After actually talking to LaLatty on the phone and hearing her cute story about her name and where it came from...I thought this might be a fun thread.
I've been asked about mine often and it's no great secret. My Italian Grandmother...who I DEARLY miss...used to make the most out of the world RAVIOLI. She had a special rolling pin made to roll out the dough. It was looong and skinny. And, she could flip that dough like nobody's business! We had to scoot our chairs far away from the kitchen table if we wanted to watch...so as not to "breathe" on the creation in progress! OR, maybe it was so we wouldn't be unintentionally hit by the flying dough. LOL. Anyway, one ravioli was the size of a luncheon plate...no kidding...and the texture of the pasta that surrounded it was out of this world. Needless to say, this GIRL consumed vast quantities of RAVIOLI in my time. I miss those...but, I'd give anything to have Grandma back, especially know that I have a grand-daughter of my own.
Some people haven't contributed to the old thread and would like to share, I'm sure. They'd feel odd bumping a thread that is months old, but they can post here.
Mine's pretty obvious, but I have six wonderful kids and for years motherhood has pretty much defined me (I'm _______'s mom)! Gail....see I really do have a name of my own!
Ahh, he was my favorite also! I remember seeing them at MSG and throwing a stuffed frog onto the stage because I had read in a magazine that he had a nickname Froggy or something!! :p
I'm sure I explained mine on the other thread.
Cook because I've loved cooking ever since I could walk. And I did in fact work as a cook for some years - but prefer to do it for my own pleasure these days.
22 - well, I was setting up a user ID for eBay way back, and both my birthday and lucky number were gone, so I went with the next number that was available. And then I just used the same ID here to avoid over-stressing my brain with too many identities to remember .
Those ravioli sound yum. I've gradually weaned DH onto more basic pasta (in fact, we're having a big bowl of ratatouille with pasta tonight) but I think ravioli would be a step too far for him, sigh.... I haven't had any since I made some when he was away and my sister was coming for a meal.
Mine is pretty self-explanatory. I love ALL kinds of crafts - paper crafts, sewing, needlework, wood working, quilting, jewelry making, ceramics, crocheting, etc. And I live in South Carolina, for now!

My girlfriend works in Columbia. I live in Ohio. We talk stamping all the time though. Got her hooked on Perfect Layers...I don't even have them yet...and she had no clue about Tim Holtz and those amazing flowers he does. She calls each weekend to see what the newest and latest stamping thing is. Sure do miss her.
I have 4 sisters and a brother but I am the only one that really has to be doing some sort of craft. I have been like this since forever so I am a 'Crafter 4 Life'!
Mine is just a nickname I have had forever...and since I joined SCS along time ago, it was available. My maiden name ended with "kins" so my friends just shortened my two names to Wendykins.

Not very creative with the name. All the cute and clever names were already gone and so after MANY tries I hit on the silly name that's kind of obvious. The 603 is lame too....just the area code for NH. I wanted to do RubberStampLady but I was new to all this stuff and thought I would have to type it out all the time so I shortened it up. Giggles...fun to visit this again!
I am a retired school librarian. When students went to art, music, physical education, guidance (counselor) or library classes, they were referred to as "sparcl" classes. Don't know where the "s" and the "r" came from or why there's no "m" for music. I can't remember if there were any others with this nickname, but I added my favorite number to the end.

Do YOU have a story to share?
Beverly
RavioliGirl
Hey there Beverly! I have been wondering how you got your SCS name!
I used to play an online game called Psychobabble. I don't think it exists anymore. I used the name 2CuteCats on there because, well, I have 2 cute cats and couldn't think of anything else at the time. When I came to SCS I still liked that name and used it here. One of my 2 cute cats is my avatar. That is Alex and he is the most lovable cat in the world! My other cat is Chloe. She is mostly white with some orange and brown on her head and tail. Anyway, that is my story.
Mine should be obvious to anyone who watches ACC basketball:
Tarheel born and Tarheel bred; when I die, I'll be Tarheel dead.
If God isn't a Tarheel fan, then why is the sky Carolina Blue?

