My DH and I are going to taking only one car to our NC home this year so I need to cut down on my "toys". I'm making lots of cards to have on hand but am trying to figure out what I need. I already have some colored CS and some double-sided tape there. I'm thinking about only taking my markers and stamping spots a couple of my favorite sentiment sets as well as my clear stamps. I'm been using my 'bug for embossing and cutting dies quite a bit so am wondering if the space needed for it would be worthwhile. What else do you think I HAVE to take with me? Thanks.
I know I couldn't survive without by Big Kick. Your cuttlebug would take even less space in your car.
Seriously, I'd give up my underwear if it meant I could take the cuttlebug! (You can always buy undies when you get there and just do laundry more often)
Wanda I just checked out your gallery to see what jumps out at me as things that you use on a regular basis for the look and feel of the cards you make, as sometimes a fresh set of eyes can see things you may miss:-
Embossing folders
patterned paper
punches or die cuts
ribbon
markers
Sentiments
I think if you are using your cuttlebug quite a bit you will be disappointed with your results without it. I know there is still the space for the folders/dies. But in the scheme of things it doesn't take up too much room.
@Cheryl *snort* or just be "free" - sometimes we just have to sacrifice for our art/hobby.
Of course this is coming from the person that the last time I travelled I had two bags. A backpack with laptop, ereader, clothes, toiletries and then a bag with my craft supplies

Love this idea :>.
Thanks ladies. Am starting to make a list of things I may want and see how they settle in my storage area.
If you do alot of embossing folders, run some thru the bug ahead of time, in different themes, then you will have some on hand, but won't have to take the actual machine with you. Crank some thru, and take those with you.
I'd make sure I had a GOOD pair of scissors. Maybe 3-one for paper, one for sticky stuff and one for ribbon.. I don't know what stores would be available to buy these. I have bought so many scissors to find one that cuts straight. Don't think the Dollar Store scissors will do the trick. The one I settled on was a pair of medium length Marths Stewart scissors. You might need to trim a smidge and you don't want your card finished and then make a crooked cut.
Three scissors would only take the space of 1 pair of crew socks! LOL (Got a kick out of the suggestions to cut down on the amount of undies and stuff more craft supplies in your baggage.)

We are approaching this all wrong. The husband only needs 2 pr shorts, shirts, socks - one on one in the wash. That should free up all sorts of space even in the smallest vehicle! ;)
weims beat me to it.....I was also going to suggest packing a box of whatever won't fit in the car and shipping to yourself! Then, ship it back when you leave NC. It's got to be cheaper than buying new stuff; and easier on the marriage than limiting the DH to only 2 pairs of shorts, shirts, socks etc.....though that comment did make me laugh!!
LOL! The undie comment made me snort because I'm one to pack five extras! Paper trimmer, three scissors, adhesive (ATG gun, refills, glue), card stock, image and sentiment stamps, modern label and word window and several other punches or dies and big shot, markers, craft sheet, ink pads...it would difficult to limit theses, oh, dear...difficult to narrow it down!! I over pack every time!
This made me lol. What a neat thread. It is hard to remember everything. Dont forget adhesives. Could you rent a small uhaul for the back of your conveyance? Then you all could have plenty of undies and socks....just sayin......
Blessings
Shoot, my thoughts were that if you have a home in NC, then there ought to be a whole wardrobe waiting for you there. So all you need to pack is your craft supplies!
Well, maybe your DH could bring something to do too...
Maybe you need to take enough to supply the craft room in NC, and buy all new when you return home. That way you wouldn't have to transport so much back and forth! :-)

My thoughts exactly!

Let's be honest - cardmaking isn't the most "rational" hobby. Even if you had identical supplies, the other would be the "better" one. We all know it is true!
We winter in Arizona and drive down from Canada, and I also have to consider what I might be asked to teach at our club here, so I have to pack carefully.
I do not take a lot of paper because its something I can easily pick up. I always take my bug for embossing and die cuts, as well as my paper trimmer.
Then I take my basics like scissors, tape, glue dots, foam pad for making my flowers, ink pads brown and black, as well as either markers or coloured pencils.
you could also also cut out any images that you may want to work on while you are away. I also bring a cutting mat.
I usually get away with 3 iris cases with my bug, mat and trimmer. now on the way home different story lol as I usually attend a a rubber stamp event or two while here,so hubby then has to be the creative one. One big deal is we rent so I don't leave things behind, I have to take home what I bring down and as usual I bring too much. This is in part because I bring templates as well as other things I think the girls would like to make. it is surprising what those cases will hold and they are nice an easy to pack because of their shape.
Maybe you could get a rack to put on the top of your car to put your husbands stuff. You sure wouldn't want to put your craft stuff in peril.
Favorite coloring medium (markers, pencils, WC-whatever your favorite(s) are. Some stamps of course, envelopes, white ribbon (you can always change the color with your markers or inks...), stamp cleaner, or babywipes. Happy stamping!
Wait...Wait...Wait....your husband actually suggested YOU BUY MORE CRAFT SUPPLIES....and you are turning that down?????? Seriously? You are a better woman than I....:-)
