I always try to leave a comment for someone who leaves one for me and I always try to leave it on a card that has zero or few comments - so if you need some love leave a comment in my gallery (I also have cards and scrapbook pages with zero comments). I will try to search through you r galleries and leave some love.
I also go to today's additions and go to the very last page and try to get some comment sin on zero comment cards before they are "lost" forever.
I think it is very important to leave comments - it does only take a second.
Ok - off to see what you all have been up to!
I loved your gallery!
Pretty cards and colors!
It reminds me to take pictures of some of my recent cards and post in my gallery again. I will probably do so tomorrow!
Thanks for your positive comments in this thread!
TY missinkyfingers!! I appreciate it. I need to see who I missed as well... further back in the thread.
I hope everyone is having a great Sunday.
are you originally from KY?
Nope, I have lived in Michigan all my life. Just said that earlier today to someone, talking about the jobs (or lack of) here. Even though I'm employed it's tough here and seems like it's getting worse every day. My brother just got severed and will be traveling to states he has contacts in surveying the job market.
I'll be back tomorrow to post more comments. I've enjoyed leaving them as well as receiving them.
I am a terrible sleeper, too! Now I know what to do when I just can't get some zzzs and my husband is raising the roof with his snoring!
Got that going on right now........DBF can snore like the dickens and right now he's sick so it's cough/snore, etc. I've not gone to bed but need to and I think I'm going to get my blankie and pillow and sleep on the couch even though he hates when I do that but I don't get sleep otherwise. Most the time I can get through it but not if I'm not already asleep (which I usually go to bed first or same time) or sleepy.
What a great idea! I usually try to post a comment whenever I look at a card - especially if I add it to my favs! I am going to check out a few galleries now.

It's funny that this thread caught my eye - I've tried to leave comments on at least 3 cards a day.....there are so many beautiful cards and I was guilty of just looking and moving on to the next one but trying to comment more!

Oh wow that is tough. I know I keep hearing of layoffs and business closings all over the US. So far I have not heard of any of that around here. I hope your brother finds something soon.
I started one of the critique threads. I don't care about the number of comments I get, but I really wanted constructive comments rather then "nice job" sort of things, so I asked for constructive comments. A few others have played along regularly. I find it helpful. I know others don't care for that sort of thing, but SCS is a big place so something for everyone! Thanks to everyone who has played the constructive comment game. (I have not posted a new thing in ages!)

Thanks! Been meaning to check back in and do that... I added a couple more cards to my gallery, if you wanna check it out. I have been leaving comments on the daily additions. I'm gonna check out some more after reading the forums!
I'm new to posting in the gallery and do not get very many comments, but if I at least get 1 or 2 I don't feel bad. I know alot of stampers have followers that keep up with their submissions and as stated above about challenges. It does make me happy though to see how many people have at least viewed my upload. I try to leave a comment when I like a card enough tokdo the close up view on it.
this is the first time this thread caught my eye, so thanks for bumping it up!! I try to comment when and where I can on cards that I like, regardless of the number of comments.
I do participate in the challenges when time allows and have noticed that comments always increase because of that. BUT, I create because I like to, not necessarily because I'm good at it or because I crave comments. I certainly appreciate it, though!! Comments encourage each of us to do the best we can. Just like anyone, positive reinforcement goes a looooooooooooooong way.
I am always amazed at the dedication many here give to commenting regularly on so many cards. I am definitely going to try harder to comment more!
I'm just so bad about remembering to add comments! I look, browse, "ooh" and "ahh" but just forget! Sometimes I even print them out - but manage to forget that extra step. Doesn't mean I don't appreciate all that I see - I'll try to do better.
I have to sigh and say yes, my gallery has some zero comments on some cards...
I don't take it too badly though because I had a great time making the card and I always learn from them!
I will go back and post some comments on some of these zero comments works of art!!!
I am glad you BUMP'ed this one, I had almost forgotten about it! I do try to comment on ones I have added to my favs but will try to leave more comments on others, too.

