You look WAY too young to have a son who is married!
Oh, my...you have made my day. THANKS for that comment. I have two sons and they both married 2 years ago.

I had my kids as my avatar forever. One day waiting with my son at the freezing cold bus stop, the mountains looked so beautiful, so I snapped a picture, and that's what you see. And my location "Beneath These Western Skies" is from one of my favorite Chris LeDoux songs.
My avatar is our fabulous cat, Mr. Charlie, who likes to watch me stamp.
It's the only pic I've ever used on here, 'cause Mr. Charlie is waaaay cuter than me! ;)
Plus this is making me actually look at people's avatars rather than just skim over them.
Linda, you and your family will be in my thoughts. It's wonderful that you are keeping such a positive attitude.
Annburke and Rebecca, I think you should be framing those avatar pics! Beautiful! Heather P, your daughter is a-dor-able!
Minders, too funny about your BF getting way too into the 80s party! Kristi, will you make me a South Park cake?!? And biblesistersmom, glad to hear that the moose was just a visitor, not a pet! Hope you are surviving the flooding ok.
Charlalei, my "seductive" look always reads more "constipated" so I feel your pain.
Susan, your avatar always reminds me of a coffee commercial (in a good, "this coffee will make you instant friends with anyone" way), but at least your story makes me feel like I wasn't too off the mark.
And of course, keep those kitties & puppies coming! Especially the lazy ones in lawn chairs...
Mine is my corgi, Addison, and yes, it is a real picture. She is looking up at DH, waiting for him to throw the frisbee disc. But when I use it as my avatar, it looks like she is extremely interested in reading what I have to say.
She does look like she is paying attention to you every word.
Mine is Wit'l. We adopted her when she was six months old. The Humane Society had rescued her and brought her to the emergency/speciality vet hospital I work for. She had been hit by a car and had to have a leg removed. The first day I had her at home, when DH came in he said hello to our other dog, a rottie, named Nala which he called little dog. So he said hello little dog and then he said hello little dog with three legs - Wit'l - she now had a name. Nala has since moved on to doggie heaven. We all miss her very much. Every so often I update the picture, but Wit'l is my avatar. She lets me stamp in her chew toy room.

Well, the story with mine is I hate most if not all pictures of me. Someone awhile back (probably been years now) had the link for how to make these cute little avatars. I made one and have never changed it. Maybe someday someone in the family will take a picture of me and I can upload it. But right now pictures of me are so scarce you would think I was in witness protection.

What a fun thread, it is nice to read the meaning behind everyone's avatar.. Mine is a breast cancer image I got off somewhere online, I added 5 I think words around the ribbon if i remember correctly they are love, faith, hope, strength, and courage. Then on the ribbon I wrote my Gma's name, I just recently lost my gma after a long and valiant fight with breast cancer. I use to have a picture of my dog, maybe someday I will change it back... I just love seeing all the wonderful avatars of everyone's furry babies!
My Avatar is a Zarkie lady dancin' with her fancy boots on! This is my mom's art.
My mother is a very talented artist! She paints in oil, watercolor, she sketches in charcoal and different inks and pastels. She has made watercolor cards in the past but it took too much time-so she says. I have all her watercolor cards framed, they are so pretty! She is NOT a scrapbooker or a card maker today, she is an artist! She doesn't make cards like she used to, she just tries to paint mostly for herself and her children and grandchildren.
She is also a talented writer and has only a few short stories published. Anyway her Zarkies are cute, they depict country folks from the Ozarks where I spent of few years of my childhood growing up. She prefers to make her Zarkies without faces, so we see a lot of bonnets on the ladies and straw hats on the men and children. She made this one for my birthday one year, and I have saved and treasured it! She also makes sewn bonnets just like the ones in the avatar! I have one too I wear for colonial days or dress up days. My mom's talent is amazing. I just wish I had a pinch of that talent! Two of my brothers do, but not me or my sister, or my other two brothers. Some of the grand kids have talent, my youngest son draws very well too! I like this as my Avatar today!
Interesting thread...mine is me and my husband at the Marine Corp ball. One of many photos. I like this one the best. I've been to 12 of them already and looking forward to the next 3. Then he'll retire for 30 years.

My avatar is my sweet Jackson. I just don't have any pictures of me, at least recent ones and I feel weird using ones of me from three or four years ago. Plus Jackson is way cutier.
taken a couple years ago when we went to get pumpkins.
i really should update it but since i went back to my real hair color and did away with the hi-lites... no one would prolly know it was me! HA!
I have always liked this picture of you. You look happy and like you would be a fun person to know. I have never seen you post anything but nice, and I like that in a person!

I posted this picture of Toby shortly after he adopted me; he'll be a year old in a couple of weeks, and I'm STILL in Maltepoo heaven! My grandkids live too far away for me to spoil, so you can imagine how rotten Toby is. But so sweet and loving. If only I could remember not to leave my shoes lying where I take them off! 2 pairs of Teva sandals, one pair of New Balance tennis shoes and 2 pairs of Merrills. But what a small price to pay for the unconditional love I get from him. And much cheaper than a therapist!

