Hi. I am miserable. I bought the ornamental pines stamp after viewing the gorgeous cards in the gallery.
I can NOT get the pine cones to look nice.
I have to make 50 cards with this stamp (requested by a customer) and the pine cones are looking awful.
I have tried stamping it on a crumbcake color using soft suede. YUCK
I have tried cutting a pine cone out on my Silhouette and used white ink to make it look like snow, then added stickles for some glitter....YUCK.
I have NO idea what to do and I'm close to tears.
Been working on this one particular stamp set for near 5 hours now with nothing nice to show.
PLEASE, can anyone help?
I have limited supplies ie ink colors and papers, but I can get to Michaels to pick something up tomorrow if someone thinks it will helps.
I really would appreciate any suggestions.
Thank you!

If you are using a crumb cake card stock, I would stamp the pine cone in a very dark brown. Then I'd go back with a white gel pen and add some white snow contrast just on the tips of the cone.
I'm afraid there isn't enough contrast between crumb cake and soft suede.
When I purchased some crumb ace I asked the demo which ink would show up best and she advised Expresso which works nicely. Hope you have some as previously poster suggested you need more contrast.
Thanks...of course I don't have expresso in the house. I appreciate your feedback. Maybe I can get a ride to the store and see if I can get a dark dark brown.

When I used this stamp with my early expresso ink I was disappointed until I reinked my stamp pad then it was much darker and fine. As noted before stamping with versa mark and brown embossing powder will help
I think if I were working with this stamp set I would be tempted use the color direct to stamp technique and just color on to the stamp with the regular SU or other water based markers. It is one of my favorite techniques, especially for mass production of cards - so fast and very easy to do. I would use 2 contrasting colors of brown for the pine cone and also use brown on the woody part of the bough along with 2 shades of green for the needles so I would get some depth and shading effects.
That is a beautiful card in the video. I'm trying to figure out what keeps the glitter sticking to the card. I know recipients hate to get cards that shed glitter.

Someone asked this question in the comments below the YouTube video, and here is the response Tami posted "
I haven't had an an issue with it coming off...the key is a good hard flick on the back (no wimpy flicking). You can spray lightly with hair spray to seal the glitter as well."

I just made this card using the pine bough in Watercolor Winter since I didn't have the stamp she used. I rubbed the dazzling diamonds over the front of the Fabric sheet on the front of the card, which may help keep the glitter. I used an adhesive sheet since I didn't have the spray adhesive and the sticky part may hold the glitter from underneath. KWIM?

I bet the adhesive sheet will work great.
And I don't have her set, either, but I DO have watercolor winter - I had not thought about using that set - great ideas Now I have to get some dryer sheets and use them LOL (I'm a fabric softener kind of gal and don't use dryer sheets...) and then I'll try this technique using watercolor winter.
About a year or two ago, Tami posted another youtube video using this technique with, I believe, some of the evergreens/trees in 'lovely as a tree' and that card was also beautiful.

This is so elegant, yet simple! I've fallen in love with this set, and I'm not usually drawn to pines, etc. I will be getting this set! Thanks for the link!