I feel exactly the same, if it hadnt been for this thread, i would still have no comments. I recently posted what i felt was my best ever and had 612 views on it and not 1 comment, :( but i am still proud of it.
It is true that if you post into a challenge you will get more comments. That said, the more you comment on others cards - the more likely it is that someone will comment back. It reminds me of the old adage - to have a friend you have to be one.
If you check a person's public profile - you can then click on statistics and see how many post's - comments per day a person makes on average.
Generally I have noticed that the more comments or posts one makes in a day - the more comments your recieve in return.
In addition there are a couple of threads in which you can comment on a couple of cards - and the person behind you comments on your cards.
Hey Everyone! Someone put me in touch with this gallery because I have such strong feelings about comments.
When I first started uploading, my cards didnt receive any comments either. How discouraging. When I look back on those cards, I can clearly see why they didnt warrant comments, but that shock of not having anyone like my cards was more than intimidating.
Here's what I think: I used to, many months ago, leave comments everyday on cards that had no comments. It didnt take me long, though, to realize I was spending an inordinate amount of time leaving comments on these cards, but the creator apparently didnt feel it was necessary for them to return a compliment! Let me assure you, I now only gloss over those SCSers. It's like this: If you want a comment, you need to leave a comment. I'm baffled how so many people express their disdain for not having any comments on their cards, but yet fail to realize they perhaps are guilty of the very same thing.
It's our nature to want to be complimented; but it's a two-way street. If you want comments, you need to leave comments. How long do you think someone is going to leave comments on someone's card if they cant take the time to return something I consider to be common courtesy? You dont have to love someone's card to leave a comment! In fact, many of the cards I comment on I dont necessarily care for, but I appreciate the time and energy it takes to create a card.
Yes, those that participate in the challenges do receive many more comments; we all try to support each other, whether we really like the card or not.
So, everyone, say what you will about not receiving comments. If you want comments, leave comments!

I know it can be discouraging to put your heart and soul into creating a card and then you feel as if no one has noticed because you get no comments....only people looking. Don't lose sight of why we create our cards...hopefully it is because you love doing it and it is a great way to express yourself. Just keep in mind the joy in the persons face that receives your card that you spent time creating for them. Often my cards have received few to no comments but seeing the joy in the person that is receiving the card makes it all worthwhile for me. It is easy to go out and buy a card but takes far more imagination, creativity and time to make your own. They often become keepsakes for the receiver.
Just my thoughts.....
and yes, I do try and leave comments on zero comment cards as so often I think they have just become lost in the sheer number of cards posted on this site....
I know it's a touchy subject. I do leave comments. I favorite, I post, and I do some challenges. I know there's lots of cards, and little time. I'm not saying post something for each one! Just posting here and there to make someone's day. PLEASE don't take it wrong. I was trying to be positive.
I love this site .. I have learned so much from all the talent on here. I too have my many 0 comment cards and some I think are good and some of course not so good. OK I admit when the ones I think are pretty good get no comments I feel a little down. Yikes I said it. I do comment on cards and have joined in on comment threads. Yes I could do more as well. I try to look at it as a growing experience as well.. if I get 0 comments I try to pump it up a bit on the next card. I try and use all cards I view as inspiration ... but mine always end up looking like MINE LOL.. I guess that in itself is a good thing ..
In the end ... if you enjoy your craft... you take pride in your work and you bring a smile to someones face with your cardart .. that really should be compliment enough. (I try to follow this myself but admit sometimes a comment or 2 would be nice ;) )
Anyhooooo I am off to some of the galleries on this thread to comment ....
Have a great day , it is snowing here AGAIN .... will it ever end ....

I'm with ya, sister ;) I always try to find a neglected card in someone's gallery and comment on THAT one, rather than on the one on the first page which already has a ton of comments (if I'm browsing someone's gallery, that is).
The biggest reason it bothers me is that, when I am looking for cards to inspire me, I like to sort by # of comments so I am not wading through 84 pages...but then, I end up with mostly the "challenge" cards, which may not always be the BEST examples.
And then, like you said, there's a card I'm really proud of and it took me 3 hours to make, and no one comments LOL Conversely, there are some cards that get several comments which I think are so-so; so either I have bad taste or it's just random!

Sometimes i look at a card only to find there is no "recipe",not a hint of which stamps paper etc has been used. Sometimes there is just "deets on my blog" . I will not go to the blog and i will not leave a comment. Having said this i judge my own cards by how many people have looked rather than how many comments as time is sometimes too short considering the amount of uploads per day.
I like looking through "Today's Additions" and leaving comments, and always leave a comment if I "favorite" a card. But overall, it seems that if you use a popular SU stamp set, you tend to get more looks and comments than if you use less popular sets or non-SU sets. Do other people find that to be true?

I think it is true, too. I do have a lot of SU stamps and do look according to the set to get more ideas.
