I don't think I have ever seen a poll about which way you prefer to mount your stamps. I know there are LOTS of us who are changing to acrylic blocks with our rubber stamps. You could also add in a reply the reason you made the switch, or the reason you prefer not to make the change. It may help others to understand the pros and cons, and to see which way the trend is running......hmmm.......
I know I have seen at least one poll on this subject. But it is always interesting.
I prefer wood mounted, hands-down, no two ways about it. I've tried unmounted and I hate them (plus the images don't compare to SU artwork by a long shot). Nothing squelches my creativity faster. I'm SO thankful that SU has pledged never to quit offering wood mounted!
I know several people who went all gung-ho on the unmounted and now sorely regret it. They hate the bother of having to mount and clean and unmount each and every time they want to stamp a single thing.

I am a very messy stamper - 3-4 sets out at one time - ink pads everywhere - I love the grab and stamp convience of my wood mounts...
I have some UM rubber stamps that I use from time to time - but they don't get used as often as my WM ones...
I only have one acrylic set - which I will probably get rid of - I just don't like it - maybe it is the particular brand - but I stamp it and it sticks to my paper - so I end up having to peel the paper from the stamps...plus the fact i can't use my beloved Stazon with acrylic
so in my world I love rubber...preferably WM but for the right set I'll let it go naked...

Although I do like that you can see where to stamp with the acrylic, that's not such an issue now that I have mastered my stamp-a-magig!! I also like the ease of picking up a stamp and stamping, not having to wait to mount, then have to clean it and put it away before using the block again....
I'm wood mounted all the way! I like to stamp and go. And like Jenmouer, I usually use more than one set at a time also, so it's just more convenient to have wood mounted stamps.
You need a third option! I have and love both! I really don't know if I'll ever UM my SU stamps, but I really do like space saving of the UM. I store my UM images on plastic binder sheets, so I can always see what I have. I have my Alphabets in CD cases.
I guess I don't understand the problem with having to clean your stamps before you put them away? I do that with ALL my stamps, UM or wood mounted. It take no more time for UM vs. WM
While I don't unmount a stamp that I've purchased wood-mounted, I no longer wood mount any stamps myself. If I've got to cut and mount 'em, who needs the wood?!
I love the space-saving, the money saving, and being able to see where the edges of my stamp are. It's a great trade-off!

I don't think I understand this comment. I use most of my SU stamps unmounted.
I love UM, and because right now my available crafting space is so tiny, having a few clamshell cases out and a bunch of wood-mounted stamps littered on my work space is pretty inconvenient. For me it is no problem to use the UM stamp, give it a quick clean, and place it back in its CD case as I move on to the next image.
When my stamping space is larger than a 15" diameter circle, I use WM and UM with equal enjoyment. One method isn't inherently better than another, it is just what works for each individual stamper. A lot of the things that folks who hate UM specify about what makes it so awful for them, I've never had a problem with.

Me either, I am wondering what unmounted has to do with images. There are some absolutely beautiful unmounted stamps out there, has nothing to do with whether they are mounted or not. Yes I do love SU images, always have but the angel christmas card in the gallery is beautiful and it is an unmounted TAC image.
I use unmounted and have unmounted my SU stamps. I like it for the saved storage space and it doesn't bother me in the least to have to stick a rubber image to an acrylic block and then take it off afterwards and I would much rather have my stamps in cd cases stored neatly in a cd rack rather than a bunch of Iris carts lining the walls, which is what I had before. As far as the stamping I like being able to see where I am stamping and to me using a stamp positioner is much more of a hassle than sticking a rubber image on an acrylic block. I will say that if I didn't have acrylic blocks that are shaped just like wood blocks (CTMH) then I might prefer wood, but the acrylic blocks I have are extremely comforatble to use. I think those totally squared off ones with sharp edges would hurt after stamping for a while. Also you can stick small images or sayings on the ends of the blocks if you have blocks that has a straight edge so that you don't need as many blocks. And the benefits of stamping with letters is fabulous. You can line up the letters or if you wanted them in a curve you could do that too and then you can stamp the whole word or phrase at one time. Great for stamping multiple projects.
UM! Ease, storage, 95% of my SU are un-mounted and of course, all my TAC and every other brand I own! About 130 SU sets so far and I'm not stopping until they are all done!
This allows me to have 4 times the amount of stamps in the space I have! So easy to use, clean up is quick, no staining on the WM and light to use!

I recently bought some unmounted from TAC, and, though I like the images on the sets I bought, I still prefer wood mounted for ease of use.
I wasn't told until after I'd cut out my TAC stamps that I should have stamped the images in Stazon on the cling side of the mounting foam, so the stamps have no reference image on them. I find that a problem. If I don't see the image I'm not inspired to use them as much.

