baby wipe to remove any residue. I use the OMS from the hardware store for cleaning, not my artist quality OMS. They both work the same, it's just that the artist quality costs more.
I just got Stazon on my Stamp A Ma Jig today! And went into a panic since I couldn't get it off - did not have any Stazon cleaner. I don't know if anyone else has heard of this, but I always use a cleaner around the house called Holy Cow! Yes, HOLY COW. It's an organic cleaner. I think you have to get it at Ace Hardware. Anyway, thought I'd give that a try. IT WORKED BEAUTIFULLY! I now have a very clean Stamp a ma Jig!
Location: keeping my 7 yr old still, while I'm in stampin' bliss!

Yes, you are a genius! (I was going to tell you rubbing alcohol.)
Yes- you are a genius! Glad you found a fast solution! Stamping fiascos are not fun are they!!!
One word of caution though...over use of the WD-40 could do some breakdown damage to the rubber on your stamps. I wouldn't recommend using it on a regular basis...and when after you do use it...condition your stamps with a cleaner that is made for everyday use. Your stamps will last longer.
Also- thought I would pass this along...I use my chocolate brown stamp pad with my stampamajig. Not only does it come off my stamps easier then my black stamp pad ink, it also cleans off the plastic sheet easier too. It works like a dream for me.
