We all do it:
We see a thread that interests us; we click on subscribe to this thread. For a day or two, replies to the thread show up in our email, then disappear, never to be heard from again.
I occasionally lose interest and unsubscribe to a thread, but most just fade into oblivion. So, how many threads are you subscribed to? (You can find out by clicking on "My Subscriptions".)

I'm subscribed to 3 and have been a member of SCS for 4 years, but I just became active again about a year and half ago. I don't tend to subscribe to many threads.
Apparently you get automatically subscribed to any thread you comment on?
I just went to check and I *was* subscribed to 503! I immediately hit the button to clean out the folder. I never hit the "subscribe" button, so responding is the only way I can figure I got subscribed to all of those.
Way, way, way too many!! Can anyone tell me how to unsubscribe from them. They just keep piling up, and piling up...and I would like to narrow them down to only the ones that I am still interested in. Thanks in advance for any assistance that you may be to me. I would really be a happy camper if I could clean out this List Pile.
You can actually change it so that you are not automatically subscribed to threads you post in. Go to your menu (above where it says "welcome, ______"). Click on Edit Options on the left and the second section has where you can change if you want to be automatically subscribed or not.
I don't bother cleaning mine out because most threads just die, and you never hear about them again. If I have one that I lose interest in, and I am still receiving emails about it, then I will unsubscribe.
I like getting the emails, though, because it keeps me up to date on something I have an interest in. Also, you generally only get one email for a thread, even if there have been 30 posts. Until you click on it, it won't send you an email of another post to the same thread. (That's not always the case, and I don't know why.)
I am glad that you automatically get subscribed when you make a comment. It just saves having to go and subscribe. Generally speaking, if I make a comment, I'm interested in what others have to say on the same topic.
This has been a very intersting discussion!
