Can't live without my Tervis! Makes a great gift, too!
I've gotten EVERYONE I Know one of these - lid & all, including MYSELF! Definitely CRAFT WORTHY AND they're made in the USA! =) Don't craft without it! =)
I should know by now NOT to try and make anything when my kids are in my studio. Not to follow that " this is a great idea" when they have my stamps out. Not to say" this needs to be emobssed" when they are within ear shot..
I used a lightbox on top of my cutting mat (a large one that covers most of my available space). It made a huge bulge that was awful for working on. I flipped it around and used it anyway (for a couple of years). Finally I got a great coupon & bought a new cutting mat.
First thing I did? Heat up my Melting Pot on it. I had (quite literally) only owned it for 12 hours or so before it had a giant bulge in it.
Thankfully hubby took pity on me and bought me a third!

This reminds me of Valentine's day about four years ago when my husband got me a pair of white gold and pink sapphire earrings and I promptly lost one before I even went to bed that night--a $400 pair of earrings!! I never found the earring. Not that I know this for sure, but there had been a snow storm and I think it may have fallen off in my driveway just before my husband snowblowed.
My husband was wonderful though--he bought me an identical pair of earrings the next year for Valentine's Day. Now the only problem is that I can no longer wear earrings--the holes closed about 1 1/2 years ago even though I had had my ears pierced since I was 10 years old and I am 46 now. I've recently been thinking about getting them pierced again. I have some nice earrings!

Great thread! Ditto to all of the above comments. There is a corollary to Murphey's law that states the odds of a piece of buttered bread falling butter side down rises in proportion to the cost of the carpet. In my house, the odds of an ink pad falling ink side down rises in proportion to the darkness of the ink! (house has beige carpet :mad

These are so funny. I can relate to all of them. Especially measure twice cut once. I say that over and over when I am cutting - and still do it wrong!!
I have to add something one customer did. She glued her stamped image onto the back of one of my sample cards during the class. She only realised when we were packing up!!! We still have a laugh at that. Now every class she turns the card over first to check!!
Make a card you are really happy with, turn it over, stamp you "created by" etc and then realize it is upside down or going the wrong way!!!!
Believe it or not, I now stamp the back first so I do it right! Great thread!
I did this many times and now I open the card out. That way I don't get it upside down or incorrectly horizontally or vertically. I jul probably mess up the front if I stamped the back first.
Reminder to move the garbage can under the desk so as to not accidentally drop my tools, stamps etc.... then having to dig through the garbage for the missing item..... another is not leaving a wet one on my desk and setting down my completed card on it..... only to completely ruin the card I just spent an hour making.
You would think I would remember that if I put something on "crooked" with Scor-Tape I will ruin the card trying to remove it :
I think you could hold a bumper on a car with Scor-Tape !

What a great thread! I've gotten lots of chuckles out of this. It's also been a self-confidence boost, because I thought I was the only one that did all of this stuff!!!!!
Here's one I pulled today....be sure the inside sentiment is stamped on the top of the card, not the bottom where my signature goes! Pulled that one 3 times in 6 cards today. Haste makes waste!
Never expose a self healing cutting mat to any kind of heat. I had mine in a hot car and if it had been laying flat, it probably would have been fine. But it was up on end and warped, forever!
If you send a card and envelope for a customer with the envelope unlicked, place plastic between the envelope and the lick n stick portion. I had a customer complain that the adhesive became stuck due to humidity during mailing.
If you know you are mailing a card, check if you have the right sized envie before making the card an odd size.
I always craft in my jammies so if I get my boob in an ink pad, it doesn't matter! My favourite clothes-saving and comfy tip!

Make that measure three times for me ! Bugga, you are not alone. I have done that so many times!
Y'all crack me up - I'm sooo right there with you!
One I'd like to add: You'd think I'd know by now not to just set stuff down and walk off forgetting where, in my mess, I put it. I'm especially bad at this when I work at my die or trimmer stations then go back to my desk to assemble.
Great thread, I've done all of the above. My only addition would be that you would think by now I'd know not to watch TV while making cards. I recently did the thing mentioned above about trying to cut ribbon while my team made a spectacular touchdown....and yeah, cut right through the skin between my thumb and index finger. My husband attributed my screaming to the touchdown.:(
I have finished a card before and then stamped the stamp on the back on the wrong side (card is vertical and I stamp horizontal or vice versa). Another thing I forget to do is assemble the card and set is aside for at least an hour before glueing it together. Inevitably if I glue it together I'll look at it later and think, Oh this would have looked better, or I should have added that...
Thought this might be fun to start a thread of lessons we should know by now but still manage to forget.
For me:
You think by now I'd know to stamp the inside of the card first. How many times have I worked so hard on the outside, only to screw up the sentiment inside?

Been there done that numerous times. Think I'd learn
I was using the SU Stampin' Spots to ink the edges of calendar pages I was making. Ran into one that was completely dried up and hard as a rock - guess the lid was not on tight. Thought to myself well they are water based inks aren't they? I got out my mini mister with water and proceeded to spray the Spot. NO it did not revive the ink pad and I had spritzes of red ink everywhere! I will never try to revive a dried up ink pad again! Lesson learned.
And...I, too, have done most of the things mentioned in this post - more than once. lol
I don't know how many times I have glitter glued something and thinking it was dry, laid another card on the stack. Quite a few cards have glitter on the back (luckily it doesn't usually ruin the front).
Art is intended to provoke an emotion from a total stranger. If youve succeeded in this, consider yourself an artist. Paper Shanks Blog. Love me or hate me, you are still talking about me
have done almost all of these (except for the boob ones lol, don't EVER have to worry about boobs getting in the way).
that when you buy a new supply you have no room for you put it somewhere you will find it....sigh, just bought white distressing stain, can't find it anywhere, know that when I put it away I told myself that I would find it here).
that cleaning your stamps on a stamp scrubber pad means that there will be splatters.....all over my just finished cards.
that stacking things too high in my stamp area will result in things falling on my head (would rather have raindrops), some of which hurt.
that labeling stamp cases saves hours of work looking for a particular stamp.
that just because it is on sale buying a dozen of something does not mean I will ever use that particular product again.
