Default What do 2nd grade boys like?

I have all daughters so I have no idea! They have a treasure chest at school that holds prizes for keeping their cars on the "green" track (i.e. no discipline issues) for a length of time. I'd like to make some prizes for the chest and while I can easily think of things for the girls, I am stumped when it comes to the boys. I can't even rummage through our toy box to find small toys in good shape because they are all geared for girls. Thanks for any ideas!

I'm having a hard time coming up with inexpensive ideas, but my son is into Lego, Transformers, Nintendo DS. Maybe you could find some sports themed things? He's also into the TV shows Ben 10, Fairly Oddparents, Suite Life, and he likes High School Musical and Jonas Brothers.

He's also into little notebooks, so maybe cover some little spiral memo books? He also likes bookmarks.

Star Wars! Several of the boys in my girls classes LOVE Star Wars!

Football, soccer, sports are always a safe bet!

Stars Wars for sure at that age. My stepsons are now 9 and 10, but thinking back-that was huge for them. And Lego-you can find little Lego kits.

How about keychains with Shrinky Dinked images from Star Wars, Pokemon, etc. You can find free coloring pages online. Print them out and re-copy them to about 50% to 70% their original size. Trace on Shrinky Dink (I've used the "rough and ready" kind),color with color pencils and shrink. Don't forget to punch a hole large enough for a ring or chain to go through before shrinking!

That's a really cool idea! My son loves to have tons of keychains hanging from his backpack.

Don't forget those small stretchy rubber animals, especially bugs and snakes. My boys loved those for several years - 2nd grade being prime time. The party store or Oriental Trading is great for that age if you are looking to buy a few things.

IT sounds silly but my son (1st grade) and his friend are happy with themed pencils and they LOVE scented erasers!

Mine too! He LOVES keychains! He has so much stuff hanging from his backpack.

Last year (2nd grade) he chose a coffee mug from the gift box. He loved it and said a bunch of the other kids wanted it but they didn't have enough tickets. He drinks out of it all the time. Go figure...
