I tell you, I can make a huge mess in no time. I live alone so there's no one to urge me to clean up after myself. My craft room was a disaster. Today I got the urge to clean up. Ahhhhhhh, I now have room to work. Wish it would stay this way but I know me.:o:p

Yes, I live alone also.....Once I clean it up it inspires me to stay that way. I hate it when things get a mess but I usually have to have the "push" of visitors or family coming over to keep up on things...not just my craft room! So I hear ya!
My room is a total disaster area and has been for awhile. It is at the far end of the basement, so far out of the sight of anyone - including me these days. I something think that I need to move it upstairs so I would use it more and clean it more.

Are you serious? Mine is a total mess - always. Even when I clean it up, it doesn't look great. My room is right off the livingroom, but it has a door so I can make it disappear when I have to.

LOL...I USE to always have a mess...WHEN I had my very own craft room now with custody of the grandkids I'm out here in the corner of the family room....I have gotten in the habit of putting things back RIGHT after I use them...when I use a punch back in the drawer it goes, use dsp, back in the right folder it goes, stamps are a hugh problem for me I HATE to clean stamps....so I have a shoebox plastic container and throw them in there and off and on go thru it and clean them...
BUT, I've been doing one type of craft or another and now with limited space everything has it OWN PLACE ... I found when they didn't that's when I always had a mess.....now I'm organized, it's easier..but I'm ALWAYS organizing!!!!
don't fret about, it.....it's about having a GOOD TIME and YOUR TIME.....ENJOY your time, your creativity and your mess....
Mine is almost always messy, too. I love it when it's clean, but it rarely stays that way for long. Luckily, I can shut the door and forget about it! ;)
Disarray!?? That's on a GOOD day. I have a craft studio that is detached from my house--nobody sees it but me, and I have NO incentive to keep it neat, unfortunately. It's getting bad, to the point where I really can't find anything I need or space to work...I am hoping to get some time over Easter break to shovel out the mess and start over. I figure it should take me 2 or 3 days......*sigh*
I'm with most of the rest of you! I make one card and make a huge mess! lol I stamp at my dining room table so it's a constant clean up & re-mess. I try to do a lot of stamping in between the hours of 7pm (after dinner) and 2pm (when DD gets home from school). I find that if I leave my stuff out overnight then I'm likely to stamp first thing in the morning.
Of course, this doesn't do any good for the rest of the house when it's messy but oh well. lol
To answer the OP's original question - YES! I am a hot mess! lol
Normally, mine is a disaster. But, we just moved into a new house and I have everything put away and have been cleaning up after myself with each new project. Will it last? Heck no! I work best in chaos.
Absolutely. My goal tomorrow is as a matter of fact to try and organize the mess. I'm fortunate that it is in it's own room with a door that can be closed.
I'm glad to see I'm in good company. I share the 2nd bedroom of a 2 bedroom apartment as office space with my husband. Can't wait til we move into a house so I can spread out more. (of course that just means I can make a bigger mess.) I've been promised a room of my own and all the furniture / storage I want. Bwhahahaha!!!
DH just saw this thread and asked me, "Is you craftroom in disarray?" I looked and said, "No." LOL We both got a chuckle out of this one! I am sitting in the midst of a huge mess! I have to "find" my table before I can get to work. That's on the agenda for this evening! Sorry to say it will be a mess by tomorrow.... LOL

No craft room, yet....escrow closes in 25 days, I'll let you know! :-) I'm sure it'll be in disarray @ first, but soon it will be a haven of loveliness!
Yep. Totally nuked! I was up until 4am making 70 magnets to give out at our Ladie's Day at church today so of course it's a disaster right now, and that was on top of the already existing disaster that is still under the top layer! Gonna' take me hours to make sense of it all.
I almost feel like I can't be creative without the 'pseunomi wake' that I leave behind! If you look back at the mess it's hard to believe anything pretty or put together can come from that mess! As a matter of fact, I'm procrastinating cleaning it up as I type. So now I'm off to try to rake it into a pile and set fire to it ((JKidding!!!)).. but it would be faster!
Since I am so depressed I have been going on crazy shopping sprees for craft supplies. So my whole craft area, i.e. the living room, is a whirlwind of NIP stuff thrown all around. I just take the items out of the boxes and put everything in the tables I work on, but haven't gotten around to putting things away, again cuz I am depressed. So yeah it looks like a store just got a load of inventory which hasn't been accommodated.
Mine is a mess while I'm working, but I've finally organized it and that makes it easy and quick to clean up. I actually just cleaned it up so I can switch from papercrafting mode to quilting mode. But Mother's day is around the corner, so I need to get the quilting done so I can get back to cards!
Oh, you are supposed to pick up afterwards. That one escapes me ;) Fortunately I can close the door!! About once a week I can't stand it and am forced to put everything back where it belongs.
Mine's a bit of a mess right now. I bought three new storage cubes and door for a 4th cube. Along with a desktop that goes between the cubes to make a work area. But I have to order the 4th cube, so it is all just sitting there in boxes until I order the last one.
Oh, and my glasstop desk has a bunch of fingerprints on it too. But that's it. The rest is neat as a pin.

