My 13 year old daughter and I made the Oreo Truffles and she pronounced them the best candy ever! She says they are even better than fudge! Thanks so much for all the yummy recipes!

I think this is a great idea if after new years maybe you can make a pretty recipe /idea book for us to keep..
I see we are up to 57 pages so far and thats since the last update you made.
si I was thinking maybe all the ladies and gents here interested in owning one of the pretty little books of these recipes maybe we can pay you a fee for doing these for us... this way we can help you cover the costs of printing and other expenses to make and mail these cuties..
So how about it.. I know that for sure i will be willing to pay you to make me one... So please remember me and count me in these ideas are all great and i currently don;t have a printer so i have been having to write down some of them but i like them all...
I hope you find this to be a great idea
by the ways I was in the process of moving and have moved but thats why i wasn't here sooner.

I was thinking of making it into a little, very unprofessional cookbook that you can download and take to Staples or bind on your own. I will put it together at no cost - your only cost would be to download it yourself using your own paper etc. You can have it as simple as you want or make a nice thick cover with stamps and artwork.
What do you say ladies would you be interested in this? I have actually slowly been working on this as a surprise and well I am behind lol. In no way will this take the place of the professionally done SCS cookbook that is being professionally printed..... it is just a reader's digest version of this thread.
Santa's Surprise Cookies: this is a peanut butter cookie with a chunk of a snickers bar inside and drizzled with chocolate. I cut the mini Snickers into 4 pieces rather than using one whole mini Snickers per cookie. http://www.marsbrightideas.com/chris...es/r_701_1.jsp
Candy Cane cookies: red and white dough shaped to look like a candy cane. We leave off the crushed candies. I make a double batch and tint one batch with red food coloring and leave the other batch white. I also add the food coloring to the liquid ingredients before I add the dry; it is so much easier to get the color evenly distributed this way. We also don't make the curve at the top (just straight sticks); it seems to lessen breakage. And don't even THINK about omitting the almond extract! http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Candy-C...II/Detail.aspx
Hi Suzi well count me in on this one.. I would love it and thats a great idea as i would then do like you say stamp up a cover sheet etc ..
So that would be great and I appreciate you doing this for us...
I will see if i find my apple cake recipe to contribute here .. I had it but with the move it must be packed aways... I will look for it tomorrow and type it here.
hugs

I'd like to have one too! Here's a quick and very easy fudge recipe I made this year using a basic recipe from Land O' Lakes butter. It looks pretty when it's packaged. I poured mine into a foil lined loaf pan and sliced it like they do in candy stores. Each slice was wrapped in plastic wrap and slipped into a cellophane bag. I used light blue ribbon to close the bags and made tags for each one. I made two batches of the basic recipe, one using semi-sweet chocolate chips and the other using white chocolate chips with a cup of crushed peppermint added. The result is a two layer fudge which I call "Peppermint Bark Fudge". It's yummy! Here's the recipe.
Peppermint Bark Fudge
(2 layers prepared separately)
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 stick butter
1/4 cup milk
3 cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup white chocolate chips
1 stick butter
1/4 cup milk
3 cups powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
1/2 - 1 cup crushed peppermint candy
Combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips, butter and milk in a microwave safe bowl and microwave on high for one to two minutes. Add the extract and powdered sugar. Beat on medium speed with a hand mixer or whisk for about two minutes, until the fudge is thick and creamy. Pour it into a buttered foil-lined pan. Immediately prepare another batch of fudge using the white chocolate chips and 1/2 teaspoon of peppermint extract instead of the vanilla. Add one half to one cup of crushed peppermint, whatever you have on hand, to the white fudge and pour it over the chocolate fudge layer. Sprinkle additional crushed peppermint on top and place the fudge in the ice box until it becomes firm. Slice and package as desired.
I poured another batch of this fudge into individual foil cupcake cups and put each one in a cellophane bag, tied plastic spoons onto the bags with the ribbon and gave them away as "Spoon Fudge". They make nice little gifts!
Suzy - that would be wonderful! Thank you so much for taking the time to save all these recipes and ideas in one document. I would love to be able to download a printable version. But I also would be happy to pay a fee for your efforts too!

Add to 2 cups Graham wafer crumbs and 1 cup shredded sweetened coconut. Pack into a 9" cake pan. Optional: 1/2 cup chopped walnuts.
To make Icing:
Cream 1/4 cup Butter, 2 cups Icing sugar and 2 Tbsp Bird's Custard Powder dissolved into 3 Tbsp milk. Spread on top of base and refridgerate until hardened.
For Topping:
Melt 4 squares semi sweet chocolate and 1 Tbsp butter. Spread over top of icing. Cut into squares when chilled and watch them disappear!

**Chocolate Florentines**
Preheat oven to 375. Oil a cookie sheet with vegetable oil (not margarine). Place Graham cracker squares on pan filling up all the space.
Melt 1 Cup Butter (not margarine) and 1 Cup Brown sugar. Stir until smoothe and spread over graham crackers. Sprinkle 1 pkg (approx 200 grams) of sliced Amonds on top. Bake 7 minutes until bubbling all over. Turn off oven. Sprinkle 1 cup Chocolate chips over top and put back into oven with door open for a few minutes until the chocolate is soft. Take out of oven and spread melted chocolate to cover whole pan.
Cut into squares while warm but keep in pan and cool in fridge. Break into squares. Yummy!!

Thx for sharing all the recipes. I printed out a couple and will make then another time. With a shoulder injury this month, I won't be doing any baking but these recipes sound too good not to make another time.
I made the Breakfast Casserole for Christmas morning. Pulled it out of the fridge and by the time festivities were coming to a wrap (or unwrap) breakfast was done. Thanks for making the morning go so smoothly.

Thanks Suzy, that sounds perfect. And thanks for reminding me of the SCS cookbook, I had wondered one time about the cookbook? Glad to hear that one is being pubished, can't wait for both of them now. Yes, I'm a cookbook collector as well.
Thanks for all your work.
Kathy

This would be great Suzy. I would love to have a copy of this. Thanks for the offer.
Please add my name to your list! I also followed this thread from the beginning. Had fun making the pretzel/kiss candies. Everyone enjoyed them. Thanks for all the great ideas, ladies!
I just wanted to tell everyone what a great time I had reading all of the ideas and recipes. I have been flat on back for 2 weeks now, threw out my back and then got pneumonia to add insult to injury LOL, and SCS had been a savior from boredom. Anyway I am not baking or anything else this year but I was busy cutting and pasting everything I thought I would use to a file and am saving it for next year. Next time I get up out of bed I will add a few of my most requested Christmas cookie recipes. Again thanks everyone for the
the ideas. Suzanne
I failed miserably at making a book of recipes and crafts from this magical thread- if anyone is interested I now have a bit of time to actually finish putting it together!
