We went to Walmart yesterday, didn't find anything I couldn't live without in the scrapbooking/stamping section, bought the necessities, I went to the restroom and DH went through the checkout, then we drove home (110 miles).
On the way home, DH says, I know you want to become a consultant for CTMH, would you like me to pay the fees for your birthday? I said YES!
We got home and Dh is rumaging through the Walmart bags. He pulls out this package and says, "these are for you!" He says, "I know you want to start scrapbooking our photos (we've been married a year), so I bought you this set of journaling stamps! Whoohooo! Was I surprised.
What do other great husbands do for the stampers/scrapbookers out there?
That is awesome! My husband teases me about how much stuff I have, but he bought me my cricut and my cuttlebug. He knows that creating gives me an outlet!
My hubby knew i wanted a Slice for Christmas and he actually let me know NOT to buy one before Christmas because "You never know what you're gonna get.."
so I kinda knew... But what I DIDN'T know was that he bought a TONNE of accessories (think 12x12 mat, blades, cartridges etc) along with it, and I nearly cried because of his thoughtfulness..

That is a sweet story. Obviously your husband loves you very much and likes to make you happy. My husband is like this too. He lets me have anything I want. When I say I am spending too much on craft supplies, he says that it's not too much until I reach the cost of all his toys. (He's got expensive stuff. I know, I bought him his motorcycle.) When we go past a craft store, he always asks if I'd like to stop, and he never minds how much time I spend looking. Most importantly, he listens to me and takes an interest in what I enjoy. He's a real keeper, and it sounds like your DH is too!

At convention last year when they announced the Big Shot I wanted the whole bundle pkg ($200) and soooo many other things from the new catty. There was no way I was going to place that big of an order right away.
So when I we had our lunch break I called DH and said - I so need this, but it's expensive! He said well you're birthday is coming up, just order it and that's your present! THUMP........
My husband willingly went to all the stamp stores with me and patiently browsed the aisles and helped me find things.
Now, since I am without transportation, he goes to Michaels and A.C. Moore by himself, armed with my lists and coupons. I get phone calls from him, (on his cell), giving me updates on what he can and can not find. He keeps a "look-out" for new MS stuff when he knows there is a holiday coming up. Right now, he searching for Valentine's stuff and he REMEMBERS even if it is not on his current list! That amazes ME!
He has learned (from me)the old trick of "hiding" things at the back of shelves so he can go back after work and get it. He has learned the trick (and has gotten up the nerve to actually DO it! LOL!) of going to another cashier to use a second coupon. He is very shy and I never thought I would see the day he would do that! LOL! He will also stop at Michaels before work and then after work to use coupons and pick up stuff I have called him about while he was at work.
HE IS A SWEETHEART AND DEFINITELY A KEEPER!:-D
*** And he will also he me cut paper, scan cards and he has even made me cards using my supplies! And he does quite well, too!:-D
My DH is so supportive of my crafting addiction. Our house has a little office/study just off a bedroom. Since it's just the two of us, we turned that bedroom into a library when we first moved into the house. Over the past couple of years it has slowly been turning into a craft room instead. First, when I mentioned having a dedicated craft table, he drove me 50 miles to an IKEA (on a holiday weekend no less!) to get the perfect table with the drop down leaf on the end. That went in the middle of the "library" so that I could be near the office where he spends a lot of time. Then, as the crafting supplies continued to grow, he helped me move one wall of books to another room so that the shelves behind my table were full of conveniently placed craft items.
Over the Christmas holiday, I mentioned that I was thinking of moving the books from a second wall to have just a little more room for my cardmaking supplies. I told him that I was more than capable of moving the books upstairs since I knew that he had other projects of his own that he wanted to work on out in the garage. He insisted on moving all the books and shelves instead! He asked what I was going to use for storage there since the shelves went upstairs with the books. I showed him the Jetmax cubes online at Michael's as well as the ITSO cubes and storage from Target. Next thing I know, we're at Target and he's encouraging me to get whatever cubes and bins that I want for that wall! I will have to get some pics tonight that I can post.
I am so thankful everyday that I have one of the most wonderful guys in the world for my husband. He encourages all my hobbies, knowing that I get such pleasure out of making a pretty card or finishing an intricate cross-stitch project. Even though this post described the material things in what's now the "craft room" instead of the library, the best part is that we can spend so much time physically near each other (him in the office on the computer, me in the adjoining room) while we each pursue our own interests. And we can share what we're doing with each other too with just a "honey take a look at this" or "hey, that card is looking really neat!"
I'm still trying to figure out what I did in a previous life. To get this lucky in my current life - I must have been like MOther Teresa in my last one!!!:p
I wanted a Big Shot for Christmas, and not only did I get that, but 4 dies to go with it. Also, when I bemoan the amount I have spent on supplies he just poo-poos it and says, "it makes you happy" or "you can't create without the right tools". I <3 him!
just yesterday my DH went to hobby lobby for me.
had a coupon-i couldn't let it go to waste-right?
he had to be in rochester all day(3 hrs from home).
so he calls me when he entered the store.called me to see what i wanted.
sad to say to took about 8 women to guide him to nesties
the first 3 workers-had no idea what they were!
well in the end he came home with new scalloped ones for meZ!
what a guy.
as i tell my friends-"he's a keeper".
and i tell my stampin friends he should be "cloned"
he designed my all craftroom-and built it.
I am not married YET i Say not yet because i am getting married in 8 weeks time on the 14th of march:-D
He is a wonderful man who puts up with all my moods as i have Bipolar. He shares my hobby in craft and loves to go to craft fairs hunting for papers and rubber stamps its just great to find a man like that xx jo xx
My DH is wonderful and supports me in my hobby to the nth degree. We recently put new flooring upstairs and we had a storage room up there which he suggested we make into my craft room. He painted it and put all the shelving in. Whatever I asked him to do, he did. I call it "THE NEST". I had a lady paint my name and a bird nest on one wall. Love it! When I make cards, he always compliments them. Of course, I sometimes wonder if he is just saying they look good so as not to hurt my feelings. If he is with me and I want to run into a store for crafting supplies, he is always willing. He has such a wonderful attitude and says he is so glad I found something (else) I love to do. He's a real keeper.

