Default Who thinks AYC is retiring?

I think it is time for all 3 AYC's to retire. Anyone else? I do like them, but the styles are starting to look, well, dated, for lack of better words.

Am I alone here??

Just as long as I'm able to order them for myself first! I just got AYC I in my SAB order and I still want the others!

I, for one, don't want them to retire. While many of you find certain things "old", it only 3 yo at the most to us in Canada.

I have all 3 sets and I was ***SURE*** it would retire last year and I'd have to fund a bunch of new word sets! SO - what is my point? That I have NO IDEA!

It's been around for awhile, but sooner or later, it has to move on to make way for newer word sets. I thought to myself Hmmmmm....when we got Sincere Salutations. So there have been some new word sets coming out in mini cattys too. Curvy Verses, WWII, I'm taking it as a sign of the times and am preparing for the worst!

JMO - be ready just in case!

Doubt it since it is part of the kit still. I would think it would be around. At the price to replace all three sets, WOW! I would be a little more than miffed.

Oh I hope not!!! I love all the new stamp greetings (I'm getting ww and curvy verses this weekend and I'll definately be ordering ww2 this spring) but what I LOVE about ayc sets is that they are different fonts. I love my ayc and will be sad to see it go (if it does!)

I just became a demo and I would think that Stampin up would not do this to new demo's as its part of our kit. Nopw that would give a bad taste in my mouth if "THEY" suggested something then retired it. Just my thoughts.

IMO some sets just need to be staples of the catalog and never retire. The AYC sets being some of them. There are always going to be new stampers, so there will always be need for greetings sets. All the other verses and words can be interchanged, but there should always be a small staple. That being said, I only have AYC3 and want the others but I will wait until the new catty to make sure they don't retire.

I would say an almost 100% no to them retiring, for this very reason. Now, when SU changes up the starter kit and takes it out, watch for it to retire the following year.

AYC is only a couple of years old, after all!

Do any of you remember the sets that were in place before AYC? I was new to SU! at the time, so didn't get them, but I remember there were a couple sets in a series...I think they were Great Greatings and More Great Greetings, or something like that. I remember being SO BUMMED when they retired, as I liked them better than AYC at the time. Although AYC has really grown on me and is a staple for workshops. I think the fact that it is part of the kit is an excellent indicator! I haven't kept track of what is in the kit anymore, so am glad to hear that AYC still is, as that sort of ensures it won't be going anytime soon! (We hope!)

LOL - I have been thinking the same thing about Nice and Easy Notes. I like it, but it's been around FOREVER, so I haven't wanted to invest in it since I'm so SURE it will retire! So again, I maintain that I haven't a CLUE!

Well, this is a warning to all you ladies thinking about being a demo, and thinking about switching from the kit stamps to other stamps. My friend/neighbor/coworker signed up together last May, and I figured since she was ordering the AYC in her kit, I'd sub with something else. I ended up subbing with a couple of sets that then retired in July. So...keep to the basics on the kit list - at least you can be pretty sure that they won't pull them on you a month after you sign up (at least, I think so...)

I love my AYC sets.....they're staples. (Not as big on AYC III admittedly)
Use them all the time, and have sold at least AYC I to everyone I have on my client list!!

There are much uglier sets that could go first, IMHO! LOL!!

I think we should be safe as long as they are offered in the kit... now if they are not offered in the kit when the new catty comes out we will know they are going.

Default retiring

I know demo's don't want it to retire, but since I have them all, I would like them to come up with the new sayings for it. The more stamps, the better!

Those sets really had been around forever. Since before SU! went exclusive. I know they were in the 96-97 catalog. But I don't know when they came out. They retired them all in 2002 and replaced them with the AYC sets.

So, the AYC sets really haven't been around that long and I would be REALLY surprised if they retired this year. I think they have a couple more years at least. But I could be wrong.

I think you have more hope for Nice N' Easy notes to go. It was a hostess set in 96-97 and is one of the oldest stamp sets in our catalog.

Just my 2 cents.

I know I'm in the minority when I say that I really don't care for AYC, I got it in my starter kit over a year ago and have used it maybe once. I'm hoping they retire it (and the other 2)
Now before all the demos jump me mad cause they just got it, don't forget sincere salutations that all demos got for free! You do still have something to demo at least!
I don't know if they will or won't retire it, but I'd watch the march promo and if it ends up on that list of 50% I'd start buying new word sets.

I hope they don't retire the AYC series. I don't use AYC II as much , but I really depend on AYC I and AYC III. But, could I be tempted by something new? Probably!

I hope they don't retire this year! I just got AYC II, now I only need AYC I.

It'll probably retire right after I get AYC I.

I've only been a demo for 2-and-a-half years, and right after I started they changed the whole kit! I was pretty miffed about that, since I got a bunch of lame sets compared to what is now the current kit (can you say "Wreath of Roses"?)

I had Great Greetings and More Great Greetings, I just got rid of them actually last year. I have AYC I and II so hoping they don't retire them. I think they would be around for at least another catty seeing as though we are all getting one in our Starter Kits!!

GASP!
Emily - you bought them OUT OF ORDER???
I am WAY too OCD to do something like that!

I'm crossin' my fingers they will be around for a few more years, and all these new word sets are just to add in, as lately I seem to crave lots of different word sets to use...YKWIM?

I sure hope they stick around for a while longer. I have I, just ordered II and want a handle of the stamps from III so that means I'll be ordering it in the future. But, Sincere Salutations has some really nice looking greetings Just my .02.

As far as Nice and Easy Notes - I think I read somewhere where that one has been the number one seller. That's why it keeps staying around.

I'm all for new sets, which provide new, fresh ideas, but I am very attached to AYC I and would definately miss it. I do like Sincere Salutations, but it's not a replacement for AYCI (in my book)

They haven't been in the catty very long, so I doubt they'll go. However, I can't wait to see Nice and Easy Notes go. I waited three years for Bear Hugs to go and it finally did. That one just did not look like quality.

I don't think they will retire yet because they are a suggested item in the starter kit. I think they wouldn't be suggested if they were going to retire in 6 months. SU seems to know what is going in the new catty way before that.

AYC 1-3 are nice, as they cover the gamut of holidays. I would be surprised if they retired them. I myself was disappointed when they retired Favorite Greetings. I loved the look.

This is an interesting question. Makes me wonder why all new demos that sign up are getting Sincere Salutations also in their kit. Could be that's a hint, huh? I hope not, I use mine ALL the time.

Nice & Easy Notes might be a top seller, but is it one people use a lot? I bought Nice & Easy Notes before I was a demo, when I was getting into stamping, because it covered everything & had words & pictures. But, I have barely used it. I think that might be the case with LOTS of people. They're just dipping their toes in the ink and want something to try out. If they really get into stamping, they'll buy word sets & picture sets separately. I can't wait for it to retire. Button Bear was a top seller too, but I was so glad to see it go.

I think that AYC 1-3 will stay (they were only introduced 1 1/2 years ago) and Sincere Salutations will replace Bold & Basic Greetings.

Just because the AYC is in the kit, means nothing. I have a demo friend who signed up last April with the stampin' memories kit. the album that was in the kit retired in July.

btw~i hope ayc stays, because i love 1 & 3

I would be really p*ssed off as a demo if I had to replace all 3 sets... that's a big investment!!!

Well, they might not retire AYC I since it's in the Starter kit (that would probably make a few people mad..), but if AYC 2+3 are not very big sellers, then nothing would really keep 'em from retiring..right? *RUMORS*...wua-huaaaa...
