hi, i live in houston. we are technically not in an evacuation zone(fort bend county)...we are still expected to have hurricane force winds. galveston(if anyone isnt watching tv) is already under water. please keep us in your prayers and thoughts....they are saying there's a possibility of going without electricity for at least two weeks. i have three kids, a dog and an older gentlemen that we help take care of. we're currently making arrangements(have been for days) to get him out of here. my husband is currently stuck out of state and trying to get back here somehow......so i'm at the moment until he gets back, going through this with the kids by myself......i have church family, but most of them have already evacuated rightfully so......
again , just please keep everyone here in your thoughts and prayers.....thank you so much
I was in west houston in the eighties. Will be thinking of you. Stand strong girl!

You got it! Sending some prayers up for your family and others in the hurricane zone. Having been through a major earthquake I understand. Prepare as best as you can.
Good luck. I can tell you from experience that living without power due to a storm is miserable. You might also lose water and gas. Please be careful. They are saying this storm surge is greater than Katrina.
You sure are in my prayers, my brother and sister in law are Canadians working out of Houston and were evacuated yesterday. They were moved to Munro, I believe.
I've been to Mississippi and New Orleans a total of four times to help with rebuilding from Hurricane Katrina. I guarantee everyone who has been there to help is storming heaven's gates with prayers for you and others in the path of Ike, whose surge of water is even being felt clear over to Gulfport, Mississippi. We've seen the destruction a hurricane can bring, but remain awestruck by the resiliency of the people of the Gulf Coast!
My daughter is spending several months on the border of Mississippi and Louisinana managing a church sponsored volunteer village where volunteers receive hospitality, meals and a place to sleep while helping homeowners rebuild. They had some damage from Gustav and are madly working to restore the village and others near New Orleans so volunteers can return and help. God's people are committed to this for the long haul, and no doubt will travel to Texas as well. I live in upstate New York and personally know of three groups planning to travel south this winter to help rebuild - and that was before Ike. You are not forgotten! God's blessing on you and those you love.
My thoughts and prayers are with you. I live in Central Florida and have had to prepare for storms. Just make sure you are safe and your family.Because, everything else is replaceable.I know that 4 years ago we were hit by 3 storms and the first storm Charlie put a 60 foot pine tree thru our roof.Luckily we had no water damage. take care.
Stay safe and you have my prayers -- it nearly came thru here (Miami) last week and scared me nearly half to death with it's size and magnitude! Be safe.
My thoughts and Prayers are with all in the path of "IKE"............
My bosses brother is in TX and said he's not leaving and is going to ride it out, he left last time and it took him over 20 hours to travel what normaly takes them four hours.........!
I'm just glued to the TV tonight...can't believe this storm...and how it's hitting right at a metropolitian area. I live in Dallas, and we're expecting strong winds. Kids are at the homecoming football game. Wish we had taken apart the trampoline, etc earlier in the week. Well, we'll have our work cut out for us when they get home. Are other people glued to their TV screen tonight? and I had hoped to go stamp...a quiet evening at home, alone!
I'm in the Austin area. My school in which I work became an evacuation shelter today. I was grateful that Red Cross was MUCH more organized this go around (we previously had been a shelter with Rita) and that there were far more volunteers this time.
Please take care of yourself and your kids. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
I too am glued to the TV regarding Ike, I've friends and some that are considered my family in Texas. I am sick to my stomach that a friend of mine's parents house already had 8 inches of water from the water and his shop already is assured to have been flooded. They are in Galveston. I live in Homestead and just last week we were thinking it would hit here and we would be the ones evacuating. Now it was them. I am glad they are safe. Material things can be replaced. People cannot.
This thing is so freaking scary! My thoughts and prayers will certainly be with all of the people in the path of this storm. Please, take care, and check in when you get a chance.
Having lived on the east coast all my life, I've been through several hurricanes and evacuated for many as well. It's a horrible feeling not knowing what you will find (if anything) when you return, so please know that my thoughts and prayers for safety and strength are with everyone in the path of Ike.
I've been glued to the TV watching the coverage and yes, it looks like everyone within the path and probably beyond will experiance power outages. Please, please find a way to let us know you and your family are safe as soon as you possibly can.
(((Hugs)))

I realize most of you SCS sistahs in the path of this storm are probably without power right now, but I am tremendously anxious to hear from y'all. Hope that all's well and that both life and property remained safe throughout night.
I hope all is well for you! I too live in Houston but with my hubby out of town I packed up me and the dog and left early Thurs. I do not think any parts of Houston have power but I have been praying for everyone there and my house too!!!

Just subscribing - hoping to hear some news from you soon.
My niece went to League City (from Dickinson) to stay with friends; had a text from her this morning that they were without power.
We just hope for the best for everyone in this area!
At this late date that I am writing, the hurricane has already passed over you...I will pray for your continued safety, for your cleanup efforts, and that you would be able to minister to others in need. God bless you in a mighty way during this time.

Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone in those areas. I have a friend whose sister lives in Galveston. She said her house is ok, but her nephew lost his and she hadn't heard from her sister-in-law as of this afternoon yet. What a nightmare!
My neighbor is in Houston and I talked with her on Fri as the storm was starting to come in. She finally just called this am, she had to use someone's phone and could only talk for a minute. She said she was ok but that there was so much damage. She was sobbing a bit. She said the electricity could be out for another 4 days or so. She had no phone, electric or internet. I just wanted to let everyone here know that is probably why loved ones may not have gotten ahold of you yet and we haven't heard back from this original poster. Praying for everyone in that part of the country...
