Default Watercolor Paper?

O.k. I just put in an order for the watercolor paper and it is on it's way, but I am alittle afraid to use it. For those of you who have it or have used it, what are some of the ways you have used it? Are there any funs techniques or looks you have gotten from it?

Thanks!

I've done some cards using watercolor paper.
It really gives a neat look.

I bought a whole pad of it at Mike's for a few dollars. Same as SU - 140lb cold pressed. I absolutely LOVE the effect!! The only advice I'll give you is to let your ink dry for a few minutes. Something about the way the paper is made, even the basic black & brown bleed a little. I've only watercolored with my inks & aquapainter - hopefully I'll be able to get the crayons after the ws I'm hosting on the 20th. Enjoy!

I have two tablets of watercolor paper. I use it with my twinkling H20s and my watercolor brush. I also use it to color the paper first and then stamp on it.

Smile water color paper

I love love love this stuff- I sprayed mine with a mix of water and alcohl- then with markers colored my stamp= the flower from the art of life
then i stamped it on the damp paper 3 times- once in middle, and on each side without re-coloring the flower- sooooo pretty. i then tore the edges all around and put a ribbon for the flwer stems and mounted it on rose red card stock- then to vanilla card- so pretty!

I started out using watercolor paper and stamping about 10 years ago. I took a painting class where we stamped and embossed the image. Then we made "washes" out of acrylic paints to paint the stamped design. The colors don't run as much with the embossing. I'm planning to pull out my stash of paper and start using the watercolor paper with my pencils, crayons and inks.

Have fun!

I have the SU watercolor paper.

I was a bit disappointed that it is not full sized sheets. SU's watercolor paper comes in card-sized sheets. It seems to me its rather pricey at 6.95 for 20 cardfront sized sheets.

However, I do love the stuff. I've never been into watercoloring too much, but lately I've been playing with the technique and I made some stuff for the August DD gallery with watercoloring. I will never go back to using any other paper for watercoloring ever again. Sure, we can use SU confetti and SU shimmer white, but after using the watercolor paper, you'll never go back.

I was very curious about this paper myself so I bought some of the SU sheets. I too was somewhat disapointed that it was not bigger sheets. BUT I was also wondering if I could get the same thing at Michael's or Hobby Lobby and that question has been answered. Now I just need to go get it!!!

I have not tried it yet because I was afraid to mess it up! I will go for it this weekend after hearing what everyone has said about it!!

Thanks!

This is a pretty cool technique...

using wc pencils (or crayons would work too, I guess, never tried them) make a grid in "water" colors, teal, green, blues...like make lines up the page and across the page 1 or 2 inches apart. What you end up with is lots of squares. No particular order, then color in the squares in no particular order, so that all squares are colored. Not totally filled in. Then wet a sponge with water, and swirl it around until all pencils lines are blurred and the color pattern is the way you want. Then sprinkle table salt randomly around the paper. Let it dry COMPLETELY then wipe the salt away. It should look like seawater. It's a great background for ocean or beach sets.
