Do you fall for SU's in-colors?
I'm just wondering.......
1. Do you buy the in-colors?
2. Do you use them once they retire?
3. What have been your favorites?
I always buy a few.
I tend not to use them once they retire. Wish I would.
I've been lucky that some of my favorites have been reinstated. Yay!
My faves have been Cool Caribbean, Pear Pizzazz, Blushing Bride, Coastal Cabana, Peach Parfait, Bermuda Bay, (was that an in-color?), and maybe my all time favorite-Blackberry Bliss.
As you can see I drift toward pastels. I also love brights!

And I love Cool Caribbean, Soft Sky, Pool Party, Bermuda Bay, COASTAL CABANA!!!, Lost Lagoon, Blushing Bride, Primrose Petals, Strawberry Slush, Raspberry Ripple, Poppy Parade, Dusty Durango, Blackberry Bliss, Concord Crush, Blue Bayou...
I see a theme here...;)
And I am also happy some came back to the core colors!
I usually try a package of cardstock with all of them in it and if there is nothing too close as far as ink is concerned, will get an ink pad or marker pack. I find there isn't much new under the sun anymore and most times an ink pad I have will be close enough for me.
This time though, I have and will keep pistachio because it really filled a void for a light green for me.
I just checked out the Panetone colour forecast for spring and it seems there are pastels making a comeback as well as a sort of emerald green. I wonder what SU uses as a basis for their choices each year.
I always buy the in color markers and a pack of the assorted card stock. If I fall in love with a color I buy the ink pad and refill. But I will not stock up on in color card stock because I tend to not use it except on trial run projects. My favorites at the moment are lost lagoon, blackberry bliss, mossy meadow and baked brown sugar. Baja was a favorite and I still have a few sheets that I'm hoarding!

Muscat,
Yes, Baja was my favorite go to blue and I think I stocked up on three pkgs. Baja is a retired color I use all the time still! Was it originally an In-color?
An emerald green would be awesome!

Raspberry Ripple was a beautiful color I never bought. I'd buy it for sure if it made it to the core color group.

I usually avoid them. Especially when they were first introduced they were only available for one year. There has never been a color that I loved so much I just had to have it. I just hated the idea that I would end up with an ink pad and no paper to match....
BUT, the Blackberry Bliss finally got me. I love purple and the SU line has been low on purples for awhile. In fact, this most recent set of In-Colors I really liked the whole bunch.
I still didn't want to invest in all the ink pads but I bought an assortment pack of the paper, and a single pack of Blackberry Bliss with the ink pad.

Yes, it was in the subtles core group before they revamped the color families. I did manage to get a foam ink pad before it retired so I have two ink pads and a reinker.
Usually I really like two or three of the colors, and not the rest very much. The colors that will retire this year are an exception, I like every one of them.
I usually get the assorted cardstock first and then buy individual packs if I'm really drawn to a color. I only have two ink pads that I bought when they were in colors, Cool Caribbean and Bermuda Bay. Those were also the only colors I stocked up on cardstock. I do have a few ink pads that started as in colors, but I bought them when they became part of the regular lineup.
I find that I can usually make an ink pad I own work well enough, for example I use my retired Regal Rose with the current Strawberry Slush. As long as colors coordinate and not clash, I'm fine.
As far as my favorite in colors go, obviously Cool Caribbean and Bermuda Bay were favorites, but I also really liked Raspberry Ripple, Strawberry Slush, Coastal Cabbana, Concord Crush, Lucky Limeade, and Island Indigo.

Yes I buy in colors. Sometimes the whole line or just a color or two.
I am not a demo, so it does not matter to me if colors retire. If I like the color, I will use the paper till it is gone.
But I will NEVER buy multiple packs when they retire. I still have cranberry crisp and thyme paper from the very first year the in colors started.!

I usually get the cardstock pack and ink refills of the colors I love - no full-size pads. I make my own spots. I used to buy extra cardstock of the colors I love, but may stop doing that - I can always swipe ink around the edge of white to make it match...
I still miss Riding Hood Red and Baja Breeze and Kiwi Kiss...

