Default What to call this style of stamp?

Over the years I used to see full-card sized stamps that were simply a set of decorative borders partitioning the front of a card into various rectangular sections that you’d decorate/fill with other different images. Is there a name for this “style” of stamp? I was wondering if there might be something similar in a printable but am not having any luck searching for it.

Stampin’ Up had a background stamp called Bold Check Frame

Bold Check Frame picture on eBay

but I don’t think I would call that a decorative border. Is that at all similar to what you’re talking about?

Would the term “Comic strip frames” get you anywhere? I’ve seen that used for dies that do what I think you’re describing.

I would call that a quilt-style background stamp? I have some pre-printed cards like that.

Late last night, I thought of quilt blocks. Inspired by brwnigrl having the same thought, I searched again and found this...

Quilt block stamp

This quilt stamp reminds me of Melanie Muenchinger's Inspiration Mosaic stamp. Here is a google search image of the set: https://myperfectstamp.com/products/...ger-for-gina-k

It is retired but it is the same concept as the quilt as you add whatever stamps you want in the grid or color blocks as you wish.

I like that one more than the quilt one but still no decorative borders. I like hunting for things online. Guess I’ll try using mosaic in a search

A friend happened to give me that Melanie Muenchinger stamps some years ago but I still haven't used it because I can't figure how what to do. I guess I need to google the name of the stamp set to see samples.

Default Segmented card borders?

This is just the kind of thing I meant. I did search for “printable quilt template for greeting cards” but just got a lot of images of different quilt blocks.

Default These ones

Yes. How would I describe them as a whole to do a search, or does anyone know of similar printable templates?

Default Inspiration Mosaic

I went digging and found my cards made with the Inspiration Mosaic stamp set.
I will attach one or so here for you to see. They are not in my gallery here as they were made and uploaded to the old StampTV when it was on Ning.

I attached a few ideas for you. I see you found one in my gallery. I didn't know I posted one as I couldn't find any when I looked through my gallery. So glad you found it! Melanie Muenchinger has a lot of inspiration on her blog or look through her gallery, melmel is her name.

Hi Lisa,
Oh, these are just adorable! LOVE all the different looks you got with this stamp . Did you paper piece that one with the different patterns? The sea life is so cute, and I may have to CASE your coffee design. Thanks for sharing these. Just discovered the SCS gallery for this stamp as well. So much inspiration.

Yes, I went to Pinterest first and did a search. A card or two directed me back to the SCS gallery where I found yours, along with others. When I first got this stamp, I just did a brief search and didn't find anything. So glad I found a lot of ideas. Now to dust off this stamp and make something.

Absolutely! It's all straight lines so shouldn't be a problem. If you'd like, I can stamp out several copies and send them to you. Then you can play around and see what you can do with it. Just PM me if that sounds good to you.

I think you could draw it with a ruler like you are thinking. You could even add the squiggly lines, like in the quilt pattern stamps that were being found.

This stamp has been discontinued and mine is red rubber. I bet there are people ready to sell theirs if you add an ISO to the Buy/Sell forum.

Yes, it is paper pieced. I am sure I went along with a video. I just made a playlist on YouTube with this set. Feel free to watch or save to your files: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...VdclvKmUl9o262

Default Mosaic stamp

I love this as a layout for paper piecing. What I’m looking for at this point is something without the overlap. A search for “printable mosaic template” gave a lot of results for things that looked more like stained glass templates to my mind.

I have at least one of this style stamp from many years ago as well as a set of pre-printed note cards with the "quilted" front. However, I never really figured how best to use them, so they've just been sitting in my unused stash (with way too many other things). Thanks for giving me some great ideas to get them out and play.
