Default Wedding Invites

So my daughter and her beau are FINALLY going to tie the knot and she has tasked me with making the invitations.
She is wanting some sort of shimmer/sparkle on them and she especially likes the idea of having her name and his name foiled but the rest of the details printed in regular ink.
The finished invites will probably be about 5×7"
Anyhow, I've never ever foiled anything and I'm wondering
1. Is it possible to only partially foil?
2. What foiling system should I purchase?
3. Am I going to want to shoot myself by the time all is said and done?

Also since the invites are going to be bigger than our standard handmade greeting cards what is your favorite place to buy wedding invite suitable envelopes?

AND, she is also interested in having some sort of filigree style die cut detail on the invitation. Are there larger dies that can do this on a larger card or should I just find a design in the Silhouette (or similar store) and use my Cameo to cut it? I am not super proficient at using my Cameo, it intimidates me so I'm unsure about having to mess with it in this particular instance.

Thanks so much for your help!

When I made my daughters wedding invitations, I purchased the invitation envelopes and rsvp return envelopes from Cards and Pockets. I was very happy with the quality.

Hopefully someone else will have suggestions for your other questions.

Hi beaddict, my thoughts on your questions.
1. Yes, you can partially foil. I suggest Googling this/You Tube it, as some foiling systems only work on toner, there are others that work on inkjet. You'd probably have to print the part you want to foil first, do the foiling, then go back and print the rest. So this will probably be the most time consuming part.
2. The Gemini foiling system is quite new, but as I recall they have a lot of dies for doing Wedding invites. Link HERE for their USA site, you can see the machine/dies etc.
3. Yes, probably, lol.

Filigree dies do come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, have a look for Sue Wilson dies, she does a huge number.
To be honest, the Cameo should do the filigree die cutting with ease, the advantage being you are not stuck to a certain size, you can resize your shape to be a perfect fit for your invites. I'd definitely suggest doing a trial run, maybe cut out a few different designs for her to choose from?
Just remember to allow yourself at least double the time you think they'll take to make, it's surprising how long it can take to get them done, and you don't want to find yourself stressing over a deadline. Good luck. X

I hope it is a small guest list, lol. I get my fancier envelopes and some specialty papers at Paper Source. You can also get lots of ideas to CASE there. You can see how popular foiling is right now and most of the fonts are pretty funky. Have fun and do not let this stress you out. If they do not come out all exactly the same only you will know, each guest only sees the one they get.

Thanks ladies!
This wedding has been so long coming that we are very excited about it. There is going to be a lot of DIY for this thing since they are trying to save money to buy a house. We've got this!