Thanks to reading this board, I unmounted all my stamps including my SU. I love this so much that I cannot imagine why I held out so many years. I love the space, the ease of using them, the greatly increased ease of cleaning without worrying about the wood, the greatly increased space on my table. I was using 10 sets all at once this morning and still had room to spare! I love the lightness and the ease of travel with them. I love everything about it. Will never use wood again. I buy wood mounted sometimes, but immediately unmount them as soon as I get them home. I cannot tell you how much money I have saved going UM since UM's are much, much cheaper. Well----not really saving, just buying more stamp stuff instead LOL! People are doing this all over the place. I travelled 500 miles and stopped at a stamp store where they were demoing how to UM and they said most of their local customers are going UM.
Although I don't necessarily like how much space the wood mounts take up, I do like the fact that I can grab any stamp and it's ready to go. I also like the sturdiness of the wood mounts--it just feels more 'substantial' to me!
I have and use both, but I use my woodmounted far more often. Right now I have enough space for my 100+ sets, but if that becomes an issue in the future, I could see myself unmounting those sets I use rarely but still love.
I am not philosophically opposed to unmounted stamps--either clear or rubber. I am more interested in the particular stamp than how it is made/mounted.
At first I loved the idea of unmounted so I unmounted almost all of my stamps. After a couple months, I hated it - seemed like more work and took longer. Luckily I kept all my wood blocks with the stickers on them, so I remounted my stamps on wood. I like it so much better!

I didn't vote because I use a mix of the both. I am currently unmounting some of my lesser used SU stamps, but leaving some still wood mounted. I love my TAC unmounted stamps too.
If I had to mount my stamps everytime I wanted to use them, it would never happen. I think it's funny that people complain about having to mount their SU stamps ONCE... and now the supposed trend is to have to mount them each time you use them. Ain't never gonna happen here!
Wood mounts only for me.
Terry
I will never unmount my SU, and I really hope SU never goes to acrylic. I have many, many acrylic stamps but I LOVE wood mounted. I love picking up a stamp and using it, and I hate having to size the image. I'm sure I'll continue to buy TAC, CTMH, Darcie's and all the neat stuff that I love at the stamp shows, but wood mounted is my very fave! - Gay Howe
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the space savings of unmounted! I have a couple acrylic blocks enabling me to have a few things going at a time or, I stick the UM to an acyrlic frame, or Cd case while waiting for block space to be available.
With all the posts on here recently regarding unmounting, I am actually surprised that there are more still liking (or at least voting for) wood mounted. I was beginning to think I was waaaay in the minority staying with my wood, guess not! Hmmmm
I've unmounted all of my SU and CTMH wood mounted stamps and remounted them with the EZ Mount vinyl cling. I LOVE it! I still have some of my single wood mounted stamps from other companies to unmount. This takes up way less room. Personally, I don't find it any more time consuming than using wood mounted stamps.
I do have to say that I'm not a total fan of the clear stamps yet. For ME, they don't seem quite as crisp as a rubber stamp. Although I suppose if I practiced more with the clear stamps I could figure out how to get a good image. ;) (Like maybe I'm stamping too hard?)

I have all my SU! WM stamps, some CTMH Acrylix stamps, other companies of WM stamps, and then my TAC unmounted rubber.
I like WM stamps, never had a problem with placement, etc. I just don't like that they take up SOOOO much room! I'm going to unmount a few of my often used SU! sets and all the other WM stamps that I have from other companies and put them on Creative Cling.
I do NOT like/hardly EVER use the CTMH Acrylix stamps as I don't care for the impression that I get with them. I like the idea of being able to see through them and see exactly where I'm stamping an image, etc....but the poor impression quality isn't worth it for me.
Just started buying TAC (Thanks Jovi!) stamps and LOVE the impression quality and the SUPER storage space! I like Creative Cling as it sticks to the block well, and even stays on when I scrub it clean on the Stampin' Scrub. (My CTMH Acrylix stamps just peel right off when I'm trying to clean them and it annoys me!)
I really like all versions of rubber stamps, and do not care for clear/acrylic stamps at all. So whether my rubba is WM or UM.....I'm a happy camper!
I LOVE and ONLY use unmounted and almost exclusively rubber. I did give in to a few Heidi Swapp acrylic stamps. They were too awesome to pass up. But I can tell a big difference between my rubber and acrylic. Too bad rubber can't be clear. LOL!
If you would have done this poll 1 month ago I would have said wood all the way! I have been a very loyal wood mount girl PERIOD! I have since unmounted most of my SU sets and I absolutely LOVE it!! I was the person who used to say "why would I mount and unmount every time" but now I find that it does not take ANY extra time. For me it was just plain ignorance, I had never tried it but I was so ready to give my opinion. Now that I have tried it I have to say that it is sooo orderly for me and FUN. I am using so many of my 300+ SU stamp sets than ever before. I feel so much more creative and I just love looking through the acrylic block and lining up my image perfect every time. No more flipping my little piece of cardstock to try again.
Anyway, those are my thoughts. I have nothing against woodmounted as I have been promoting them for 6 years now but now I see that there are other ways of doing things that are equally rewarding and inspiring.
I like both. But since I am limited to my space Anything that I buy from now on from SU,CTMH,OR TAC,will be unmounted and storedin cd's now.Since I can store these much easier and they take up less space.and I can buy more this way,and there so much easier to hide if you have a hb like mine.Who says I have too many now.So this is my option from now on.you still get the same image wether it's wood or acrylic block mounted.

If it is just a question of mounting (either removable on acrylic blocks or stuck on the wood) I would definitely go with the acrylic blocks. If it is a question of rubber vs. acrylic STAMPS, then I vote rubber all the way. I don't like the way the image comes out with the clear ones. Unmounted take so much less space and no more time to use. It is so easy to slap one on, stamp, clean, peel off and put back in the box. You have to take the wood mounted ones in and out and clean them just as you would the unmounted.
