..want to know the answer to a minor mystery. I've noticed quite a few really, really old threads (like, from several years ago) being resurrected. Nothing wrong with that, so that is NOT the intent of the curiosity. The question is: How do you even FIND these threads? I can barely find the one I go looking for from last week or last month! That's all...
Like I said - very minor, but I'm a puzzle person and like to see how the pieces come together in the bigger picture...
When I find a DT (dead thread) it's from a search using key words - the "Search this Forum" tool for any forum (General Stamping, Tools/Products, etc.)
But I know what you mean about barely finding threads - as in even a couple days before, if you don't remember the forum.
OT, but it would be neat if threads could be moved into the forum they best fit. Like if a thread about a tool is in the general stamping forum, pop it into tools/products. When moderating for a large website, we moved threads a lot, and generally didn't have to tell the thread originator, since they could always look at their list of posts and find it that way.

Yep! I got wrapped up in trying to help someone on one of these resurrected threads and didn't figure out for days that it was a thread from 2010!

I agree that it happens when we search...I have had that happen but have (sort of) learned to check origin date first.
However...if it pops up again...then it means someone now is adding to it in current time so assisting them should be ok.
Lydia does move threads around but I think we are a huge crew to babysit LOL Plus she was just over at CHA.
I could be wrong but if you post to a thread, dont you auto subscribe to it, so if you look in your subs it might be easier to find. I do that. it is true though that sometimes I very surprised how fast a thread drops down the line.
For me, I find old threads more by searching Google but also occasionally using the forum search. But I rarely post on them, and try to look at thread start dates before replying to them.
Auto subbing when you post is optional, BTW. I have it turned off and manually sub to any threads I particularly want to stayupdated on.

Whenever you spot a thread that seems to be a much better 'fit' in another forum, you're welcome to use the * over in the left thread column to write a suggestion that the thread might be better placed in the 'you name it' forum. Moderators will be glad to take a look & move those items that might better serve the SCS community from a different spot. ;)

Yes, and you can also find it by looking under your own name (find more posts by...) if you posted to it. It just can be difficult to find if if you haven't posted to it.