My DH is buying my "Christmas" presents this next week from the NEW SU! catty. Anything and everything I want. Isn't he sweet?
Anything and everything you want? Wow! He is a dear. I don't want to get older any faster but if it happened to be my birthday this month, guess what I would be wanting? Yes, something from the SU catalog.

my DH is quite a dedicated dad and husband, even if he doesn't completely "get" my hobby lol. he busts his tail quite often to get home from work in time for me to do a class or workshop -we have 2 kids and he works an hour away. i also get to spend a girls weekend at my BFF's house nearly every VSN. he's always willing to help lug my stuff from the basement to the van for events and has even been coaxed into stuffing packets for stamp a stacks ;)
You ladies all sound like you have wonderful husbands! My hubby just rolls his eyes and tells me that I dont need anything else, lol ...
Haha. Mine pretty much does the same thing. He looks incredulously at me and says "you don't need anymore." With that said, he has built two shelves for me and likes that I can share this with some of our friends.
Sometimes the *sweetest* thing that a husband can do is pretend not to notice all of the new things accumulating or the "stamping-related" charges on the bank statements. Know what I mean??
My dh jokes about the cult but really doesn't mind when I tell him I've ordered something. Actually, he is saving the extra money he is making, shovelling the neighbour's driveway, to help buy me some photography equipment. I figure he thinks this is a much more worthy hobby.

My husband is really supportive. He minds the kids while I stamp, etc. I had also mentioned how much I wanted a Slice machine for Christmas. He bought that and the Noteworthy cartridge (when we were looking at the website together he saw how much I loved the noteworthy cartridge). Other than that, he just leaves me alone when it comes to my stamping stuff.

Sorry for the bad English writing as my first language is French so my story
My Husband really does not like shopping at all. Usually when we go somewhere and ask him if I we can go to a scrapbooking store he comes with me and stay in the car while I browse the isle in the store so nervously as I don't like the fact that he is waiting in the car. I prefer to wait for people than people wait for me in general.
SO for my last birthday we when visiting his parents about 250 miles from where we are. He knew there was 2 scrapbooking stores neer by, so after the lunch he told me "OK my love are you ready for a whole shopping afternoon in scrapbooking stores? YEHHHHHHH! He came with me to all the stores I wanted to go (3 stores) and he says - buy whatever you want. No limit I will pay for everything"
The first store we went to, I only found stuff for 30$ BUT the last one I wanted so many things so I refrain to buy to many and once in the car I told him there was few other things I wanted but I did not want to exagerate. SO he did a UTURN and we came back to the store to buy the rest
My Husband is the greatest! My niece got married in Sept, and she wanted to make her thank yous from the shower over the summer. We all met at my sisters, and my dear husband helped MAKE thank you cards!! He had never stamped, or done anything before...but truth be told...he'd do anything for this particular niece!! He's such a dear!! Karen

