Wow! This takes me back! I got 2. Home Tweet Home which was one larger stamp of a row of assorted bird houses and Marvelous Morning Glory, which was a 2-step set that I couldn't get layered right to save my life!! I sold them within a few months on ebay and I think one of the next ones I got from SU was Bear Necessities.
I don't remember the name of the set, it would have been over 5 years old, a baby set with handprints and footprints, a crayon, rubber duckie. It was a gift from my SIL after she found I was pregnant. Funny because that gift is what got me into stamping and scrapbooking and she never got into it.
My first set was Button Bear and I haven't bought a card since then. I just went to the party because a friend was hosting...I think it was about 10 yrs ago.
My first was Holiday Wishes. My daughter, who had been stamping for several years, talked me into making Christmas cards several years ago, and my budget has been shot ever since......sigh.
My friend brought the SU catalog to a college class we shared and asked me if I wanted to join her club! One look at that catalog and I could tell that my DHs wallet was going to take a serious blow!! My first set was heartfelt thanks and I will NEVER part with it!
Mine were Bold butterfly (because I loved the picture of the decorated wall in the 2004-2005 catalogue) and Sincere Salutations because my DH insisted! It was really funny because I wasn't into cards at all but he thought it would be good for us to make our own cards. MWA HA HA. Little did he know he was leading me to the dark side.
I don't own any SU stamps. I prefer clear stamps. I am considering getting the crab one from the spring mini because he's so unique and adorable, especially if I can use EZ mount to use the images with my acrylic blocks.
Wow! My first purchase was 10 years ago. It was called Wildflowers. The stamps were HUGE back then! I only wanted the daisy stamp out of it for a project I was working on. Who woulda thunk it that years later I would own over 200 stamp sets???? (Not me, that's for sure!!)
I'm really dating myself here, but my first set (purchased 9-10 years ago) was Quilts Give Comfort. Went for bang for my buck, as it was a large set of 20-25? stamps in that dotted, country, line drawing style. Made really ugly cards with it, and sold it a few years ago :-)
ME TOO!!!!!
Whoda thunk it? I also got Business Memos, because I was a Pampered Chef consultant at the time. Thought it would be "useful". It wasn't. Still using QGC though!

My first sets were "little by little" (which I still have) and another floral one which I've sold. I bought it because it had the most pieces for the price - tons of little branches and things. But hardly ever used it because I dislike masking.
I remember telling dh, "look how many stamps this has... I'll never need another set again". of course, that wasn't the case. (as he reminds me every so often)
