Default Advice needed: homemade envelopes

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. If I make envelopes to match my cards, they never stay glued if I use dsp or any other card stock. They will only stay glued if I use computer paper. I have been using tomboy glue, the runner kind. What do you use?

I use an ATG gun - never had a problem. I know that some folk use Sticky Strip or redline tape or whatever it's called. Double-stick tape like Scotch brand would probably work, too.

I have used the Tombow mono multi (in the green bottle) and that works fine. I don't like the Tombow tape runner because it doesn't hold for my projects at all. I also use the ATG gun or red-line tape.

I use a liquid glue..Alleen's Tacky. Love it. I just pricked a hole in the top of the bottle instead of snipping it with my scissors. It lets a more manageable amount of glue come out. I really don't trust runner tapes of any kind on envelopes.

I really like the silicone based glues. Here in my city it is very humid and this glue never failed to disappoint.

You can find this glue named as "Zip Dry Paper Glue" from Beacon. Here is a review of this glue:

I also use the tombow mono multi with success.

I use scor tape on mine and have had very good luck with them staying together.

I love making envelopes from old calendars. The weight is fabulous on good quality calendars, and I use Scor-Tape which holds them securely!

What do you use on an envelope for a card you are selling and it won't be sealed until they send it to someone?

My local scrapbook store carries a product called "lick and stick" which is made for this very purpose. The part that you put on the closure dries and when you lick it and it activates the glue for you to close and seal your envie.

I find plain old cheap glue sticks work well if you get a good layer on there and burnish with a bone folder.

Scor tape would work for this too. On the top flap of the envelope you lay down your score tape but just don't peel the adhesive off. They can peel the adhesive off when they're ready to mail and seal it.

It depends upon the paper I use for the envelope. If it is lighter weight paper, runner tape will work but usually use the ATG. If it is heavier cardstock I use the scor-tape or redliner. I also make certain I use my bonefolder to crease the heavier paper harder than if it is light weight.

I use what is called "scrapbook tape" or "photo & document tape" which both have different color packaging, but I can't see a difference in the product itself (sometimes I can only find one or the other). They are double-sided, but there is a carrier on one side that remains when applied to the envelope flap until removed by the user. I make lots of envelopes and use it on each one---quick, easy and effective.

I use an easy peel double sided tape so the sender can pull it off before sending.

I have been making and using the following homemade lick and stick for the envelopes that go with cards that are being donated for later use. It is:

ENVELOPE GLUE RECIPE - Licky Sticky Glue from Karen Craig

Ingredients:

1 tsp Elmer's Glue
1/2 tsp. vinegar
2 drops mint flavoring

I mix it together, store in a cleaned out prescription bottle. When I have a stack of envelopes ready, I use a Q-tip to apply it and let it dry. Works like a charm.

That is my envie technique too. If I need something stronger I will use double sided tape. Love my glue sticks.

I use a thin line to Tombow mono-multi glue or 1/4" scor tape to hold my envelopes together.

When I'm ready to use the envelope, I use a glue stick to seal it shut.

I use double sided tape, it works very well, although a bit expensive if you are making a lot of envelopes

I also use the Tombo multi purpose glue, let it dry and add a nicely cut strip of wax paper and then whom ever uses the card has a sealable envelope!