My avatar is my baby Molly when she was about 9 weeks old. My niece took this picture while walking her one day. She is a beagle. (she will be 10 months old, this month)
Mine is a deep sea fish that my DD drew for me. I studied Marine Biology in College and I liked this picture alot. I still want to change it. I would like her to do a portrait of me and use that, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. I'm also afraid people wouldn't recognize me then.
Mine is just the pic of the cullens! GAWD they are so hot! Too embarrassed to put up a picture of myself though. Thinking about changing my avatar now that I have read the book and seen the movie.
Location: In my sewing/craft room most of the time.

Jackson the "nest puppy." Even though we told him over and over again that Golden Retrievers are supposed to like water, he was scared of his wading pool. However, he liked to curl up in the piles of leaves that accumulate against the fence. So, I dumped out the water and filled his wading pool with leaves. Within minutes he climbed into his "nest." We now have the wading pool (minus the leaves) in the house filled with a custom made bed and a couple of blankets. It is his favorite place to sleep!
I have a son with Aspergers, a type of high functioning autism. He's been obsessed with the Japanese language and took it for 3 years in high school but couldn't go on the school's trip to Japan because he wouldn't have been able to handle it. So I told him when he got out of high school I'd find a way to take him. My Dad in the meantime surprised me with a birthday gift of $5,000 for the trip. So when my son was 19, he and I went to Japan and my son was in his glory. We had such a great time! In a restuarant booth in Tokyo he took my picture and that's my avatar. It always reminds me of dreams coming true and my awesome son who is now 22.

There's a point in every winter that I actually am excited to see the snow. So I took this picture by the river of my husband and dog. It was a "happy place" kind of photo!
Guess what I really collected when I was a kid. Have a ton of comic books, belonged to the fan club and does anyone remember when they put records on the back of cereal boxes. I have "Sugar, Sugar" from the back of the Sugar Bears cereal box. Had to beg for that box of cereal as we usually only had Wheaties and Cheerios.

Although it's not a photo of me, my eyes are exactly that color and I dearly love glitter and sparkle! If I ever change it, I'll use a photo of Gigi, my beloved toy fox terrier.
Mine is one of the adorable chipmunks that hang out in our yard. Between the squirrels and the chipmunks, there is always some fun going on in our yard. I believe that DH took this photo.

This is very touching. Thank you for sharing it with us. Your son is fortunate to have such a loving and generous family.
Early in our relationship my DH and I went on a weekend trip to Asheville, NC to see the Biltmore estate. I took this picture of an orchid, one of my favorite flowers, in the greenhouse there.
I love all of these stories.. thanks for starting this thread!

My avatar is a picture of my black lab mix, Heather. She was pulled from the local shelter on the day that she was to be euthanized. We are so lucky to have her. She is such a sweet, laid back dog; I can't imagine her not being here.

I decided that I wanted to update my avatar quite awhile back and I came across this crazy picture DH must have taken of me (is it sad to say that I have a few crazy pics of myself to choose from? lol!). I remember the little "photo shoot" when we were playing around with the camera that day but I have no idea what this particular picture was about. I would love to say that it was taken when my DH surprised me with diamonds, but sigh, that's not the case :p. My intention was to only leave it up for a week or so but I got so many PM's from people saying that it made them giggle, so I left it up. Who am I to deny joy in peoples lives? ;)
I think that it may finally be time to put up a new picture though...
This avatar has a huge impact when you are leaving a comment in the gallery LOL!!
<----- Mine is from my wedding day last October. I giggle because I get so many compliments on this picture. You can't tell in the small version, but you can see the engagement ring, my hair, my nails, and the bouquet perfectly; you just can't see hubby's face!!! (he's absolutely adorable by the way.)
I love this thread. It's makes me feel like I know everyone just a little bit better.
Thanks for sharing everyone!
-Carrie
p.s. - I too have a pet. A beautiful beige cat named Bijon, she however does not think hubby is adorable!
What a great thread, funny how much you can learn from someone by just a tiny picture.
I have used various pictures of my journey through breast cancer, but my current pic is of me and three ladies that I met recently at a breast cancer conference for women under 40. Even though we had never met in person, Nicole, Bethany and Christi are now very close and dear friends!!!
I also have several pets, a goofy bassett hound and two very large cats, they just have not made their apperance yet.
For the first several years on scs I had the MS ribbon on my avitar but now I change my avitar constantly. Currently it is a character from one of my dd's animes. We are attending a convention this weekend and this is who I am cosplaying as. When it is close to a holiday I try to use a holiday themed hello kitty. If there are no holidays on the horizon I just mix it up. I have my own pic in my profile.