Reason: Correcting a typo.
I love this thread. Happy hubby stories make me smile.
I go on a girlfriend weekend every year and while I am away my DH usually plays video games and has the boys over.
One year he picked me up from my girlfriend's house and was acting strangely in the car. "I'm just happy to see you" he kept saying. My response "Okay, what did you break?" He's kinda clumsy sometimes. When we pulled in the driveway, I noticed the blinds missing from our spare room. He said the cat knocked them down and made a mess of the spare room. He didn't have a chance to clean up. Reasonable answer, but I am still suspicious. When I opened the door I could smell the paint. I ran to the spare room and found it freshly painted, the closet was opened up (doors removed) and he installed shelving, there was a desk with a computer in the corner and new lighting. He had worked all weekend with my father to make me a craft room. I was floored. He is a thoughtful man but is more focused on the small stuff. This was HUGE. He said "Ta Da! I really hope you like it. The walls are mellow moss, I think."
I love reading all your stories about your sweet husbands. For Christmas this year my husband sent me on a scavenger hunt all over our property. Each clue was attached to a small craft supply. The final clue led me to my new Cricut Expressions! I couldn't believe he looked it up online (we don't have many craft stores where I live), knew where to buy it, and was thoughful enough to present it to me in such a creative way. His effort meant more to me than the Cricut itself (which I LOVE). Thanks for letting me share my story!
My DH loves what I do because it makes me happy. He doesn't like the shopping, he doesn't like having to follow me around, but he always compliments the cards that I make when he comes in my craft room to chat. He encourages me to keep up with RAK & Soldier's Angels. He's very supportive, but like any typical guy, hates the shopping part. I try to do my shopping online or go by myself to Michael's. He always insists on going with me, so I warn him ahead of time how long I plan on being there. He's a real sweetheart and I'm lucky to have him.

My dh tells me that he worries that I am not buying ENOUGH stuff to create what I want! He built me storage for ink pads, ribbons and punches and bought me a desk, computer and storage from IKEA. He even likes to make cards with me. He makes my heart smile. This is what he built for me. Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
Mine stays on the golf course and out of my hair and never ever checks our joint account (he has his own account) to see what I have spent. Also, I do not have to pay any bills, just groceries and craft stuff out of my retirement check. And, if I play all day, he cooks dinner for us. Guess I will keep him another 23 years...
Still my crafting will never add up to 5 sets of golf clubs, the country club (which is only golf and I do not play), golf carts, 50 fishing poles, a fly rod (never used)... I call it even;)
Any time we go anywhere, my husband always looks for a craft store to take me to, sometimes they are a little drive from where we are actually visiting, but he always finds at least one as a part of every vacation. He also doesn't rush me through them!

Oh my gosh that is so great! I wish my husband could use tools.
Most times my husband doesn't really listen when I talk about stamping stuff (but that's OK because I don't always really listen when he talks about his car stuff! lol). But I was absolutely thrilled when I opened my Christmas gift from his parents - they got me Born to Ride! My husband really was listening all those times when I talked about how I wanted that set but couldn't bring myself to spend $50 on it, so he found it on EBay & had his parents get it for me.

Very nice hubby and I really like that ink storage. It is all very nice.

Sweet stories. My husband is so supportive too. OMG he even makes cards with me. I know shortly after I moved to the US, we went to Michael's and they had some scrapbooking event, we both made a page, yup his was wonderful too. And we entered our names in the draw for a huge gift basket. And we won it. LoL....
But he always comes with me to different events, and stuff. And whenever we go to Michael's he always gets me something. But lets me pick what I want. As we have separate accounts for my crafting and our regular account. I wanted to keep it separate once I became a demo and started to do different art festivals. OMG he always drags my stuff for craft fairs, and even sits there with me, or if I need to go somewhere he mans the table for me.
He always surprises me with some stamp set and such

Wow, you guys are lucky! I love my DH dearly, but he doesn't totally "get" my hobby. He's glad I have a hobby, but he would never buy me anything and isn't really interested.
I have a keeper, too!
My DH let me turn a 1/2 room (we have a weird space in our home that could be a study/play area, etc) into a craft area. Score #1.
He built me (as a surprise) a nice craft table that I had been wanting from Pottery Barn (but was not willing to pay for). Score #2.
He always compliments my cards. He does not oppress my creative crafting, as he was an Art major in college. He has built/designed/rebuilt/re-designed many things in my craft area. Score!
Besides being totally supportive of my hobby, my husband has built me a ribbon rack. Also put wire racks into the closet in my stamp room. So it is more functional for my stamping use. He has also been helping plan for the new stamp room in our basement.
Thanks for starting this thread!! It was a great idea!!! Our supportive husbands need to be given credit for what they do to help us with our "hobby"!
My sweet hubby brings home little things for me. Sets of stamps, decorative scissors, papers...very sweet. Over Christmas when we were all looking for the cute sets of stamps from Walmart, he called me from Orlando to ask which ones I needed and then again on another day from Denver to ask what sets I wanted more of...what a fabulous guy. I will keep him forever.
Blessings.
We went to Walmart yesterday ... then we drove home (110 miles).
Not to get off topic here, but didn't anyone else notice how far the drive to Wal-Mart is!!?!?!
Are you seriously that far from Wal-Mart? Oh, you poor thing! ;)
Thanks to everyone for sharing your stories. My husband is clueless as for what to buy me, but he never complains about the accumulation, and for that I'm thankful.