1. Do you buy the in-colors? Always, with reinkers and markers.
2. Do you use them once they retire? For personal use but not business use, but I do keep them all.
3. What have been your favorites? Right now it's Coastal Cabana for blue and Strawberry Slush.
When the new annual catalog goes live, I always get the cardstock / ink pads bundle because it's such a great value and for a PT business demo, you have 2 yrs to use it, which is nice. I didn't think I like the new in-colors (Tangelo Twist....etc) and I've already finished 1 pack each of Lost Lagoon and Hello Honey!

I just found your link to your blog post about how you made them! Thanks for sharing that!
When I was a demo I always got the pads and the paper, but now I tend more toward the markers. I haven't purchased this year's colors yet, but I've been in kind of a stamping slump with life stresses taking my attention. I also have moved away from dp so don't feel as much need to have the papers to go with the current dp though I do like to play along in the color challenges and it is so much simpler to just use the current colors than try to substitute.
I love neutrals and blues so some of my faves are River Rock, Soft Suede, Baja Breeze, Soft Sky, and Midnight Muse.
I get the paper assortment and all the ink pads. If I love a color, I buy more paper packs; if not, then I just use up the few sheets from the assortment, and if I ever want that color again I just stamp in it on white.
I do keep some of my favorites for personal use. I am just now on my last few, slightly fading sheets of Mellow Moss (love it) but I still have the pad and some ink left in the refill, so I'll prolly use that till it runs out. I loved River Rock too, and I bought several unopened packs of carstock from a friend recently so I still have that and use it a lot esp for card bases.
Groovy Guava was another favorite of all time. I don't have the pad or paper, but I am finding Crisp Cantaloupe to be a very fine substitute!
Another color I loved was the Pomegranate one -- I still have a teeny bit of ribbon that color and it's so pretty!
I will usually only buy in colours if the colour appeals to me. I usually buy cardstock and an inkpad. Some years I buy none, some years 1 or more. If I really like the majority of the colours, I might buy the markers. I think it has been 2 or 3 years since I bought one, but I will probably buy blackberry bliss this year as I quite like it. I don't buy dozens of packs of paper when the colour retires, but I will often buy a couple.

