Hi there! I was not sure which area to post this in so...Mods...if you feel the need to move me, no worries here
I am wondering if there is an embossing powder of sorts that would make an image fuzzy. If anyone here is over 40, they might remember the fuzzy wallpaper that was big a long time ago; almost had a velvet feel to it...back when Harvest Gold and Olive were the "in" colors for kitchens everywhere Thats sort of what I am looking for. For using on stamps of animals...getting the idea of what I am looking for? If there IS such a thing, please enlighten me!! Thanks!

I love flock but if anyone has a great way of adhering it I would love to hear it. I had bought a sticky embossing powder but that doesn't seem to work anymore :?
I don't know if it's the flock (someone gave me the stuff I have, it doesn't have a name brand on it) that I have or the glue, but I've never been able to make it look good. Usually whatever I use it on looks like it has mange. I'd appreciate suggestions as well!
I use my my zig pen to adhere the flocking. For shapes I use score tape on the shape and cut it with my vagabond machine. Then peel to expose the sticky and press the flocking in.
I also use flowersoft for feel sometimes to. Use Aleene's glue to adhere.
I have 'Puffy Velvet' fabric markers by Marvy Uchida. I never could make the fun flock look right. You fill in the area you want to be fuzzy, let it dry and then use your embossing gun to make the stuff puff up. I used it to make the 'velvet' trim on a skater's dress puff up. It works great to add 'fur' to animals. Whenever I used Fun Flock, the FF would 'take over' the image. Bought the Puff Markers in the area JoAnn/Muchael's have their T-shirt decorating supplies.

Good luck!
I've never heard of those - they sound really cool!
I use the quick tacky glue on my project and then put either, flower soft or flocking on and pat carefully. let dry and then clean off excess with a soft brush. The problem with the Mange effect is to "puff" up the flocking first by either working it with your finger tips or fluffing it with a paper piecer. Then sprinkle it on the glue and pat carefully.
Another way to make a sort of flannel or suede look is to use a paper crimper (I have the Fiskars one) and repeatedly run a piece of cardstock through it until the fibers separate. Pull the layers apart and voil! Faux flannel/ faux suede.
I never tried flocking (didn't really even hear of it!) until I got it from A Muse, and I love the effect and how easy it works. I used the Zig 2-way glue pen too.
I love using flocking, especially for animal fur (like rabbits at easter) and for snow on my Christmas cards. I did a post a few years ago on how to make your own flocking with paper scraps so you can get coloured flocking to match your cards. Here's the post: Faux Flocking by cat_woman at Splitcoaststampers
Yeah, I have no problem with small bits of flocking. I was trying to flock using a background stamp, versamark, sticky embossing power... ended up a hot mess TBH.

ooo I had read about those and never found them....
To adhere flocking I've often run the item I want to flock, e.g. a die cut or punched strip through the "X" xyron sticker making machine and then poured the flock over the sticky surface. Quick, easy and not messy like some of the wet glues can be. I've also applied it directly to double sided tape (like scor tape) and it sticks beautifully to this too.

That is my fear after watching a couple of videos. Seems like it would be good for filling in an area that is a solid shape but I am afraid that once I put it on my image that no one will know what it is anymore...afraid it will just be a blob of fur.
I used a pen last winter that was white and then you hit it with the heat and it puffs up but that was more like "fluffy" and not "furry" and it looked better in small areas (trim on a Santa hat, that kind of thing) but when I tried it on a snowman, it was too much.
I guess I am just going to have to practice with a few different things. Wish me luck!