I think I explained my in the previous thread but i'll share it again here.
I was a bead addict loooong before I was a stamping addict and after several attempts at trying to combine beading and stamping into a screen name I just kind of gave up when i looked down at my list of words i had for combining it hit me that I could blend "bead" and "addict" together to get Beaddict. And there you have it :-)

DuranFan- I just knew your screen name had something to do with Duran Duran. I can spot a Duran Duran fan a mile away. I was avid. My heart will always beat for John Taylor. I loved Simon at one time too. I am married too but every week I date a different celebrity, lol. My DH calls my celebrity crushes my boyfriends.
My screen name is a combination of things. I love lilacs. I love fairies. I love fantasy. I took all three of those items and made my own fantasy name. I came up with lylacfey.

Ah, I had guessed that your name was Fay and that you liked lilacs. I LOVE lilacs, too, but haven't had a whiff of one in years. I don't know if they'd even grow in my area.
I had no idea what I was getting into nor how much time I would spend on this site when I chose my name - a long time ago. So I just used initials - DH first, then mine.
Oh boy... mine is about as boring as they come... My name... LOL I'm Melissa but my friends call me Mel... DeLlanos is my last name(or as I like to say my first husband's name(yeah, I'm still married to him, he doesn't see the humor)... hehe).
Well... not too original here either... I heard about SCS from my friend and figured that I should join, seeing as I am a card maker too... but it looked funky with a 2! And not too long ago I saw a Cardladytoo so maybe I wasn't so off the mark!
It's a nickname my husband gave me when we met in the military. I had a perm and the hair on the top of my head was always messy when I woke up. There's a little more explanation to it in reference to my shirt but it's a bit risque for this forum.:-P
I'd like to take credit for mine, but can't. Wayyyy back in the late 90's, my daughter brought home her b/f's web tv (my first introduction to the world of cyberspace), and I found I had to have a screen name. My significant other was quite creative, and had 2 pages of 'punny' names. I wanted something with my name (Lynda) kinda sorta in the nic, and found this punny name in his list. I've been LynnGweeny ever since then.
I wasn't very creative with mine. I wanted something that I could remember so I went with jackie (my name) and when I tried to us it it came up that someone else was using it so I added the 1 and that worked.
duck...for my nickname growing up. There used to be a cartoon on TV called Yakky Doodle (who was a little duckling). My dad started calling me "Yakky Jackie" when I was little (maybe because I talked too much??)...and over the years, it evolved to "Duck". I have lots of "ducky" things, as a result
Sure is lots of fun to see the stories behind the names!

Well, once upon a time, a farm boy in Oklahoma got married and had a baby girl. He wanted to name her Yvonne, but his wife wasn't fond of the name. He played with it until he came up with Vyonie-- a name she liked. They had another child whom he named Schwinn (yes, like the bicycle). The wife was alone when the third child came along and she named him Randy but alas, the farm boy couldn't stomach such an ordinary name... and renamed the lad Berechyn-- after and pronounced similarly to George Gershwin.
The man and his wife separated and after a short while, he met a gal in California-- on a grunion run of all things. They married and moved to Bakersfield (Okie Capital of the world outside Oklahoma) and moved into Chatom Apartments. Later they moved back to Oklahoma and she gave birth to a child. The man had one final chance to make an amazing name that would be the piece de resistance. So he played with Chatom. Had she been a boy, she would have been Chatom (pronounced Shu-TOME) Victor. However, she was not. The name would have to be feminized. He announced the name with great pride and excitement.
Chautona (Shu-TONE-uh).
After all that, calling myself DesertRat or Mommx9 just seems anti-climatic. So, I stick with the name a hick boy from Oklahoma gave me.
not too original here either ... I didn't know what I was doing when I signed up for SCS - it was my first experience joining a forum of any kind! So, I kept it sorta anonymous and it matched my email addy at the time:
p (Paul, DH)
r (Rene, me!)
c (Caleb, my first child)
h (Hannah, my second child)
v (Van, first half of last name)
s (Stralen, second half of last name)
we had thought of adding more letters to our email addy but that would have been a MOUTHFUL! prchmjmvs ... no thanks
