Can't remember the name of my first set, but it had a Christmas tree in it, with separate packages. My favorite of all time is Lovely as a Tree - absolutely love it!
My first was Shore Thing. I just love the sandpipers, and I still use them, and the crab, and the waves and the sand a lot.
My favourites are Unfrogettable and Tree for All Seasons, I think.
This is almost embarrassing!! But I bought my first SU! sets back when you had the choice of buying them foam mounted or wood mounted!!! :-) My fist set was Nice & Easy Notes on foam. Can you imagine that???? I would never even consider buying stamps on foam now. But back then, they were that much cheaper that you could get a lot of stamps for the money compared to wood mount. One of the sets that I've loved for a long time and still use is Bold Birthday. But there are so many to love that it's hard to choose!
My first stamp set was Stipple Celebrations (retired), which I've hardly used. I told myself recently I need to challenge myself to use it more often.
My favorite 2 stamp sets are: Petal Prints (retired) and Lovely as a Tree. You could make cards for just about any occasion and also with many different techniques with just these two sets. But don't tell my DH that.
my first was feathered friends, not sure what I was thinking or if I was thinking. My favs are almost always children ones, I work with children and find myself drawn to those sets. I have decided to try to grow up a bit but it hasn't worked well for me so far.
My favorite is always my NEW one, Ha!!!
I just bought Pretty Petals, and Embrace Life, my new fav"s. I love alot of them, I use Priceless alot and Wild about you...
Carol
First, welcome to the world of Splitcoast--you'll love it here and you'll find so many ideas to use all of your new stamps! My first stamp set was A Greeting for All Reasons--you know, I thought I could use it for all kinds of cards and not buy any other sets--HA!!
I have a hard time narrowing down a favorite so here are a few:
Wonderful Favorites
Amazing to Zany
Baroque Motifs
Simply Circles (retired)
And, though I'm a demo, I love stamps from a bunch of different companies which you can see on my blog or gallery--I can't limit myself to one company!! Check out the member companies listed on the homepage--you're sure to find something you're interested in! Have fun and again, welcome to Splitcoast!!
my first set was Tag Team
but my miost favorite stamp set right now is Pick a petal. I just cant belive how many different things you can do with this set......
My favorite is Loads of Love. I put so much stuff in the back of that truck, from the yarn balls in Baskets Full of Fun, to snowflake piles, and even a Martini glass and a beer/soda bottle stamp. The glass and bottle were from the Michaels $1 stamps. I love to see what I can fit into the truck.
I also bought my first set when you could get foam, but I went with the wood. It was Nice & Easy notes. Quick funny story - I always wanted to learn how to stamp. I was invited to a workshop about 20 miles from my house on Super Bowl Sunday. We had an ice storm in Columbia, SC that day, but my friend and I took a chance and went! I became a demo!!
My favorites are Lovely As A Tree (it's so quick, easy and versitle) and Seaside.

My first set was Watercolor Garden. Even though it's retired and I can't use it with my customers, I can't bear to part with it. Another retired favorite is Roses in Winter (I almost went ballistic when that showed up on the retiring list, lol).
As for current faves, those would have to be Wonderful Favorites (a must-have, IMO), Baroque Motifs and Sanded Background.

Welcome, "newbies"!
Rachel, I've visited Orange County a couple of times - Newport Beach/Catalina/Irvine: love it!
One of my first sets was Window on the World - which I hardly ever use anymore.
My favorites now (and I use them a lot) are Natural Beauty, Garden Collage, Bloomin' Beautiful, Sincere Salutations..... I could go on and on!
My first SU set was Classic Alphabet! After that, Fresh Flowers b/c I used it at a Stamp Camp! Soon after, I got Terrific Tulips, which is one of my all-time favorites, and Watercolor Garden and Watercolor Garden II. Roses in Winter is also a favorite and I can't believe it retired! We just don't have THAT kind of flower set anymore (at least I don't think so). But I've found plenty SU stuff to love and I keep buying the new stuff too!

I can't remember if my first set was Cuddles and Tickles or A Gift From Heaven. It was probably both, because I think I hosted a workshop and earned a bunch of stuff.
I really don't know that I have a favorite set still.
Welcome Newbie! I think my first set was Button Bear. Not sure, it was in 1996. I became a demo and was a SU demonstrator for 5 years. LOVED it! Still love their products.
I'd say that one of my favorite sets to be very versatile is "Lovely as a Tree"
all you have to do is see that there are 5280 samples in the gallery. It can be used for just about anything.
God's Blessings is my pick for verses. I have 160 SU sets so it's hard to pick out just one set.
This week I've been playing with Haute Couture (retired) and She's All That.
Just a little tip as I am new too, I was so excited and caught up in the excitemement that I too went the E-bay route and honestly everyone of those sets except 2 (I would say 90%) of the ones I bought I am now trying to unload and sell them on ebay and I am losing money. My step mom is a demo and for my b-day and x-mas she gets my "wishlist" of stuff I want for her to order as my present. thislast christmas I ordered Priceless and Embrace life, both I saw tons of cards that I new I could case and then as soon as I got them I started getting my own ideas. Go through the galleries for the stamp sets that are on your wishlist and you will find out which ones fit you the best and which ones you think will see more ink. I also, just purchased Essence of Love out of the mini and this was one that I thought was allright and then i looked up the gallery and I had to have it. Priceless and embrace life were like this as well, both sets I thought were cute until I saw the cards. The other sets that I thought I had to have I couldn't see any cards that I thought were "me" and couldn't see that I would ink it as much to make it worth it.

Hope that helps!
I did this too! When I first got really excited about SU!, I bought a ton of sets off ebay not realizing that for what I ended up paying, I could have bought a ton of new, current sets! All those sets I thought I was getting a deal on were the sets that had been retired for a while. Then, I couldn't find new, fresh looking examples in the gallery, and I got really frustrated because I didn't know what to do with them!
Now I make sure I REALLY want a set before I buy it, from myself, because I ended up signing up to be a demo to get better deals! ;)
My first sets were Dreams and Dragons (the original), Music Speaks, and Hug from God. I had just those for a long time. I've definately added to my collection over the past few years though!
My favorite set....hmmm. That's a hard one. Overall I'd have to say it's Loads of Love. At the moment though I'm using Bugs & Kisses like crazy!

Well I see the OP is no longer "new" here! LOL she has twice as many posts as I do and I have been here for years! My faves are botanicals, archetictual elements, and anything vintage. I really miss the vintage section of the catalog.

My first SU stamp set and still favorite is Heartfelt Thanks. It is very versatile and I find I reach for it time and again. It just seems to "fit" me.

That's so funny, Vee! I didn't even notice that or think to check out the original posting date!
Much loved sets include: Simply Circles -- incredibly versatile! (Yep ... still have it!) Roses in Winter .... (doubt that I will ever let it go!) Cool Cat .. such a fun, fun set to use!!
Newer loved sets include: Baroque Motifs ... (I'm keeping this one too!) Fabulous Flowers .... (Love to add dimension here!)
Long ago ... I thought I might cry when "Tropical Blossoms" retired ... and yes, I still have that one.
My favorites go back b4 this website. I was a customer about 10 years ago & bought DD Pansy & DD Hydrangea. I love them both! I sell off much of my retired stuff, but I still have both of those.
