I used to do Tim Holtz like style (not sure what you would call it). Then I started using copics & they just didn't work with it, so I got some Pure Innocents ( because I liked them) and now I love that style! Still love TH & can't wait for 12 tags of Christmas, & am doing 2 Halloween cards one of each style (I only make a few so it's not a big deal). But it just shows how your tastes change & I never get rid of stamps or anything-you never know!

Question Style

This is really a great question:confused: In fact it is one I have asked MYSELF recently because I can not figure out what my style is.
I think my cards are all over the place a little of this and that.
So I would love to hear what you gals think my style is?

I am eclectic in my music and reading so I guess it would stand to reason my card making is all over the place. I tend to LOVE monocramatic, Black and white (with any color as addition or just alone) and anything pink and green, oh and anything with a butterfly but if you look at my gallery you would see some of a lot of different styles EXCEPT cutsey. I like elegant and clean lines so Classic...I guess????

Someone ask me what my style was a few weeks ago and I had to think about it. I think I'm artsy eclectic! I love Tim Holtz, crafters workshop templates, paint, distress inks, spray inks. Anything that gets my hands dirty. I pretty much use lots of mediums as I love mixed media very much so I tend to use it on my cards and other projects. You would have to look at my gallery to see what I mean. I'm definately not cutsey, clean lines or classic! I don't think they have a name for me yet! LOL

I must have a style as my stamping friends always know when a card is mine, but I don't know what it is. I like to try all sorts or things---love learning new techniques---and like many styles of stamps. Can definitely tell you I don't like steampunk (although I like clocks), don't like cute, cutsie, whimsical, goth, artsie, or most collages. i can do clean and simple sometimes, but love it when others do it. Don't like lots of patterned paper (one background layer or two if they are closely related in theme and color) and don't do punches, cricut, or lots of dies. I like embellishments like brads, buttons, ribbons, but not overly done. Wish I knew what all this meant and how to classify it.

Thumbs up

I love clean artsy cards, cards with a little laugh and shabby chic -sorta Victorian cards too.. as long as they are simple... so what the heck style is that??
I do know I don't like all those stamps with big headed kids and cards that are so thick with embellishments that they will not fit in any envelope..
By the way... good subject!

Well, I guess I should put my hand up and say "collector". I'm playing with One Sheet Wonders right now and I love to put stickers on them. I like the generic brand ones that are puffy, 3-D, pop-up relief. I've bought tons of these from the kids section lately; I think I spent about $150, maybe more, on them in the last month. I plan on selling cards made with them at a local craft sale.
I make some CAS cards, I usually mat my layers, one patterned paper and the rest cardstock, usually sponge all edges, frequently cased... I can't get enough of flower stamps, love animals, don't like people stamps... I don't know what that makes me either.

Whimsical and cute is fine although I don't have many stamps that would fall in to that category.

I guess I tend to be a "stampy stamper" - I very rarely use patterned paper and my embellishments if I'm doing a more embellished style project tend to be in the buttons/brads/ribbon categories rather than the really fancy stuff. I like to use vintage or repurposed items for embellishments rather than buying in to the latest manufacturer trend if I can.

I'm drawn to earthy colours with a particular thing for greens and blues but looking at my rack of inkpads tells me that I just like using colours!

My stamp collection is heavy on CHF (which is an eclectic range in itself!) and Crafty Secrets with a sprinkling of all sorts of others - Technique Tuesday, IndigoBlu, Chocolate Baroque, Tanda, Inkadinkado etc etc. I go through phases of using different parts of my collection.
I totally agree with you. It depends on my mood, I'll try anything, sometimes cute but NEVER EVER the big head kids with no mouths or noses. I hate those so much. I think my biggest pet peeve is images that aren't in proportion. Especially animals.
I force myself to use some patterned paper but it's not natural. I quite buying any unless I have a special project in mind. Green and earth tones are what I'm using most but in the spring and summer will use some brighter/pastels. It all depends on the mood.

I never know how to answer this question. My style changes all the time. When it comes to cards, it really depends on who i'm making the card for. If i'm making a card for a kid, then i'm going to go with "cute", because that is what they usually like. If it's for my Grandmother, it might be more "elegant".

I don't know that I have a style because I like varied styles of stamps. I love paint, ink and coloring. It depends on how much time I have...I love to use paint, but it takes more time than I have lately.

I think I am more Shabby Chic, Tim Holtz, Victorian than anything else. However I like bright primary colors too. Pastels are nice every now and then. I too have a well mixed eclectic collection of styles. Techniques will draw me in first. I love altered art, and mixed media items. Victorian pretty, elegant, styles draw me in quickly. I really like masculine victorian age things. I have always liked it even as a kid! Mostly I think I have a fun style, because if it's fun, I am already there!

Shabby chic or vintage, mostly. Generally quite overloaded and more is more. However, since I've been an A Muse Studio consultant, I'm starting to make lighter, simpler cards.

My style is heavy on stamps and coloring in with colored pencils and light on everything else! When I started out, nobody was doing scrapbooking or cardmaking, I just had some stamps, ink and embossing powder.

I like realism and detail in the images, and especially animals and scenic. Some of my favorite cards are scenes. Unfortunately I don't really have any of those in my gallery. I also like humor and puns. Someone really needs to make some tiny mouth stamps to cure the psychic vampire anime kids!

I can tell you that I'm not a vintage, shabby chic, type of person. I lean more towards the CAS spectrum but am not always CAS since I do like some layers and embellishments.

That said, I {heart} Tim Holtz and all things Distress. I like to play and get my hands dirty but don't always use it in my own personal card making.

My sister says my style is "pretty". I don't usually do cutesy. I love layers but once in awhile a CAS will slip in.
