I see that the list is getting longer but if it wouldn't be too much trouble to add me to the email list, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
if anyone could email me the instructions too that would be awesome!
Being clearly on a budget and a single mom...going to convention, unfortunately isn't an option for me ..even if I could go..unless they have kids booths! So if anyone is willing to share please include me! [email protected]
SU Demo/Supervisor
This is SO cute -- I hadn't seen it before! I'm sure we can figure out the dimensions for making the box if we know what size the *cards* are. Are they the size that fits in the Large Open-End envelopes, or the Small Open-End envelopes? I'm guessing the Smalls, since the kewl box would have to be made out of a 12x12" piece of stock. I could be wrong, though -- does anyone know for sure?
I had a chance to play with this over the weekend, and figured out how to make the box. Disclaimer: This may not be exactly how SU did it, but it's close enough for me and my purposes! This makes an open box that is approx. 7" long, 3" high and 3" deep -- to hold 3x6" cards and their envelopes.
1) Slice 3" off a 12x12" sheet of stock, leaving a 9x12" sheet.
2) With the sheet in landscape orientation on your desk, score in 2.5" from each side -- leaving sections that are 2.5", 7" and 2.5" wide x 9" long.
3) Rotate the sheet 90 degrees (to portrait orientation) and score in 3" from each side -- leaving 3 sections that are 3" wide x 12" long.
4) Fold and crease along all score lines, then open flat again. You will have 4 corner areas that are 2.5 x 3" -- score them diagonally, from inner point to outer point, and carefully pre-crease.
5) Fold up the ends of the box (9" sides), fold and overlap the diagonals as though you are wrapping a package. Staple the points, as shown in the thumbnails posted above. Repeat on the other side -- et VOILA! A spiffy box to decorate as you see fit and fill with nifty dividers and fabulous cards. You might want to do some of the decoration after scoring and before folding, of course -- depending on how you plan to decorate it.
I recommend playing around with a sheet of standard text-weight paper first, so you see how this works before slicing up your cardstock. Have fun!
Thanks to missyintx for contacting me and helping me to see that I made a crucial omission in my instructions above. That is -- if you follow those, you will have to do some cutting on the end triangles to get them to fold and overlap properly so you can staple them.
I don't remember now why I was so insistent that the sides of the box be 3" when I was making it -- I'll just chalk that up to: hormones, the heat, or faulty wiring in my brain, which is as old as the rest of me! ;) In any case, I *sincerely* apologize to Missy and anyone else who attempted the box based on my instructions and had trouble. My face is very red!
To get a box that is easy to assemble and will hold 3x6" cards in SU's 6.75" long envelopes, change your score lines on the two long sides to 2.5" instead of 3". Your corner squares will be 2.5" and true squares. Fold and crease as instructed above, and the finished box will measure approx. 7" long x 4" deep x 2.5" high. You may also want to use little glue dots to hold the inside flaps on the ends of the box and keep them from poking into the box area. Hope that makes sense....
Thanks again to Missy for being so nice about the trouble she was having -- and my apologies to all!
Has anyone seen the instructions for the cards yet?

Thanks Sue for the dimensions on the box! I made a few modifications to your box dimensions so I can use only half a sheet of textured cardstock and it worked great. I only wanted to use half the textured cardstock from the SSK on the project, so I made 12 cards instead of the 14 they showed at convention (2 real red, 2 pretty in pink, 4 wild wasabi, 4 bashful blue). That way I could use the left over textured cardstock to make the dividers and box. This was a super easy project. I'm going to try to offer this as a stamp camp later this month/early November.
