Default What to charge?

A friend of mine has asked me to make her 25 thank you cards and I'm not sure of what to charge her. I haven't got a design in mind or how fancy they'll be, but what would you roughly charge?

THANKS!

April

Usually $1 to $2 each, if there's not alot of extras added....price out your costs and don't forget your time is worth something too.

You might figure out how long it will take to make a card, then multiply by the # of cards, then multiply by however many $/hr you want, then add your costs & quote that as the price.

I made 30 cards for a friend and she gave me $30.00. Then she wanted 10 more and she gave me $15.00 for those. That sounds like not really enough considering what people are saying here.

Default selling cards

I sell alot of cards, and it' always hard to get the price you and your DH think they are worth. I really try to get $2, but will settle for alittle less. It's really sad that people don't want to pay that your all the work that goes into cards, but will go and pay $3.50 at Hallmark! This Christmas, I did a very detailed card and held my line in the sand as far as the price. It took alot of time, but not alot of stuff to make it. I think most of the time, you have to ask yourself, would you be making cards anyway? and this way you get something back in return!

I sell my cards for $2.00 for plain and $2.50 for embellished. I did xmas cards in more buld 1 package of 5 = $10.00, 2 packs = $18.00, 3 packs = $26.00, 4 packs = $34.00

I think it depends on your location as well and definately mass producing is less time consuming.

I find it really hard to accept money for the cards I make, especially if a good friend asks me for some. I will, however, suggest my friend could take me to lunch or dinner or something like that. One time, I received a gift certificate for a nice massage. That was well worth it!

A friend asked me to make her 200 wedding thank you cards, and she is paying me $15 an hour plus supplies. I think she's crazy (she came up with the price), but I am fortunate that she understands the effort going into the cards. Other than that, I usually charge between $2 and $3 a card depending on the embellishments. Hope that helps!

Catherine...

I want a friend like yours!!

I've sold a couple in the past, their in my gallery, they usually run $2-2.50. The last one I did I don't think I charged enough, but that was on purpose.
