I'm so excited that the Stampin' UP! Holiday Mini is out and in effect September 1st. I'm in love with it cover to cover since I got a SNEEK PEAK at it over 3 weeks ago. I made my list then and I am still holding firm on every item! I can't wait....The UPS guy is going to really see a whole new side of me when the ordering system opens up! I'll be stalking him on a whole new level. I can't even make a decision about items to spend my rewards $$ on because it has gotten to a point where I have everything in the New Catalog and Idea book and soon everything in the Holiday Mini, too! LOL... What are you in love with in the Holiday Mini?
LOVE LOVE LOVE WILL NOT LIVE WITHOUT DUH, Naturally
Well, I'm an SU demo, so a good percentage of that Mini is sitting in my stamp room right now! :-) I didn't buy the lovely Valentine's Day set yet, though, because I still have time to get this one. And when I saw JanTink's use of that set called "Gift Givers", I added that to my list as well!
Briefly, I love all the DSP, all the stamps, and especially the accessories - the Simply Scored tool is AWESOME, and the Shaker Frames are ingenious, and SO easy to use, and very inexpensive! That quilted satin ribbon is just GORGEOUS!
And even though I don't really "do" Halloween, I ordered that adorable set with the pumpkins with mustaches and the cute little girl witch who can sit on the broom with her cat, and the best part is a limb of a tree that the bats can hang down from. Just a very, very versatile set!!

Another SU demo and I have and am in love with the Spice Cake Designer Paper, the quilted Early Espresso ribbon and the Dazzling Details glitter glue. There are many more items I like and will probably order like the Stitched Stocking stamp set and Stocking builder punch.
I already have a Scor-pal and am wondering if there are any BIG advantages to the new Score tool in the mini.

So far, from what I can see it has a score line every 1/8". I have Scor-pal too which is great when following a tutorial and the author is using or getting her measurments from Scor-pal...it comes out perfect every time, but when I get a template that has off measurements, the mathematical calculations and tweeks you have to do can get frustrating. Scor-pal has just a few limited standards measurements for like a gate fold card and a few others, but I spend a significant amount of time trying to find my score lines by hit or miss lining the dashed lines lines up with a score line. Hope that makes some sense....a score line every 1/8" will make your tutorials a lot easier to not have to stop and make calcultions in your head. Techniques like faux basket weave and backgrounds created using score lines will be quicker, easier, and demonstrate a greater variety of patterns you can achieve.
I suppose if you're a demo the upside is that you can do your classes and demonstrations with another product you can promote.

I think Spice Cake is an adorable combination of colors and one of the better papers I've seen lately as it doesn't have pages with a large single image that is way too big for a card and the patterns (from squinting at the mini) appear smaller and more uniform uniform. I can't tell you how many papers burn me up when they have something like a huge child's head sporadically placed on the page or a giant owl on a branch in one corner of the 12 x 12 sheet! I might buy a couple of packages of Spice Cake just to ride through the storm till they stop doing that so much, lol!
Love, Love, Love the Peek-a-boo Frames Bigz dies. I was getting ready to send in my second order in less than a month but am holding off until I can order these. I'm sure my list will grow as I look through the catalogs until then.

....still love all things SU!
I am so with you on this one, that was a huge peeve of mine in the latest big catalog, I'm not planning to buy any of the papers because these big images are useless to me.
That being said, I love that Spice Cake paper and the Gently Falling set. I like the Christmas papers too, but I already have a lot of Christmas paper and I think I'd rather save my money for something else. I'm also considering The Sounding Joy and You Are Loved sets. I'm trying to limit myself somewhat, because there was so much more I wanted from the big catalog this time around, too.

The Simply Scored tool has markers that you can place wherever you want them. It makes it easier when you are making something with multiple score lines. It's also good when you are making several of the same items with score lines.

Yes, good point! I also am planning to order additional markers and a "spare" stylus scoring tool because I don't know how....but I actually wore down the point on my Scor-pal tool. Don't want to end up needing a specialized tool long after this catalog....just in case it doesn't have that famous Stampin' UP! availability longevity!
I wore out 2 scoring tools on my Scor-pal. I think the SU one will last a lot longer because the tip is metal. I love the place markers too. Love it Love it Love it.
I have quite a few of the items already too. I really like the Holly Berry Bouquet DSP because I can use it for Christmas, but it's not too Christmas-y. I can use it for regular cards too, which makes it a good value to me! The quilted and velvet ribbons are fabulous!

Somebody at Stampin' UP! really outdid themselves....all the ribbons are gorgeous. They make me think of rich duvet covers and shams on those fancy beds that people make up every morning.....never did see the point in making the bed, but if I had a Cherry Cobbler quilted satin duvet and Very Vanilla velvet pillows....I might spread the bed up.
The only thing in the MINI that I can't get with is Frostwood Lodge. It's kinda scary rustic Christmas like in THE SHINING!
speaking of beds.....planning to sleep like a baby
Thanks so much for your feedback about the SU scoring tool! I'm thinking it will need to go on my list! :-)

That should be another thread.....I wish Stampin' UP! had xyz. Although, nothing comes to mind. lol:p
Felt comes to mind! In lovely SU colors, ready for the Big Shot. Just think of the cute felt flowers that could be made! The possibilities are endless!

Yes, they are endless! I'm wondering if that lonely single bottle of SU! Dazzling Details in the Holiday Mini will lead to an exclusive line of SU! Stickles in ALL the yummy Stampin' UP! colors.
I've been sitting here trying to think :rolleyes:of something I could do with Frostwood Lodge and then it came to me....combine that scary rustic Christmas dsp with the Shelley Duvall stick thin images of She's ALL That! and I've got THE SHINING/Tim Burton Christmas theme going on. Yeah baby!
I'm glad some are excited about the mini. Actually, I looked it over several times, and didn't see anything I had to have. I already have 2 score boards and can't see why I'd need to buy a third. Basically, given my sad budget, I am just relieved that nothing excited me. I do love the card samples shown and that is cool. New ideas using what I currently have is always welcome.

I think this paper will look great with some of the masculine stamp sets, like "Daring Adventure" or some of those nature-inspired sets. It's not scary! It's log cabin cozy!
I think the easier question would be what don't you like. I love just about everything in the mini and I can't wait to get started on designing my stamp camp projects for September. It was hard to not use the holiday mini items for this past weekend's camps. I did show my gals a peek at the new Simply Scored scoring board and how great it is. I think it is a must have!
I only got to see the new mini at my SU's house. Lots in there but really have to check it out when they mail the mini out to us non-consultants. Cannot wait!!! and No I do not want to be a SU consultant! Was a Tupperware one for 6 years and did pretty well but already done that!
Besides my sister who thought she had no reactivity in her body found out she does and she is the SU consultant in the family...
Even though that scoring mat is pretty cool, I couldn't justify spending the money -- so I passed on it. (I already have a Scor-Pal and a Scor-Buddy.) I did order the Frostwood Lodge DSP and the It's A Wrap Holidays. I'm making treat box cards for my co-workers for Halloween and I will be using that one immediately!
Not crazy about too much in Holiday mini. For once, I will be able to control my spending -- well maybe just spend on some other stamping site/catalog.
For me there is just 3 things that are must haves... Gently Falling, Spice Cake, and Bright Hopes. Going to test drive a few more items at my Demo's before I decide whether or not to buy.
