I can not believe this, but this person is selling a Stampin Up Word Window Punch for 49.99! With a 10.62 shipping charge! She also has a buy it now price of 55.00. I can not believe how some people try to rip others off!
Check out this link:

Wow...I thought she was full of it about the $60 one, but apparently not! (link removed) showing recent completed auctions for this punch. What the heck??!! What's the deal that they go for so much??

Reason: removed ebay link
I saw a couple of auctions (not hers) that say it's retired. THAT kind of misrepresentation really bothers me, and it's not all that uncommon on ebay, either.
Most of the ones that are up for auction are from the same sellers too! That makes me really angry!!! Are people buying them because they don't have a demonstrator?

I'm not in any way sticking up for these kind of sellers, I can't believe how many people will pay unbelievable prices for things. But buyers have to be aware when they buy something on websites like this. Anything that you buy from individuals online (like auction sites or any other site) is "buyer beware".
It's no different than going to a rummage sale. The seller puts whatever price they want on something and it is up to the buyer to decide the value or what they are willing to pay, etc. Anyone can go to the Stampin' Up website and look to see if the punch is available and the price. The website also will give you a list of demos for your area. I don't bid on anything that I don't know (or take the time to look up) the value of.
If a seller misrepresents an item in the listing, a buyer can complain to eBay and to Paypal if they used them to pay for it. It will usually be resolved. I have had the experience of not receiving an item I purchased. I filed a complaint with Paypal and received the item within a few days. Just know that you have a specific period of time that you have to make the complaint and don't wait too long.
Ebay has the feedback system to let bidders see how previous buyers felt about their purchases/sales from the seller. But you have to look at the sellers feedback and see if it is from previous sales or purchases made by the seller. The problem with the system is that buyers have to have bad experiences before the rating reflects problems. I'm usually more wary of new sellers that don't have very many feedbacks.
As to the issue of the seller being a demo and selling on ebay; can't they be reported to Stampin Up? I'm sure SU can find out who the seller is.
Is this legal that she can actually sell a current Stampin' Up item on Ebay and for that kind of inflated price?? She is also selling the Crop-a-Dile, but that is for the same price (or about) what it goes for in a store.
This seems kinda fishy to me just like a few other Ebay auctions that have been talked about on this forum.
It would be nice to think that someone from SU is doing the bidding so they can win the product and have proof to nail the person, if they're a demo, for breaking the rules. Wouldn't it?

If she is a demo, then no it is not legal - it is against SU! policy.
If she is a customer, then she is fine.

usually I side with the sellers on these. I mean if someone's willing to pay it good for them, it's a market, they deserve to get what people want to pay.
But this listing is worded to give the impression that I cannot just buy this item from my demo. At least it feels that way. It reads like the punch is scarcer than I think it is.
IS it backordered? Usually SU resolves backorders within a few weeks at the most right?
So maybe "If you want this popular punch while it's backordered I've got it for you" but the way she has it makes it feel like if you want it AT ALL you gotta get it on the secondary market.
So I'm torn on this one.

Yeah, this would be great profit for you to sell all of these punches to one customer but I cant see myself doing it. Profit or not it just seems down right wrong to mee. What would you do if a customer wanted to order 20+ of the same punch from you?
I might ask
i see both sides. ONE is the buyer is willing to buy a product at an inflated price, that is their decision. Its just the same as someone buying a regular tee from Target compared to Saks.
TWO i am upset with sellers who charge outrageous shipping prices. Like this lady charging $25 for shipping when she only paid 2.55
I know I always get upset when i buy on ebay and the shipping i paid was much higher then what was on the actual box. Am I alone on this?
That is insane - can't wait to see if she gets any suckers (well, buyers) for that. I will automatically assume that if anyone bids, they are a sucker. I never realized that was a back-ordered item. I got mine with no problems, as did a friend who ordered hers a month or two before I did. I am really amazed at what people will pay. And, I saw one recently at HL that had 3 sizes of windows on it so yet another option other than paying $50.
I sent her an email letting her know that this is not discontinued, nor is it backordered. I asked how she could justify herself doing this and this is her response: Dear lmiravete,
I KNOW how long it took me to get these punches..I wouldn't be a good ebay seller (since 1999) if I didn't do some research before posting. A punch sold over $60 recently AND I do have 12 watchers on my items. Thanks for your interest tho. Did you actually have a ?? or just stirring the pot???
- chantz89
Little does she know these "watchers" are us Splitcoasters dying to see if someone actually buys it! Laurie
Okay....I just had to check out the completed items for this punch. I am shocked at how much they are selling for! This punch really did sell for $60 and another one sold for $50! I don't understand .....it's like $16.95 in the catalog. Well...to each their own I guess, but with gas just over $4 a gallon I would order it from my demo first.
i can't believe people are ordering them for this much. do they have a demo near them? maybe their buying for the convenience factor, since SU! takes a few days to pack your order before it even ships!
I wonder if the price is high because she offers to ship internationally. If you are in Brazil or Russia and you want SU you have to buy it this way...just a thought...
