How do you ship your cards?

I'm sending out a bunch of cards for easter and am worried that the embellishments will get ruined. I've printed small labels that say "Non-Machinable DO NOT BEND" but am not sure that will even help. I never used to worry about this until I started getting handmade cards and see that the buttons are broken or the tops of bling are scrapped off. I'm not a fan of clear boxes as they seem to attrack all the cat hair in my house so I was thinking to just start mailing all my cards in bubble envelopes. What do you think? How do you ship your cards? Would love to hear what others are doing. Thank you for sharing!

If I have a lot of embellishments on my cards, I put them in bubble wrap mailing envelopes. It doesn't cost that much more in postage and the cards make it to their destination intact. If they have embellishments but are relatively thin, I have them hand canceled by the post office--there is not extra charge for this unless it doesn't fit in the template that they use.

I put a piece of cardboard (cereal box) on the front of the card. Put extra 20 cents postage. Write Hand Cancel on the envelop. Last, put a rubber band around the envelop. That way, you really make sure it doesn't try to go through their machine first.

I go to the dollar tree and buy the bubble wrap envelopes...2 for a dollar. Now not all of mine have the big stuff on them but when they do...this is the safest way to mail. Good Luck.

I use the bubble mailers too. They've all made it through ok as far as I know.

Thank you ladies, I repackaged my cards in bubble envelopes and feel better knowing they will arrive looking as good as when they left!

I really like the SU bubble mailers. They are cute like little green polka dots:-) I don't send many "embellished" cards in the mail but I tend to use those when I need to. They also work well with cards with sweet treat cups in them. Most of the time I hand deliver my fancy cards. The postage is so expensive! And I've had many cards returned to me in a regular envie with like the tiniest pearl or something on them because the machine ate it....grrrrrr!

I put a piece of cardstock over the top, throw it in an envie with a 64 cent stamp on it.

For those of you who use the bubble envelopes, how do you make it so it coordinates with the card? The envelope is the first thing people see, it should have something on it so it looks like it goes with the card inside.

I take a piece of cardstock and run it through my crimper--so it is like a piece of corrugated cardstock that coordinates with the card. I use a piece of it anytime I send a card with a brad or bow or flower. But, if there is a large button, then I do use a bubble mailer. I will take various colors of quarter sheets of cardstock and run them through the crimper to have on hand--works for me and I have had only one card get returned to me. Funny story--that happened last week and it was postmarked from the place the card was to go--not my local Post Office where it was sent. It had a sticker on it that said I was to add 20 cents and resent in the same envie. I took out the card, turned it inside out and still kept in the cromped piece while addressing a new envie. I then put on just a 44 cent stamp and took it into my local post office when I mailed some swaps and asked if it needed additional postage--he said no!

I udes bubble mailer this year for some special easter cards. I put the card in a decorated white OVERSIZED enive then inside the mailer. I added a few chocolate kisses, too!

I use the piece of crimped cs when I have several embellishments. I weigh the cards and have kept 95% of them under the one ounce limit.
When necessary I'll use a padded mailer and have our local mail carrier take it in and add the exact postage.

I just fold a piece of cardstock over the card ( a card inside a card) and always face the front of the card to the back of the envelope.
sometimes I add an extra stamp but sometimes I dont...just depends.

so far, in 3 years of mailing cards they have all made it safely, as far as I know...idk if someone would say if it was messed up when it got there but I hope they would ;)

I put a piece of cardstock on the top whenever I use a brad or large gem or flower. I position the embellishment far away from the stamp. Most weigh under 1 oz. and use regular postage. All my cards are mailed since my family is scattered all over the US and being a retired military family, we have friends all over. I never had anyone tell me the card was received in poor condition.

Be aware that weight is no longer the sole consideration. If it is too thick (1/4", I think) it may get kicked/hit for extra postage as a parcel or large envelope.

I send all my cards with a 64 cent stamp. According to our local post office, that automatically means they will be hand sorted and not get crushed by a machine. I haven't heard of any that have arrived damaged yet (knock on wood).