Craft room disarray!!
I have a messy room! I spend half the time crafting and half packing away, and it doesn't look like I have been packing away at all. So, it means that I unpack more stuff crafting than I have time to pack away! I need to clean up soon, I am getting visitors over and my husband hates it when my room's a mess.
Normally my area is clean... but when I get sick and have a major art project to finish it gets a little messy. So right now I don't even want to look at it. But the second I start to feel better, I start to clean up. Even if it is 1am and I have work tomorrow :/
I just moved in with my boyf... and we just found out our lease is up and they want to sell the house. Sux cos I just got my craft room the way I wanted!!!!! Now its messy again but only cos I have to pack it up again.... sigh. But I will for the love of the craft! lol

My room is moderately tidy. It's in an attic extension, so it's not a public space, but DH uses my PC a bit sometimes. But the table - I clean it every evening, and the next day it needs cleaning all over again. One card is enough to make a mess. I do try to put everything back on the shelves as I go, like the boxes of ribbons and so on. But I use my Wizards on the floor, so next thing the embossing folders and plates are on the floor too...DH just says making a mess is part of being creative, so not to bother about it.
When I had a whole room upstairs it was always a disaster. When I could no longer get upstairs easily because of knee problems, everything was brought downstairs, and I turned half of a closet into a craft spot.
It has double doors on which I've hung organizers for ribbons and punches. and I've hung my paper cutters, rulers, and ScorPal on hooks. (I drilled a hole in the ScorPal. Don't know why it doesn't come with one.)
We put in two base cabinets and have yet to hang the two narrow wall cabinets. We'll be putting some shelving between them. I'll be storing my Nesties on magnetic stips on the inside of the cabinet doors.
I bought a Sauder craft/sewing table from Walmart.com which is on casters and has all sorts of wonderful storage space and has a leaf that folds out to create a large surface area. This sits in front of the closed closet doors when I'm not crafting.
To get to the point, I've found that with less space, I'm much more organized. Everything is right at hand, and putting things back is much easier.
I LOVE stamping out of a closet!

Put it this way-I share the basement with my kids and thanks to a 7yr. old with OCD, their side is neat and tidy~ Mom's side is a danger zone. There is a NO TOUCH policy in effect on my stuff which is the only reason he has not tried to clean my side too. I seem to work better in chaos so my side will most likely always be messy.
Thar is the only problem having my room off of the livingroom and no way to not see the mess. Right now all I have is path from the doorway to my desk. My DH is out all day at a meeting so I am hoping to try to spend the day in there.
I actually cleaned my room up earlier this week. But then I decided to stamp on Friday and Saturday and now it's a mess again. It'll be clean by Thursday, though, because I have a card class.

I share the room with my kids toys. It's always a mess (even if my side is clean!)

When I got preg a few years ago, my dh moved his office in and took over all but one wall of my craft room. I did pretty good at keeping it tidy, but with the arrival of the second kiddo, the amount of time I spend back there is just long enough to dump something or dig something out. I craft at the coffee table in the living room off of a tool bag and a cookie sheet loaded with supplies for my current project. It makes keeping the living room clean, very easy. My actual space however could be rated as an emergency disaster area and qualify for FEMA assistance.
I have figured out the problem . We have to much stuff if we only had a few items there would be no mess. We just have too much to chose from. This from a person whos craft room is a mess and just came back from a shopping spree.

I love you, Toy. We are kindred spirits, methinks. ;) I tend to refer affectionately to my stamping area as "creative chaos" room. *chuckle*

I think I spend just as much time cleaning up my craft room as I do making cards! The other day I spent several hours cleaning and re-organizing my room. It felt SO good! Everything had a place and a place for everything. So I sit down for an hour to work on a card and voila. Messy again!!! Unreal.
Whoo! I feel so good, my creating space is neat, I can see the top of my work space not just the 6 square inches I have clear by the time I finish a project. My closet is cleaned out so I have more room to "hide" the floor piles. Speaking of which I cleaned up and filed today.