I loved and bought all the accoutrements to last year's in colors...this year the colors have grown on me but they are so close to other colors I have that I didn't go whole hog...except for BlackBerry Bliss. I don't use purple much, not a color I like but BB is gorgeous! So it is now a part of my craft stash
I used to buy extra cardstock of the colors I love, but may stop doing that - I can always swipe ink around the edge of white to make it match...
Something I've done when I've run out of CS to match an ink pad is ink up my SU Linen background stamp and stamp it on Whisper White CS. Ta-dahhh, instant matching CS!
Oh, and I never bought any of the in-colors when they were only around for 1 year. Now that we have them for 2 years I've been buying them. I buy the package with the whole set of ink pads, etc. Then individual packs of the colors I especially like.
I always buy all the in colors paper, ink pads and refills and markers.. I also buy up to 10 packages of my favs before they retire. I got 10 crushed curry packs and 11 cool caribbean. Its awful when you run out of a fav. I will be stocking up on those that retire this year over the next couple months.
Blessings.
I always get the assortment pack of cs and markers. I will get 1 or2 full packs if I really like the color and there isn't something already close to it. As for ink pads, I bought some way back when I first started and most of those made it into the core colors in 2010. The only ink pads that I've bought while they were still InColors since then are Baked Brown Sugar and Mossy Meadow (I like it better than the more muddy Always Artichoke)
What is interesting is that I ignored Crushed Curry when it was first out but got the whole collection of it when it returned in 2013. The only other yellow ink pad I have is a rather beat up Summer Sun and I've been out of the cs for years. My other yellows are just markers and cs.
No I do not because they discontinue as fast as you fall for them. Many of my all time favorites disappeared such as going gray, a favorite for grounding your image. I just learned to shop elsewhere. Sorry, SU. They have a good thing going but changes in formulation make your new reinkers not compatible with your old colors. that you love.
1. Do you buy the in-colors? Yes, the ink pads, refills, cardstock and the markers.
2. Do you use them once they retire? Of course! I may not use a lot of the retired colors in any card I post as a Stampin' Up! Demo, but my Pinterest page and my family doesn't care if the colors are retired or not.
3. What have been your favorites? Not Quite Navy, Lucky Limeade, Baja Breeze, Sage Shadow, Lavender Lace & Bordering Blue to name a few...and Creamy Caramel.
I can honestly say was not crazy about the 2013-2015 colors at first, but now I use them quite a bit except for Baked Brown Sugar. I just cannot make myself like that color!
The 2014-2016 In-Colors line up is Lost Lagoon, Blackberry Bliss, Mossy Meadow, Hello Honey and Tangelo Twist. When they were announced, all I thought was, "Not another frikkin' ORANGE!" Tangerine Tango, Pumpkin Pie, Crisp Cantaloupe, Calypso Coral isn't enough? We had to add Tangelo Twist?! Egad.
I started in 2013 posting in the SU Demo Sandbox (it is a Demo only site where we can suggest things), and started posting for a teal blue color.
Finally, in last year's lineup came Lost Lagoon! Not quite the Teal I was hoping for, but it is beautiful!
I hope that when the next color re-vamp comes that Lost Lagoon stays in the lineup.
I have bought 10 packs of cardstock in Lost Lagoon, Blackberry Bliss and Mossy Meadow. I also bought 2 reinkers, but I will buy more before they retire and I bought 2 pads of the 2014-2016 background DSP.
If it were up to me, I'd bring back some and get rid of others.
Choose either Elegant Eggplant OR Rich Razzleberry and move in Blackberry Bliss
Lavender Lace can replace Wisteria Wonder
Let Shadow Sage supplant Always Artichoke
Sahara Sand - out, Creamy Caramel - in.
Pick off one of the oranges and put in something completely different like Bordering Blue, Brilliant Blue or Not Quite Navy.
I can't help myself, I love blues!!
Most recently, I suggested (along with many, many other Demos) a set of framelits for the Perfect Blend stamp set. I love the set but get tired of cutting it out.;)

lmbo Gotta say, that's very, very close to my thoughts when I first saw Tangelo Twist.
I usually buy the assorted pack of cardstock, and if I find one I like, I will buy an individual pack and maybe the ink/reinker.
The one exception was this year's in colors -- way too Regal for me. I didn't even get the assorted cardstock pack.
I loved last year's in colors, but a few were too similar to retired colors I've hoarded. Pool Party=Cool Caribbean, Wisteria=Amethyst. I did like Cantaloupe Crisp and Pistachio.
My personal and humble opinion is that the In Colors become a testing ground for changes in the core color lineup. When Tangelo Twist came out my thought (after "ANOTHER orange???") was..."maybe Tangelo Twist will become ONE orange replacement for Pumpkin Pie AND Tangerine Tango. I have to admit that I like Tangelo way better than the other two!

Yes, after reading all these posts I think you're right! I don't remember some of them starting out as in colors. I don't remember Baja or Melon Mambo or RidingHood being in colors!

2. Do you use them once they retire? YES ... I am not a demo but I use nothing but the SU cardstock and being slightly anal retentive I must have the colors to match.
3. What have been your favorites? Pretty much ALL of them!!!
I try not to fall for them, but I usually do! In fact, I just ordered the collection of pads and paper of the last set of in-colors. I'm super excited for the Crisp Cantaloupe and Pistachio Pudding.
In the past I bought way too much of the in-colors because I was worried about running out when they're not available, but now I have too much and will probably be selling some off soon. So for now I will just start with pads and one pack of assorted cardstock.
1. Do you buy the in-colors? Yes, but only if I REALLY like them. I won't by just because they're "in" or going to retire.
2. Do you use them once they retire? Yes, but not as fast as I should!
3. What have been your favorites? Baja Breeze, Kiwi Kiss, Soft Sky.
