I gor my level one the other day and thought it would make a good stamp to try spotlighting......
I used White/Eggpolant/both plums and some Moss taffeta ribbon
I KNOW it is heinous, but no idea how to fix it, where did I go wrong here???
Thank You!!!
I rather like it!!! Don't be so hard on yourself. I saw this stamp when ot was my "stampers 9 month" but was afraid to try it.. You got past that and you made a fabulous card. Did you try a sheer purple ribbon? That's the only thing i might have changed but that is entirely personal preference.

The card is great---I agree though that the ribbon needs to be a brighter purple to tie in with your spotlight or layer a thinner ribbon on top of your original one.
Since it's such a large image, try spotlighting a larger piece of it...Or add another small square spotlight in one of the corners? It's nice looking as is, i like the idea mentioned above adding a darker ribbon also
Mine looks a lot simpler than yours because I was trying to make three quick cards in a short time period. Yours looks great - I also agree about a brighter ribbon to help your spotlight pop.
I think you could just tie on some purple ribbon to what you already have on there and it would give your eye something darker to contrast to. Matting the spotlight in Elegant Eggplant would also give a sharper contrast. Maybe a couple of dark purple brads along the upper left corner. It's not a bad card at all, just a small change will punch it up a little.

My only other thought is that the base card be the same as the matting of the spotlight thus visually connecting the base image to the spotlight image. In this case I would suggest the darker card color as it supports the intensity of the colour of your spotlight.
A while back someone here on SCS commented on the orientation of an image...whether your eye follows left to right or right to left. This image, when right side up, makes your eye go right to left. And that is the opposite of what our brain wants to do...so there is tension.
I like everyone's ideas about changing the card base and the ribbon to the darker color...but I would also try putting the image on the card with the stem at the top left. That way your eye will move left to right...like your brain wants to see it.
All I did here was rotate your card. See what you think.

I agree with the first one but I really liked it flipped over and with either a darker base card or darker ribbon to highlight the darker spotlight. But it's not heinous at all. You should see some of the bombs I've made.

Try a darker card base and see what happens. I think in the first one, there is too much light color and you barely even see the pale plum card base.
