I just know I am missing out on something.
Every time I sit down to paper craft, I end up using my Teflon bone folder. I first heard about it on the forums here and I've never regretted ordering it.
Well, I could do without almost everything I have EXCEPT:
Genesis paper trimmer
ScorPal
ATG gun
Memento Inks
PTI stamps
PTI cardstock
PTI dies
Nesties
Cuttlebug
Acrylic blocks
Copics

Caution: You are entering an artistic zone. This is not clutter - this is creating. These are not pajamas - it's my work uniform.
I cannot color without my Ott-lite. My other favorite tool is a pair of reverse tweezers that close really tightly to hold bows, etc. on until the glue dries.
I have to say the stamp-a-ma-jig is my first "go to" item also Next in line after that is my ribbon slot punch which I seem to be using on everything these days!
Nesties
My Big Shot
Cuttlebug and embossing folders
my Magnetic mat (I had it for a year before using it and now can't do w/o it!
Scor-Pal (thought it was the dumbest thing out there but was influenced by the
ladies here and haven't made a card w/o it ever again!)
Really good tweezers & tiny paper snip scissors (I love my SU ones)
ATG gun (also thought it was big and awkward looking. But, again-influenced
here and haven't used anything else since!)
SU's scrubbing pad and spray cleaner. I used to use all sorts of things, like the
little bottles with the sponge top, but tried my friend's scrub pad and
bought one the next day!)
Only one thing? Sheesh, it was hard enough to narrow it down to three the last time we had a thread like this.
I assume that real, real basics are given - like stamps and inks.
Optional extra number one - stamp-a-ma-jig. I should have got it long before I did. I use it every day. I can understand people saying Big Shot, but you can still make a lovely card without one - only not if the sentiment is crooked .
Narrowing it to one is really hard!! For me, I think it'd be my Big Shot. I use it on probably every card I make, either with my Nesties or embossing folders. (Okay, so maybe that's kinda like 3 items...and did I mention my MS scoreboard...and my Tonic guillotine cutter... and, and, and....lol)
My Fiskars trimmer and my Scotch ATG gun are my two MUST HAVE products whether I'm working on scrapbook pages or cards. I never go to a crop without them.
I couldn't be without my CBug and embossing folders as I use them on practically EVERY card I make.
I agree with you on this! I don't use it for every card, but certainly a lot of them. I also bought a Cricut Expression about a year ago and have never regretted it! Love them both!
I CANNOT stamp without my perfect layers tool!!! I have 2 sets in case something happened to one
Diane, see I told you there would be something I would need!!! I am intrigued!! What is this tool?? Never heard of it. Sounds like something I think I have to have!!!! Please share.

BUY - Perfect Paper Crafting
I've seen so many people recommend that tool that have this link saved for when, if ever, I have money to spare and nothing more pressing to buy with it .
There are some How To videos in the bar at the top of the site which will show you how it works.
Thanks for the hearty laugh out loud , Joan B. Great answer and so true since each handcrafted card costs $343.50. Jeanne
My husband got the first card my mother ever made and it cost about $212. I got the second one so the price had dropped to only $106.
I consider a paper cutter a necessity in stamping (like paper, stamps and ink), so after that it has to be my bone folder. It scores, creases, distresses and holds things in place. I actually have two in case I can't find one.

I LOVE layers and this makes them soooooooooooooo easy!!! A slight learning curve to it, but once you get it figured out, it's a breeze!!
Sabrina, thanks for posting a link
I'll chime in and say a really good paper trimmer! Forget about the thousands of dollars I have spent on all the "other things" I had to have  I do love this hobby though!!! It does bring so much joy into my life!!!
I think if my house caught on fire what I would grab would be my Big Shot
I love how you put that!! There are things I could not live without but if MY house caught on fire I would grab my Copic in one hand and Spellbinders in the other. Whew, I better get a carring basket for both of those so they can all be picked up, one basket in each hand!!!
