What is the best and easiest to use in Photo editing software?
I am new at this, too, and hope I am in the right place to ask this. I am looking for a photo editing software so I can easilly place a watermark on my card. Can anyone help me?
I used to use the editing software that just happened to be on my computer, but I upgraded a few years back to Adobe Photshop Elements. I completely agree that there is a learning curve. I do love it and I just looked for tutorials to help me understand what I needed to do and how. Lisa Spangler of Hero Arts has several extremely clear and helpful tutorials on her blog that have totally helped me.

I use 2 programs for my photos. Paint Shop Pro 7 (I know it is a way old version but I love it) and Coral Draw. Both have a bit of a learning curve as well but once you get it you love it.
Microsoft Digital Image Pro is the easiest of the main photo editing programs to learn, but if you plan on getting into more than just general editing and watermarking Adobe Photoshop Elements would be the one.
I bought an older version on ebay of Microsoft for 7 dollars and when I want to do some quick and easy editing I use that.
