I LOVE looking at other people's creative work (especially here at SCS), but the only time I've ever CASEd a card was during Stamp Camp - and even then, I usually do something a little different to put my own "touch" on it. I have a good friend who makes beautiful cards and she does them by "assembly line" - cuts and folds all the cardstock for 10 cards, then cuts out 10 mats; stamps 10 of the same image, etc. etc... Her work is amazing, but just not me. Each and every one of my cards that I make is different - I don't even CASE myself  !!! It's not that I think it's "wrong" or anything negative like that - my brain just doesn't operate that way  ...
I'm absolutely a CASE'r. I'm probably a creator maybe 3% of the time. Right now I just don't have time to create. When I have to create my own I usually take forever and that stresses me. I have tried to do some swaps so that I can force myself to be creative. I have seen these sketch challenges but I have never looked at them. I have no idea what they are. I guess I better check it out.
Anyhow... I rarely tweak. I hope that is ok with the people I CASE. I like the card just as it is. Why change anything. But I've recently decided I really like the inspiration sheets. It opened my eyes to changing the color combos and the sets more than I ever thought.
Here's what I think I need to be a creator. I see in the Stampin Success when they have a template. THere are several times when I've heard someone talking about basic layouts... I don't know what they are. SO when I have time I'm going to have to figure that out.
In the mean time....
a casing I will go.... a casing I will go... hi ho the ? oh... a casing I will go.

Well, you know the answer with me is CREATOR. Or is it Creatress?
I do CASE the occasional card, but for the most part I don't look at card samples in the galleries here. Too many samples and I start to get overloaded. I'm better off coming up with my own stuff. But when I really admire something I'll CASE it. Then that will usually give me ideas to make creations of my own.
I'm a CREATOR - as much stuff I have in my favorites I intend to CASE - I never get around to it because I'm always wanting to create my own! I have cased one or 2 cards before, but just for my personal use in baggy books or cards to family.
Thats me to a T. I always intend to case things, but I want to create stuff on my own. That's why my gallery is full of mediocre cards!
But, if I do see a card that I really like, I semi-case. I'll take a layout I like, change the stampset to what I have, change the colors a bit, use different imbellishments etc.... But to me, this is basically like using a reference book like the "joy of cardmaking" Here's the pattern, now run with it.
That's me. You can hold my card next to someone else's and say that's where I got the idea, but it's my stamp, my colors, my embellishment. Slavish copying is not my thing.
I would say I am mostly a creator but I do get inspired by so many of the cards on this site. What an awesome bunch of stampers. If I do CASE it is a small element of the design. I never copy something exactly.
Hey, I was a C- art student. If I didn't CASE, I'd never make a cute card. Sometimes I think I'm just inspired, but find it was a CASE after all. So thanks to all you creators and all gallery posters for making me look good!
Definitely a caser! I will look on here for hours for a card when it would take me at least half the time to make one up. I think I'm just not confident enough in my own designs. Thankfully, some of you are (and should be!).
I do quite abit caseing as well. I do usually change one or two elements but the resemblence is definately there. I have found that I cannot for all the world case SB pages. I see a layout I love and when I go to case it I can't seem to do it. I think a large part of it is because I hate cropping my photos. I will do it if necessary but usually I take close ups that need little to no alteration.
Creator. Even though it would probably be so much easier for me if I CASE'd more. I just love fiddling around until I get something that feels right, even if it takes me longer.
Both!
I see so many great cards that I'd love to case but usually I end up with something very different. I love & need the INSPIRATION! So while I start out with the intent to case, it almost never happens

I only post on this site the ones I created myself or someone else I know made for me. The ones I case I don't post here since they are already, well, here. Why repeat.
when you think of it though, no one really creates anything (sorry to offend the serious creators) but when it comes down to it we had to have seen something similar in color or style and then from the recesses of our mind we pulled it out in different ways somehow.
My mamma always tells me "God it the only true creator, the rest of us just copy His style in our own way"
I am a "craser". I look at the cards and then I get new ideas to try out with the original card and it never looks anything like what I looked at to begin with.

Depends on my mood. Sometimes I just copy something I really like, but if I'm feeling really creative, I go to town. I usually try to come up with originals for swap cards, but sometimes the ideas here are just too good not to CASE.

My first gut reaction would be "a caser" but as I sat back and thought about it, I realized I've never actually just duplicated a card I liked 100%. There have been a few times where I changed either the stamp set or color scheme but very rarely.
I usually just get an idea in my head of what I need (word-wise, not visual) and then look around me, my stamping room, catalogs, books, etc, etc) until something strikes my fancy. Most of the cards one sees are things that pretty much anybody could put together. Those aren't really the problem.
It's when someone pours their heart and soul into something really different and complicated. Those are the ones I won't case. Not only because I couldn't possibly make it as good by just copying it, but also it's their's, not mine.
So, even though I always say I'm not creative and think "inside" the box, I guess I can say I'm a creator, even if it's inspired by tons of cards and other things at once.
Thanks for this thread. I really needed to sit back and look at how I do things. My confidence has been on the low side lately. I needed that pick-me-up and realization that while not everyone can create absolutely, fantastically incredible cards, most of us can put together something pretty dang awesome, at least once in a while.
Creator. I save in my computer other cards that I really like but I never actually used them yet. Hubby suffers the creative process with me, with the "what do you think?" and "how about this?" question. He is very patient, thank godness :0) My kids are my own fanclub they like to watch mommy make cards and then they run a contest which one they like best ;0)
Before SCS I never created my own card. I cased every thing almost to a t. But this site has so inspired me to step out of my box and now I'm a creator. I cant remember the last time I cased. Although I have alot saved in my favorites I intend to case someday, When my creative well has run dry.

I'm definitely a caser!!!!! I'm amazed at some of the beautiful creations I see!! My brain is just not wired to come up with the designs!!! But I love to copy them!!! Thanks to all you creative minds out there!!
I have always been a creator, not so much of caser though. The only time I see myself as a caser is when I see a card I like, I will draw from that idea and do something similar or completely different.
The gallery really has so many great cards and projects in there.

Would anyone mind just letting me know what CASE stands for?! I'm a new-ish hobby SU demo and am so embarrassed I don't know what this means. I gather the jist of the "word" but am dying to decode the anacronym! Thanks!
I'm a big time caser! I can't create for the life of me, so thank you to the wonderful creators on this site. I will tweak it a little myself but for the most part, I case! I have started trying to do the weekly challenge and just did a swap using one of the examples! It was fun having the layout, but coming up with the actual things to stamp was all mine!
